Fro Yo Honeymoon: The Conclusion

April 29th, 2010 @ 11:11 am by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Since we are both terrible at taking pictures, my honeymoon recaps will be short and sweet. I get embarrassed about taking lots of pictures, and even though I have my camera, I never want to pull it out. But, I digress…

When we last left off, we’d arrived at the resort, enjoyed some food, and got some rest.

So, we woke up in our lovely room and decided to get a little breakfast by the beach:

OMG, Our Video Trailer!!

April 28th, 2010 @ 10:47 am by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Sorry to interrupt the honeymoon posts, but our videographer, Vanessa McKellar, just sent me our wedding video trailer and I could not WAIT to post it. I am embarrassed to admit how many times I’ve already watched this, but I just love it so much. In fact, watching it on the computer screen wasn’t enough, we decided to get the video projector out at work so that we could all watch it… 5 times. And we all cried.

Fro Yos’ Honeymoon Begins

April 27th, 2010 @ 5:04 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So this feels a little backward starting with the honeymoon, but I’ll give it a go.

After we partied with our wedding peeps until 3 AM on Saturday night (momma Fro Yo even made it to the end!), we finally made it to our fabulous suite at the Stoneleigh hotel.

I hadn’t been able to eat all day long, or really been able to eat much for days, but luckily our wedding coordinator, Lisa, packed up some food for us. We tore into that delicious food before crashing that night. There is nothing like ending the wedding diet on your actual wedding day. :)

I’m a MRS!

April 25th, 2010 @ 6:10 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Hello hive!! How I’ve missed you! Mr. Fro Yo and I are back from a fabulous honeymoon and we are nursing some sunburns. That Mexican sun can be brutal! But, we couldn’t have asked for a better time. And the wedding… It. Was. Amazing! Were there problems? Of course. But even with the few hiccups I can’t remember a time that I’ve felt quite that happy. My face hurt from flashing so many smiles. While I wait for the pro photos, and laugh at all the photobooth images, I’ll leave you with a couple of pictures.

Meet the Parents

April 12th, 2010 @ 12:07 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Our families have never met. Never. This is sort of unbelievable to me, and a lot of the people I tell. We’ve both met each others’ families, but my family has never met his family. It’s really due to circumstance. See, my family lives in Dallas, and Mr. Fro Yo’s lives in Colorado. We typically travel to visit the fams, so it just hasn’t happened. However, I really did not want our families to meet for the first time at the rehearsal, so sister Fro Yo offered to host a dinner at her house a couple of days before the wedding.

Now, I’m not really nervous that people won’t get along, but it’s a big deal and it’s happening just a few days before the wedding. What if the families clash? What if it’s awkward? What if it resembles Meet the Fockers?

Ampersand Love

As I try to taper off my search for inspiration, I couldn’t help but notice this picture in the Weddingbee DIY section:

Ampersand Love : wedding dallas decor Large Image large_image

There is something so simple and sweet about the little hanging ampersand between the two chairs. And, it would match perfectly with our table numbers. We aren’t having a bride and groom sign on our chairs, so I thought it would be a new way to still designate our chairs, but without having to make the signs, since we all know the crafting gene escaped me.

But for some reason I’m not worried about falling at the ceremony or tripping during the first dance, though maybe I should be.

However, I am terrified that I’m going to hurt myself in some unsuspecting way in the next 2 weeks. I’ve managed to make it this far with only a broken finger (which has healed nicely, by the way), but every day that we go hiking, I envision myself tripping over rocks or tree roots.

About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

I wanted to try to fit an Eminem song into one of my titles, so this was my attempt. But the real reason for this post is to talk about the entrance to the reception. See, as I’ve mentioned before, we both hate to be the center of attention. I’m a little more open to the idea, but Mr. Fro Yo is adamantly opposed. In fact, when I ask him if he’s nervous about getting married, he’ll say that the thing that worries him the most is that everyone will be looking at him during the ceremony. Aww.

So how the hell are two scaredy cats supposed to have an entrance into the reception?

Our Wedding License

April 5th, 2010 @ 6:20 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Yep, I said our wedding license, not our marriage license, but there’s a reason. See, I told Mr. Fro Yo that we needed to figure out a time he and I could both leave work to get our marriage license (and I used those words). Finally, we decided that Good Friday was the day to go. I had to work, but Mr. Fro Yo was off, so it was the best time. We got there, and there was only one person in front of us. We grabbed our number and waited to be called.

