I really hated saying “fiance,” and it never went away but it was really nice to know I wasn’t the only one. Update: I love saying “husband.”

I have a hard time dropping the f-bomb (and obviously I mean fiancé)! I always thought I would relish in the days of fiancé-ness, but now that I’m here, I feel pretentious whenever I say it. Usually I can avoid it by simply saying ‘Mr. Gloss’ rather than ‘my fiance’, but for people who don’t know his name, it is hard to avoid! Mostly this happens in work/elevator conversations, when discussing weekend plans, etc. with coworkers who may not know my fiancé’s name.

Before, I would say, “Oh, my boyfriend and I are going to do so and so this weekend,” and now I have to replace that word with fiancé.

At the end, he gave me the biggest hug - I don’t think he was quite ready to let go.

While we were making sure everything was legal, our guests were lining up to get some of this yumminess:

We hired Diane Bartley to cater our event. Her home is only a few minutes away from our tent location which was key since the tent had no kitchen or water. Our menu was carefully designed so that everything could travel well since it would be all made off-site. She, and the food, was absolutely fantastic.

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since our wedding; I promised myself I would finish my recaps before our first anniversary, so let’s wrap it up!

Last time we spoke (I know it was a long time ago) I left you with all our reception details and mentioned that we were patiently waiting outside the tent to be introduced as husband and wife.

Our parents and fabulous bridal party entered first. The music playing was the instrumental beginning to Angels & Airwaves - The Adventure.

While we were taking a few last pictures, and our guests were getting themselves off the boat, our second shooter Meredith zipped into our tent and took pictures of the set-up and details before our guests got in there. I’m so thankful she was there to capture photos of all the details I put my blood, sweat and tears into.

First up: the tables - if you remember, we opted for rectangular tables.  We had set up the bones of the space the day before (placed all the tables and chairs) but Emilie & Fiona of Pink Orchid weddings transformed the space just as we had discussed and it was perfect.

Today is our 10th anniversary (pre-wedding, of course). A decade is a very long time, in fact, I’ve been with Mr. Gloss almost half of my life.

So naturally, many things have changed since those first few months/years. We’ve grown up and instead of growing apart like many couples that date from a very young age, we’ve grown together. Like all relationships, it’s not rainbows and sunshine 100% of the time—but those are the times that I value the most. I’ll admit sometimes I get so mad at him I don’t even want to be in the same room with him—and while I’m sitting alone, fuming, I realize that even though I can’t stand to look at him right that second, there isn’t anywhere else I’d rather be. Which leads me to the point of this post: I knew I wanted to marry Mr. Gloss when I realized I wasn’t IN-love with him anymore. Now, before you gasp and gossip about me to all your friends, hear me out.

To me, being ’in-love’ comes early in the relationship, there are no worries or concerns, you can’t stand to be apart and spend your days floating on a cloud of bliss. While that is all well and good, it most likely will not last forever.

After our lake cruise/ceremony/cocktail hour(s) was complete we headed back to the dock for the reception! It took some persuading for our guests to actually get off the boat; I don’t blame them for not wanting to leave, though.

Our families and bridal party gathered at the bow of the boat immediately after the ceremony to do a champagne toast and start the family portraits. There was lots of hugging going on at this point. I gave a few to the other important men in my life:

Remember me? I started my recaps and then dropped off the face of the planet? Sorry about that, but I have a good reason, I promise.

When we left off we had just boarded the boat.

After our captains declared we had reached ‘the spot’ they cut the engines and we got ready to process down the aisle. We lined up just like we had practiced the night before, and Mr. Gloss gave the “we’re ready” sign. I really don’t know who he was signaling to – but clearly somebody got the message because our music started playing and it was time to get married!!!

I love shopping, and I especially love shopping with other people’s money ;). Macy’s was having some great sales this weekend (25% off, including sale items!) so I put those wedding gift cards to use and cleaned up some of the items off our registries. Instead of just coming home and putting them away I decided to wrap them and put them under the tree with a tag that read:

I know I should be finishing my recaps, but my computer is broken – and my Blackberry isn’t advanced enough to be able to resize pictures. So, they are on pause until I make up my mind about what kind of computer I want. Anyways, the point of the story is this:

My loving husband came home with what he dubbed ‘Wedding Ice-Cream’.

He really had me at ice cream, but wedding ice cream sounded like a huge bonus. As I manhandled the shopping bag from him I saw this inside:
