Da Pool Party Results

October 20th, 2008 @ 2:30 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

The super casual poolside rehearsal after party we planned turned out wonderfully. The weather was fabulous, and people kept saying how they were so glad we did this instead of a sit down dinner. We entertained about 50 guests, and the gazebo area we rented was secluded to give our party privacy and plenty of room to hang out and mingle…

…yet it was still only steps from the pools for the guests’ enjoyment as the sun set in the background!

How to be a Rocking Bride

October 1st, 2008 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

This past weekend, Mr. GT and I attended our first wedding as married guests in lovely Reno, NV. Here Mr. GT’s ‘little sis’ will show you how to be a bride who ROCKS!

1) First, you gotta make all your brothers (pseudo and blood) look like wimps standing next to you at all times (Mr. GT is on the far left, BIL GT is on the far right):

2) Be walked down the aisle by not just one, but TWO handsome boys who love you to death:

Our Happy Wedding Website

September 27th, 2008 @ 11:07 am by Mrs. Green Tea

If there is one thing I do well, it is to use the crap out of any free resources. We got a ton of good feedback on our website, so I thought I’d share some snapshots. We’re not web or graphics savvy folks, but I think we left a good impression with visitors by keeping it real. (see readable versions via the ‘biggerize!’ links)

The Welcome Page - To keep it casual, we chose a photo we took of our goofy selves rather than using one of our e-pics. The text invites them to explore, with our choice songs playing in the background (more detail on the music below):

Small Gifts, Big Heart

September 19th, 2008 @ 2:16 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

I’ve already told you about the thoughtful wedding present from the hubs. Since he had to give it to me a week prior to the wedding so I could enjoy them before the honeymoon, I gave him one of his wedding presents at the same time in exchange:

We have a little tradition to get a Christmas ornament that marks each year. I love that this teapot ornament is shaped much like our monogram - a subtle way to pay our wedding year a little tribute, and it’s something we will keep and use for years to come.

Sentiments (Or My Lack Thereof)

September 18th, 2008 @ 10:26 am by Mrs. Green Tea

A year ago yesterday (I think it was yesterday, maybe it’s today…) I came home from work and these Casablanca Lilies, my favorite bloom, were waiting for me. Coincidentally, there was a trail of ants in the kitchen, which I got right to cleaning up.

2-in-1 GT Honeymoon, Part 1

September 12th, 2008 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Green Tea

Now that the mister has explained the planning of our two-part honeymoon, it is time to show you the results. Despite our worries, the weather was great (no sign of hurricanes!) and Labor Day crowds were thin. I know honeymoon posts aren’t super exciting to read unless you’re interested in visiting the same places, so I’ll just overload you with pictures and include some key tips for the ’moon planners out there who may benefit from them.

Ready? Go!

We started out cruising, on the Norwegian Sky:

Our first stop was the Grand Bahamas Island where we swam with, hugged, and kissed (on the lips!) dolphins

Moon Planning by Mr. GT - The Backup Plan

September 11th, 2008 @ 11:26 am by Mrs. Green Tea

Rolling the Dice

OK, so if you read my last post, you know that I planned for us to take a cruise to the Bahamas… during Hurricane season. I knew there could have been problems going into it, so I did at least ask the advice of the unbiased operator at the cruise line. She assured me that if there was a hurricane, the ship could out-run the storm. While it was of some comfort that we wouldn’t be in harm’s way, the amount fun that we would have was now in question. I knew that I would never say, “Hurray for four days stuck on a ship!” Being on the ship was already the least exciting prospect of the cruise, so we needed another plan. What else is there to do in Florida?

My first thought was of the Everglades. I looked into it, and found that while they are open 365 days a year, “During the slow wet season (summer), facilities may have restricted hours or close altogether, and recreational opportunities may be at a minimum.”* There was no way that we were going there, only to possibly miss the best parts of the park.

About Mrs. Green Tea

Mr. Green Tea, here again filling in for Mrs. GT! Due to the enormous amount of energy that my beautiful bride spent planning our wedding, the task of planning our honeymoon fell solely on me. I was given free reign to plan any trip that I wanted (within our budget, of course). Some guys would have loved the opportunity to choose a honeymoon location. This groom knew better. You see, the GT’s don’t do anything half-heartedly, and I knew that this trip had to be great. What a responsibility! I kept asking her opinion on locations and all that I got in return was, “I trust you.”

So, with the weight of her trust on my shoulders, I set out to find the perfect location. My job was made a little easier once I filled in some criteria. It was a process of elimination, and my first choice was Tahiti.
