Because I absolutely love sugar and pretty much anything sweet, e.g. I put sugar crystals all over my spaghetti, it was a no-brainer that we were going to have a candy buffet. (Disclaimer: My actions in regards to my spaghetti are not necessarily endorsed by my family and friends).
It took me awhile to to figure out what containers to provide for our candy buffet because there were so many choices. I narrowed it down to glassine containers vs. white take out boxes. In the end the cute take out boxes won. I placed pink stickers on each box with our names and wedding date on them. I absolutely love how they turned out. I also cleaned out the local dollar store and bought all their stainless steel scoops. What a deal!
1/2 pint white take-out boxes from Paper Mart at .09 cents each or $4.65 for a package of 50

So because I have nothing else to do but work, eat, sleep, and plan our dream wedding, I decided I needed another DIY project to add to all the pending wedding projects!
Since we are having a hugantic bridal party, I needed several gift bags to place all their thank you gifts in. Enter DIY lightbulb!
I purchased plain, white gift bags from Michael’s, busted out my precious Vintage Paris Stamp Set, warmed up my stamping muscles and you have the makings of a new craft mission.
Well here is a sneak peek of our table setting! It’s really not how I wanted it to look, but you knew that.
Not really much more to say that I haven’t already. My therapist says the sooner I post a picture the closer I am to getting back into tip-top wedding planning mode.
Yah, as if I have any extra moolah to spend on a therapist. That’s what Mr. Jelly Beans is for.

We had our table mock up appointment yesterday at 11:00 AM. I had made arrangements with our reception venue, wedding planner and florist for this day about a month ago. We walk in at 11:00 AM. Yeay! My centerpiece is there. In the middle of an empty table. Yup! That’s right. Empty!I was really quite disappointed. I was told by our event coordinator that we would have 2 full rounds completely set up. Then to make matter worse, our coordinator was nowhere to be found. When they realized they had screwed up, they all scrambled to set the table, how do I put this nicely, half-assed! Instead of 2 full tables, we got 5 place settings that were thrown haphazardly together. I am not a table setting expert but I don’t think cutlery is optional.
My wedding planner had another appointment so by the time we got everything going she had to go. And the cherry on my rapidly melting sundae, was when the event coordinator waltzed in with no apologies offered for the unprofessional service.
I finally got around to taking pictures of our invitations.
MJB Disclaimer: Warning. Excessive amount of images ahead. May cause bridal overload.

My mom and I worked on the kids shirts yesterday and they turned out way better than I imagined. I purchased pink and green shirts from Michaels. Alas they didn’t have any brown ones, but they were on SALE! Yeay!
I also bought some iron on letters. They had so many to choose from but I picked the collegiate looking ones.
We placed their initials in the front, and then their respective ages, by the time we are married, on the opposite sleeve. I thought it would be a nice momento for both their parents and the kids. So when they look back many, many eons from now they will remember that they were “insert age here” when they performed the special task of ringbearer or flowergirl!
We rolled the shirts up and tied them with an inexpensive white ribbon!!! I think the contrast against the bright colors make them look so freakin’ cute. ![]()
Bring on the pics….
One sleepless night in Ottawa, I started my menu cards and table names assembly line. *beep, beep, beep, beep*
What bride doesn’t dream of having the perfect invitations? Well I am definitely one of those brides. When I was growing up I was completely fascinated by the intricacies and detail that went into each invitation. I would get so excited when my parents received them in the mail and I loooved opening them! So it didn’t surprise me that this was going to be one of the more important decisions that we or I was going to make. I browsed websites upon websites, scoured all the bridal magazines but I just couldnt find the “one”. Finding my groom-to-be was easier than this!
I loved the look of cherry blossoms, and thought this would be the perfect starting point. But all the invitations that I liked were beyond our alloted invitation budget.
Fast forward to our August 2006 trip to the Philippines. I received an invite to go to a wedding show and the rest is invitation history. I finally found them! Phew! And they were so within our budget that I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. I placed my deposit the day before we left for Canada. At that point I didn’t think about the logistics surrounding it all. All I cared about was that I was going to get the invitations of my dreams. It took me 8 long months to get the custom design completed.
On to my next girly project! I wanted to incorporate the quote we used in our invitations “Live, Laugh and Love” so since I was having a hard time deciding on the Newsletter Name, I had the brilliant idea of using the quote instead. I used one of the templates from Microsoft Word Publisher. I printed them onto ivory linen paper from Staples and attached them together with copper brads along the left side, thus achieving the overall look of vintage and chic. Many sleepless nights later I was done!
Yeay!

Since I started planning our wedding almost two years ago I have undertaken a few DIY projects. I took many, many pictures of my completed projects which I then stored on my Mac and backed up on disc. I guess you can conclude that I am little OCD as well.
So now I will hop on my wedding Delorean and show you what I’ve been up to for the past year and a half. *Cue lights*
My first project: Our Save The Dates
Everyone always asks if our wedding date held great importance to our relationship. An anniversary or a first date perhaps? Nope, we simply picked it because I was hoping it wouldn’t be too hot that day for our tent reception. ![]()
I had no clue where to begin. This is when I started looking online for ideas and then started living and breathing wedding forums. I was walking through Chapters one day, which is the Canadian equivalent of Barnes and Nobles, looking at their cute but random stuff geared towards defenseless females. Then I saw it , Vintage Paris Book Plates!!!!! Perfection!
Hi *points to name tag* I am Miss Jelly Beans and I am a weddingplannaholic!
Once upon a time (July 2005), in a land far, far away (it’s really not that far), Mr. Jelly Beans got down on one knee (he hates getting his clothes dirty, so I knew this was big), on a very windy day (good thing I had a cute white blazer on), at the very top of the Eiffel tower and asked Miss Jelly Beans to be his wife. To this day he claims Tom Cruise stole his idea.
We have been together for almost 9 years now and have been in a long distance relationship for 6. I moved from sunny-all-year, Los Angeles to four-seasons, Ottawa 6 years ago with my family. This was not a deterrent but merely a minor navigational glitch in our relationship.
Since that day, I have been envisioning our pink, brown and sparkly wedding with a vintage, Parisian twist. My middle name is Details. People (Mr. Jelly Beans & my mom) refer to me as, Miss Jelly Details Beans.