After we were asked if we were related, delinquent on child support, currently married to someone else, or divorced within the last 30 days, we had our marriage license in hand. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. As we were walking out, I thought we should take a picture to commemorate this moment. Luckily, I had my camera with me. Mr. Fro Yo went up to a police officer standing nearby and asked if he would take our photo because we just go our “wedding license”.

Irritable

April 2nd, 2010 @ 2:51 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, with about 2 weeks to go, I’m finding myself stressed, irritable and a wee bit on edge. Unfortunately, Mr. Fro Yo can sometimes take the brunt of that frustration. Actually, yesterday was the perfect example of that.

Let me give you a visual: We were walking the dogs, I was whitening my teeth with Crest Whitestrips, and yelling with a lisp (due to aforementioned Whitestrips) about how I don’t feel he fully supports me when it comes to planning the wedding. He said something about when did a bee get in my bonnet, or something about a bee and a bonnet and I could not stop laughing because it was so hilarious. Who says that? I felt like I was having an argument with my grandmother. So now I’m laughing, and my Whitestrips are falling off, and I look ridiculous. But it was good for us, because it broke the tension, and then we went about the day.

About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, apparently I am a horrible blogger, and by that I mean that I don’t always remember to take pictures of items that require pictures, such as my bridesmaids opening gifts. But let me at least tell you about how I decided to buy the gifts. So, I decided to take a little bit of a different stance on the bridesmaid gift thing. I wanted to treat the gifts like they were a birthday or Christmas present that I chose specifically for the person for whom I was giving it to. I chose 6 very different girls to join me on my special day and I wanted to get them each something that made me think of them.

However, I was a little concerned that someone would see a gift that I purchased for someone else and wish they received that instead, which can still happen since not all of the girls have opened theirs yet. But, I spent about the same amount on each of the gifts, so at least it’s fair in that regard, and I really did put a lot of thought into each of them.

Now, if you’re wondering why only some of the girls have received their gifts, that’s because I wanted to give them each their gifts one on one, and so far I’ve only been able to do that with two of them, so those are the gifts you all will get to see.

What’s in a Name?

March 29th, 2010 @ 12:44 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, I was thinking about this the other day: I really wish my wedding dress had a cool name like other dresses that I hear about. “Oh, I’m wearing the Marisa,” or, “I’m wearing the Lola.” Is there one named Lola? I have no idea, but if there was, it would be way better than my dress, which is named 1900. Yep, 1900. I get that it’s practical and it’s probably the stock number, but why couldn’t Mr. Casablanca (I’m assuming it was he who made the decision to name my dress) get a little more creative?

Don’t take this post to mean that I’m not in love with my dress, I assure you that I am, BUT, I think I would love it even more if it had a catchy, cool girl name. Perhaps something Moroccan? Maybe Laila, Zahra or even Amina. Or if they have shoes or dresses named Kelsey (my name) I am automatically drawn to them.

How cool would it be if you fell in love with a wedding dress that shared your name? It would be like it was made specifically for you without that custom price tag, like this dress:

Nervous Tummy?

March 25th, 2010 @ 1:41 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, I was sitting at work and 9:30 rolled around. 9:30 is the normal time that my stomach is grumbling and ready for my mid-morning snack. I always have an apple or some sort of fruit on hand in preparation for this time. However, today 9:30 passed without that grumbly tummy. Then, 12:30 came, still no grumbly tummy. What the heck is going on?? Oh, right, nerves and butterflies.

I know they always say that you start to drop weight as you get closer and closer to your wedding. Although this has not been the case for me, I can see now why this happens to people. RSV… Huh?

March 24th, 2010 @ 12:50 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

This RSVP thing has been wonderful and terrible all at the same time. I’ve opened quite a few that I thought were going to be definite nos (and marked appropriately in my spreadsheet), only to find out that these people I assumed would not be joining us to celebrate, are coming after all. Woo hoo! But then, the reverse has been true as well. People I automatically assumed would come; the people I couldn’t imagine not making it to the wedding, are not coming. What?

RSV... Huh? : wedding dallas rsvp Rsvp rsvp

While others are still using that RSVP as a coaster (I assume) because I haven’t heard one way or another from them.

So, how do I deal with the people that RSVP no that I thought would be there to celebrate with us?
