The Big Day: Miss GB 2.0 Gets Ready

August 7th, 2008 @ 11:50 am by Mrs. Gingerbread

Meanwhile, across town… Miss GB 2.0 went to Blo to get her hair done. This place specializes in styling hair. That’s all they do and they do it well.

I also scheduled time for her to have lunch with her friends. Wasn’t I a considerate wife-to-be?

The Big Day: Getting Ready

August 6th, 2008 @ 3:57 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

Where was I? Oh yes, last time I told you about our Rehearsal Dinner. Now it’s time for the big day! Get ready for photo overload.

I got a great night of sleep and woke up at 7am. This gave me time to chat with Mama Gingerbread before Sister Gingerbread showed up to take me on my wedding morning errands. Mama Gingerbread stayed behind to work on the bouquets.

Woo Hoo! Rehearsal Dinner BBQ!

August 1st, 2008 @ 11:09 am by Mrs. Gingerbread

As I mentioned in my previous post, we were late to our own rehearsal dinner. Fortunately, we have the most generous landlord/friend who took over and had everything done by the time we arrived. Before stepping in and saving the day, he’d already used his seafood hook-up to get us fresh crab and salmon at a great price, gone grocery shopping with us and called over his chef friend to make some marinades the night before. He even decorated and surprised us with two amazingly delicious cakes for dessert. All night our guests were asking to be his tenants.

Mark hard at work while we rehearsed and sat in traffic.

Going With the Flow

July 31st, 2008 @ 1:18 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

Sorry to leave you hanging, Hive. I know I promised more pictures and recaps, but I’ve been in a post-wedding fog. All the joy, love, and excitement have rendered me speechless! I’m trying to snap out of it though, because I have so much that I want to share with you. Part of the problem is figuring out where to even begin, so I think I’ll start some place easy with the hopes that this will jump start me back into my old posting frenzied ways. How about where I left off as I was running out the door to meet with our officiant lunch and then to our rehearsal?

One thing that I am really grateful for was having an officiant who knew what she was doing. Her calmness, focus and understanding of us as people really put me at ease. As luck would have it, her hotel upgraded her to a suite so she suggested that rather than go out for lunch, we stay in and order room service. As soon as we entered her room all of the wedding stress melted away. I felt like I was on the moving walkway at the airport. No point in trying to fling myself off the moving walkway to go mess with some wedding detail that was just all wrong. At the end of the walkway is the wedding and the best thing I could do was just go with the flow and enjoy myself. Hey, the moving walkway is actually pretty fun!

A Sneak Peak at the Gingerbreads

July 25th, 2008 @ 3:29 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

We are still partying with our guests and getting ready to head over to Vancouver Island for the weekend, but I thought I’d stop by before we go to say thank you for all of your wedding wishes!!! I also want to give you a little teaser post, just so you don’t forget about us. ;) Here are a couple of pro photos that our photographer, Carlton Chan, took of us. The first photo is of me heading off to see (almost) Mrs. GB 2.0. Keep in mind that I’d managed to keep her from seeing me in my dress until now. :)

Almost Mrs. Gingerbread

July 18th, 2008 @ 2:34 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

Things are in full swing over here at the Gingerbread house. We have food being prepped for tonight’s rehearsal dinner BBQ, guests are arriving, and just a few minutes ago we picked up buckets full of flowers that Mama Gingerbread will use to make our bridal bouquets.

Geeky Bachelorette Party

July 17th, 2008 @ 1:21 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

On Miss GB 2.0’s last day of work before the wedding, her co-workers got together to give her some cards. She described the experience as “really embarrassing” and when she came home, I understood why.

In ultimate geeky fashion, they crafted her a bachelorette crown out of Post-It notes and a paper clip. Read more…

About Mrs. Gingerbread

Jessamyn Harris has become one of my favourite photographers! Why? Well, first she had that free photography contest to celebrate the California same-sex ruling. Then she started taking lots of photos of same-sex couples. (Thanks to Meg at A Practical Wedding for blogging about this and reminding me of my love for Jessamyn Harris!) I’m going to share a few of my favourites with you, but there’s lots more good stuff on her blog. I mean, check out these adorable guys. Do you see how they’ve colour coordinated? Love it!

Mad Props

July 15th, 2008 @ 5:49 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

As you may recall, we are planning to do a faux photo booth (or fauxto booth as some clever person said on BeeTV last night. If it was you, claim it, cuz that was a good one :) ). Anyway, we really wanted some fun props but I didn’t want to spend a lot. Luckily, I found some random stuff at the local dollar store that I think will do the trick.

I previously mentioned that I have a couple of faux fur wraps in black and blue that are in the prop box. I also picked up a rainbow lei, a grass skirt, a pink headband with stars and feathers, and some party hats.
