About Mrs. Strawberry

Week, rather. Very bad week. Here’s a laundry list of all that has gone awry.

1. I have pink eye.

2. I’m sick.

3. I fell in the parking lot this morning and have a nasty bruise on my hand. My ring also cut my finger.

4. My cats gnawed on the edges of some of my programs. They look like they fell in the garbage disposal.

5. Said cats also broke a very expensive apothecary jar I was going to use for my candy buffet. And when I say broke, I mean into a thousand pieces.

6. I now have a piece of glass lodged in my foot.

7. My car wouldn’t start this morning.

8. I was late for work because of said car.

9. My dvr didn’t record any of my new favorite shows last night. The Real Housewives of Orange County? The Bad Girls Club? Yup. Not there.

10. Is it possible for your hair to hurt? Mine does.

Oh no! Here are my suggestions for feeling better.

1. Warm compresses will help your pinkeye feel better, and will keep you from rubbing your eyes. Here’s to a speedy recovery!

2. Take lots of fluids and vitamin C, and make sure you get plenty of rest.

3. The vitamin C will help the bruise and the cut to heal; you can also put antibiotic cream on the cut and cover it with a bandaid.

4. Can you use a paper cutter to trim the programs? Maybe one of those curved corner cutters?

5. Well, bring out the vacuum, and remember that it was just a jar, albeit a very expensive one.

6. Soak your foot in warm salt water; which will help to draw the sliver out. If you have someone to help you, they can use sterilized tweezers or a sterilized needle (put in boiling water for a few minutes) to help remove the sliver.

7. I don’t know anything about cars; sorry!

8. :( All I can do is sympathize.

9. Read a good book instead, or call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. It stinks to miss favorite shows, but look on the bright side - it gives you a little more free time!

10. Your scalp can certainly hurt. Try some Advil or Aleve (will also help with the bruise), light a soothing candle, and try to relax.

I’ve had days like this too, and they are awful, but eventually everything will be resolved!

If its any consolation, your ring is so pretty, I didn’t notice the bruise till after I read #3. Hang in there.

That is so thoughtful! I love your post Go Amie, as it is all excellent advice. I can’t top it, except to say that I think it will be funny later. Your wedding is a long way off and there is plenty of time. Just think, mine is in three months and I am happy to have a venue, an officiant (sort of) and a photographer.

I also did not notice the bruise until I read about it! Your ring is so pretty and I love reading about your plans! Also, it’s the first day that we’ve gotten above 50 degrees in Seattle and it’s sunny and beautiful! It’s totally smiling weather.

Some days are like that… even in Australia….Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, by Judith Voight, is one of my favorite books of ALL time!! I keep the book on hand to give to friends that are having the yuckies. (I am assuming that you are referencing that book - if not, im clearly reading into things, but regardless next time you go to the book store for bridal magazines, stop off in the children’s section and give it a quick read, I promise you wont be disappointed). I hope your day improves!

Miss Stawberry:
What size was your apothecary jar? I have a couple and might be able to give you one if it’s the right size.

I hope tomorrow is better!!! My best friend (and MOH) have a copy of that book that goes back and forth between us. We always write a note inside the cover to cheer the other one up. It is a little reminder of everything we have been through together. So my suggestion is to talk to a friend who can help cheer you up. In a while you will look back at today and laugh, but I hope you feel better. And your ring is amazing

I also have those bad luck stretches, where it’s like, wtf is this a conspiracy against me? But I also believe in karma, which means you’ll have a spetacular week ahead! (at least convince yourself to believe that)
