So, I’m going to be honest: this is going to be a whole lot of pictures of the two of us. I thought about breaking it up into 2 separate posts, but I figured you all were going to see a ton of Mr. Fro Yo and me between now and the end of my recaps, so you can handle it.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way…we decided to do a first look. Not doing it was never really a consideration; we knew it was what was best for us. Also, my bridal party told me afterwards that they were SO glad we did it. I think that was primarily because it meant that we were able to take the pictures before the ceremony, which meant a quicker ceremony to party transition for them. I know it’s not super traditional, but I felt like it was just as special as him seeing me for the first time when I walked down the aisle. Actually, I take that back, I think it was even better because it was more intimate with just the two of us. We were able to laugh, cry, and smile with no one around.
So, I took to my hiding spot while Mr. Fro Yo came out:

Now that everyone else was ready, it was my turn to slip on my dress. My stomach was all fluttery and I couldn’t wait to put it on. I felt like my hands were shaky and my heart was racing, but it was all because of the excitement. It was our wedding day!!

We were all made up and ready to get dressed. The bridesmaids and flower girls all had to get ready at my sister’s house before we left for the venue. Marie Gabrielle (our venue) is gorgeous, but it didn’t have a spot for the bride and the bridesmaids to just hang out and get dressed other than the bathroom. I stayed in my pre-wedding outfit until we got to the venue, and just slipped on my dress once we got there, but everyone else got ready beforehand.
The flower girls put on their skirts, tops and bloomers:

OMG! I’m back!! I waited for what felt like an eternity for my pro pics to come in, and they’re still not totally here (proofs, no CD), but I’m tired of waiting and SO ready to share them with you. I bet you guys thought I wasn’t going to do my recaps, didn’t you? That’s okay. It has been nearly 5 months since we said I do, even though it feels like it just happened.
Anyhoo, where should we begin? With us getting ready, perhaps? So, our getting ready process was basically a day-Long affair, and I’m not kidding. The hair and makeup girl, Amy, showed up at 9:30 to start the process for each of us. But it was all worth it; she did such a great job. Perhaps you’d like to see?

Hello hive! I’ve missed you guys!! I’m still waiting on my pro-pics. I definitely haven’t forgotten about my recaps, and I’m anxious to start them (and see the pictures myself!). But since I was missing the hive, I had to pop in.
So, the reason for this post is to talk about gifts, ease my guilt, and educate myself on the etiquette of gift giving.

I talked to Mr. Fro Yo about it. See, he is very practical and realized that there was money to be made from items we would no longer need. So, the minute we got back from our honeymoon he asked when I was going to post things from the wedding to sell. I mentioned selling my dress, and he said, “Oh no you don’t have to do that. Girls like to keep their dresses for whatever it is they do with them.” And he’s so right. What the hell am I going to do with it?

So, from the very beginning I knew I wanted a photo booth. I’d never actually been to a wedding with one, but at every restaurant or bowling alley I’ve been to that has one, I find myself drawn to them. I decided to avoid the fauxtobooth and go for the real thing. I stocked up on props from the dollar store, like masks, glasses, mustaches, leis, and sheriff badges and just let our guests get creative.
I picked Party Booths to run the photobooth and they were awesome. A couple of nights before the wedding I talked to them about allowing my guests full access to the pictures right after the wedding. The guy asked me if I was sure I didn’t want to go through them first to weed out any of the obscene ones. What?? People get that crazy in the photobooth? And yes, apparently they do. I don’t think that in the moment people realize that every guest at the wedding will also get to see this seemingly private photo moments behind the curtain. Well guess what, we do get to. Here are some of my favorites:

Can you believe it? It’s already been a month since we got married! I feel like a junior high girl counting my relationship in terms of months, but being a newlywed is so great, it’s hard not to recognize the milestones however little they might be.
So what did we do to celebrate? We pulled out our cake’s top layer.
Now before you scold me and say that I’m supposed to save that for the one YEAR anniversary, not one month, let me tell you how big the top layer of a cake really is. Do people consume that whole thing on their one year anniversary? It’s got at least 12 pieces, if not more! Why wait and eat cake only once a year when I can have delicious cake once a month! I’m waiting on my pro pictures, but I have a few photos I can share from the festivities that took place the day before, so I figured I could get started.
On Friday, most of my bridal party and friends started arriving, and we got started early. I picked up one of my college friends from the airport and we headed straight for the nail salon.
(family friend, SIL Fro Yo, and me)
This was the first time I had my entire bridal party together, including my flower girls, and we had such a great time! We popped some bubbly (What? Doesn’t everyone do that at noon?) and we all got our nails done.

Before this whole marriage thing, I was Miss S, and now after considering whether or not to change my name, I decided that I wanted to take Mr. Fro Yo’s last name. So now I’m Mrs. L.
I know this is a very personal issue and I can see reasons for each side (change vs. not change vs. hyphenated). Had I decided to go the hyphenated way, my entire name would have been 36 letters long. Yikes!
However, changing my name is taking some getting used to. Read more…

So, I already talked about the rain, but now I have one more piece of drama to share with you that occurred in the days before the wedding. After this, I promise lots of pretty pictures and happy stories, like this:

I’ve talked the hell out of the out-of-town guest bags. See here, here, and here. So now it’s finally time to tell you what I ended up doing. First, I used 8 X 10 muslin bags and a stamp for the outside.
Then, I printed out our new last name initial “L” and used my circle craft punch to punch it out, and got these little guys: Read more…

So, I haven’t talked about our registry yet, and we’re already married. I think maybe this is actually better because I can tell you what we did wrong.
So, when we started registering I was blinded by the shiny appliances, porcelain plates, endless gadgets, and just new-everything. I got a little greedy with the scanning gun and wanted EVERYTHING.
However, once we started getting presents I had wildly registered for, I realized maybe we didn’t really need all the things we’d chosen. Read more…

When we left off I had given gifts to 2 of my girls. Well, now that the wedding is over, I’ve given all my gifts away. As you might remember (or maybe you don’t) I decided to get each of my girls something that made me think of them. I thought of it more like a Christmas or birthday gift. With that in mind I picked out the following gifts:
For Sister Fro Yo I got her a bracelet, earrings and a Visa gift card:

If you’ve watched our video trailer, then you know it rained on our wedding day. And, if you’ve been following me, then you know I was supposed to have an outdoor ceremony underneath some gorgeous trees in the midst of a European style garden nestled right in the middle of Uptown Dallas. Well, that didn’t happen.
Let me give you a breakdown of how the day transpired.
In the days leading up to the wedding, I psycho-checked all the normal weather sites: Weather, Accuweather, and Weather Underground. And when I say psycho, I mean it. I talked to my coordinator and she told me that I did not need to stress about the rain until it got to 90% chance of rain. It was hovering between 30 and 60%. So I stopped stressing. Phew! The day of the wedding though, I checked again. And it was 90%. I could feel the tears forming, and I texted bridesmaid Kim with only the words: “It’s 90%.” She texted back to say her super phone (code for iPhone) said it was only 50%, so that’s what we were going to go by. I wiped away my tears and let it go.
Then, we were watching the news and on the radar was this giant, massive, rain storm with the colors red, orange and green all jumbled together. My sister’s boyfriend had the remote and just said, “Well, it looks clear!” and quickly changed the channel. Then, my makeup and hair girl arrived and casually mentioned the word “rain” and she was told that “rain” was not a word we were going to say today.
At this point the rain had held off and I started to think that maybe we could squeak through the day with no rain. My internet was down so I couldn’t check the hour by hour forecast, which maybe was a good thing, and although I noticed the clouds, not a drop of rain had fallen from them. Until we started heading to the venue… Read more…
