Details - Part Three : wedding pictures recap 00537 Last minute I decided to make Bride and Groom signs to be placed at our spots at the table. We wanted to sit right in the middle of the table facing out to everyone who was there, and not to the dance floor. It gave those few minutes, between everyone visiting us to say hello, to really soak in all of the people that came together that night. :)

09.27.08 Details - Part Two

November 13th, 2008 @ 3:54 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

I don’t know whether it was the blood, sweat and tears, and I do mean a lot of tears, that went into planning our wedding that made me want detail pictures so much, or if it was just so that I could always have these visual reminders of everything that was seen, heard, and enjoyed from the most perfect night of my life, thus far. Either way, I am so happy that Perez Photography (all photos below credit to them) went out of their way to capture these images. :)

Before We Finish Recapping…

November 7th, 2008 @ 10:45 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

I just have to make a confession. As on top of things as I was for the wedding, I completely slacked when it came to the thank yous. Yesterday we finally finished my side of the family, and up next is Mr. H’s side. We haven’t hit the two month mark since the wedding, but it is creeping up on us at a fast rate.

To make myself feel a little better about waiting so long to write them, I took the awesome photos that we received on disk from Perez Photography and made a little collage to print onto a postcard. I opted to use Vista Print because we used them quite a few times and were always happy with the quality. We chose the extra large postcards, knowing we wouldn’t save on postage, just so that everyone could enjoy the pics as much as we have! So, without further ado…

Before We Finish Recapping... : wedding stationery thank you Untitle04The front side … we chose to do all color except for two of our favorite black and white photos (which are also my fav pics from the wedding… period). There’s also a little teaser of the photos to come in my last few posts!

A Festive Anniversary

November 6th, 2008 @ 3:38 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

As I was driving to work this morning I realized that two anniversaries will occur on Thanksgiving this year - which, happens to be two days after my birthday - not that you needed to know, I just find that particularly important :)

Mr. H and I went out on Thanksgiving Eve in 2005 and we both, not purposely, made each other jealous by talking to the opposite sex. It was after this night out that Mr. H decided to kiss me - a night that I will never forget. Since we spent just about every single day together since that night, I consider Thanksgiving to be our pre-wedding anniversary.

And Miss Becomes Mrs.

October 31st, 2008 @ 9:33 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

I was completely surprised that our ceremony was exactly one hour long, maybe even a little less, considering all of the Spanish traditions that we included in our ceremony. We were so on top of things time wise, that I waited in the bridal room for almost two hours before I could see Mr. H again!

Here are some highlights of when we finally said our I dos, after 14 months of planning!

09.27.08 - The First Look

October 27th, 2008 @ 1:50 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

Mr. H and I opted to see each other before the ceremony. The main reason for this was because our ceremony started so late (6:30 PM), was a full hour-long mass, and we would still be taking some family pics at the altar after the wedding. We wanted to get some good pics with each other and with our bridal party, so meeting before was our best option, and I’m so happy that we chose to do this because it eased a lot of nerves (especially Mr. H’s)!

09.27.08 - Getting Ready

October 20th, 2008 @ 10:58 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

The girls’ (and I mean all of us, me included) plans to get up bright and early for yoga on the day of the wedding were thwarted by a late night upstairs at the Ghostbar at the hotel. One of my bridesmaids got up and went, and then took a run, but the rest of us found sleep to be much more satisfying.

We ordered some room service and lounged around the hotel room until a knock at the door unveiled our videographer, Chris Watson, and, a few minutes later, the hair and makeup ladies from Elan Make-up Studio.

Once Perez Photography, our amazing photographers, showed up, we were all beautified and it was just about time for us to get into our dresses. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

Not a Mrs. de Hydrangea :(

October 16th, 2008 @ 3:26 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

Yesterday I took on the task of changing my name. I collected all of the proper paperwork and headed out to do the following, in this order:1) Get two certified copies of my marriage certificate.

2) Change Driver’s License.

3) Change Social Security.

I’m going to share my experiences with you all, but please know that this was only my personal experience in the State of Texas. While I work in the big city of Dallas, I opted to go back near our home, in a smaller town and much smaller county, to avoid lines (which I highly recommend). In total, with all transit times, it took me 3 hours to complete all of my tasks, plus I stopped at home to fill and print out my passport info and get pictures taken at my local Walgreens.

It’s Only a Name… Or Is It?

October 13th, 2008 @ 4:05 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

Hello hive! Long time no talk!

I know I’ve been pretty MIA since our big day, but before I get to posting about the rehearsal, wedding day, and honeymoon, I thought I’d share with you one MAJOR compromise that Mr. H and I had right before the wedding.

About two weeks before we were set to tie the knot, Mrs. (then Miss) H got a little nervous about the whole name change thing. OK, not just a little nervous, I got super duper emotional. I had decided earlier on that I would make my maiden name a second middle name, i.e.:

First Middle Maiden Last

When all of my wedding emotions hit me like a ton of bricks those couple of weeks before the wedding, I realized that one of my biggest emotions was that of losing my last name. I never thought that this would be such an issue, but I guess that finally coming to terms with no longer having the same name that I’d had for 26 years really was more sad then I had thought.

I talked to Mr. H about possibly not changing my name at all—he wasn’t into this.

Last Minute Detail

October 1st, 2008 @ 5:10 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

When I was creating all of the station signs for the food, we decided last minute that we wanted Bride and Groom signs for our seats at the table. All of our guests were assigned tables, but not specific seats. However, yours truly wanted to make sure our seats were not only distinguishable, but the best in the house as well.

Get Your Programs!

September 30th, 2008 @ 9:32 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

I took it upon myself to create our programs. To create the “guts” of the program, I opted to use Adobe InDesign with the same fonts that have been consistent with all of our wedding things. I waited to complete these until the week before the wedding, after we had the coordinators and priest review it.

For the Rest of the Girls!

September 29th, 2008 @ 9:31 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

I mentioned in my bridesmaid gift post that I created necklaces for all of the girls. I actually made these necklaces for all of the bridesmaids, readers, and house party. Now that the rehearsal dinner is over, I can share with you my creations! :)

We live in a small town east of Dallas, but the funny thing is that there is this incredible bead store in my hometown, which has caused Mom H and I to dabble in jewelry making for the past several years. We decided to take a quick class at our local bead store, and off I went to shop and create. After the class, I purchased sterling silver clasps and chain, as well as real pearls and Swarovski crystals. I played around with the lengths and with mixing the different beads.  Here are my results:
