Tiramisu Table Numbers

May 27th, 2008 @ 2:18 pm by Mrs. Tiramisu

A lot of ideas have passed through my little head about table numbers. For a long time I wanted to do photos of Mr. T and I at the age that corresponded to the number of the table, like this gorgeous example. When those photos proved hard to track down (Mr. Tiramisu is one of five… it’s tricky to dig through so many piles of photos!), we thought about photos of places we had traveled or were important to us. At one point we considered photos that featured our dog, Duncan, posed with signs showing our table numbers. With time quickly slipping away before the wedding, I decided to go with the obvious choice that is right in front of us- our engagement pictures (all photos taken by the lovely Girls With Big Cameras).

Mrs. Onion had mentioned the photo-printing website Mpix a long time ago, and it was one of those things that I filed away in my brain for future use- I am really glad that I did! I ordered 5×7 photos from www.mpix.com and I am really impressed with the quality of the paper and printing. They were the same price as some of the other websites I’ve used in the past for photo printing (Kodak Gallery, Snapfish), but there is definitely a difference in quality. So thanks Mrs. Onion!

We picked 20 of our favorite shots- hopefully we’ll only need about 18 tables- but I ordered the extra just in case, and now I just have to figure out how exactly to display them. Should I try to find inexpensive yet decent looking frames? Or should I go Cream Puff style with the little sandwich tents? Also, any suggestions for what, if anything, should go on the reverse side?

Those are great! I love how you did some B/W and some in color.

Those look great. If you are only doing them 1-sided, you could use little easels to display them on each table.

I would make them double sided that way, what ever direction you come from you can see them.

But I also like the easel idea. Or maybe a poem or something meaningful to you. Or what about telling your guests to upload their photos to a website … i think Cherry blossom did that on her place cards ;)

Not sure if it will be fancy enough, but you could have them mounted at a place like Kinko’s and place them on small easels. I saw some nice ones at the Christmas Tree Shop for $1.99 each, but you can probably find inexpensive ones at Michael’s or a larger craft shop.

If you do sandwich boards, you could put a quote about love/marriage or repeat a motif from your stationary/invitations on the other side. But if you only have one copy of each photo, I would do a frame/easel.

PS - Thanks for the photo printing recommendation!

Just wanted to state that I’ve been an avid user of MPIX for years. As a photographer I am very picky about printing and color corrections and MPIX is awesome. They’re prices are great and their printing quality is even better!

If you go with the frames, I say keep it simple. Target usually has great 4×6 frames for pretty cheap. Sometimes the end caps hold a treasure chest full of $1 frames in black, brown, white, gold, and platinum.

@catherine38: Thanks! I used photoshop to add the numbers- I have the (cheaper) elements version.

I think they will be gorgeous any way you display them! Michael’s is also a great source for picture frames. They have 50% of sales quite often. I got 20 frames for $100 and they are brushed silver with a milgrain detail.

Those are cute! if you need something to put on the back side:

1. famous/not so famous quotes or poems that have to do w/ your relationship, ie; love, friendship, loyalty, etc. Like:

Joy - “To get the full value of joy, you have to have someone to divide it with.” Mark Twain

Treasure - “The most precious posession that ever comes to a man in this world, is a woman’s heart.” Josiah G. Holland

2. Well known/not so well known facts about the two of you as a couple, ie; how you met, what your favorite places to go are, plans post ceremony, etc.

3. Little blurps that describe your feelings/emotions at the time the picture was taken…

That’s all I can think of…..!

Beautiful pics! We’re doing frames with easels for table #s, I bought them at Ikea. I think it was $2 or 3 for a 4×6 wooden frame and easel. We’re keeping the wood as is, but they’d be really easy to stain or paint any color. Even if you don’t go the easel route, they have a great selection of inexpensive frames there. So cute!

If you decided to display the back or needed something on the back I think it would be fun to put a little known fact or trivia about you and Mr. T or a story about the two of you. Have different stories/quotes for different pictures and have a mixture of things of the back. I would love to read that if I were sitting at your tables!

LOVE!
We used our engagement pics the exact same way. I like your photos a lot more though. I think I have the same shot in Annapolis (without you of course) looking down a street there with a church or something in the background.

how did you get the numbers on the photos? i can’t seem to find it on mpix’s website. thanks!

23.
Tiramisu says:

@Rachel: Hi! I actually added the numbers myself in Photoshop Elements (some white some black depending on the photo). Hope that helps!

Hi Mrs. Tiramisu! Love your table number idea! What font did you use for the numbers and what did you end up doing for the stands? I’m thinking about doing this:
