Once my parents “gave” me away, I joined Mr. Joey, MOH Joey and BM Joey on the altar. Instead of having a full mass, we opted to do a Catholic blessing instead. Neither of us are regular mass goers and Mr. Joey is less Catholic than I am. We thought a blessing would be a nice compromise, plus, we needed to keep the ceremony short…

All I can say is: FINALLY. After all the prepping and the planning, the most important part of the day was finally happening.

FIL and MIL Joey came in first. Not sure why Mr. Joey didn’t come in with his Mom.

After we had our first look, a certain someone ran in to let us know it was time for the family portraits.

After Mr. Joey and I got a little something in our bellies and Jess got all his detail shots, it was finally time for the first look.

I wasn’t nervous because we were getting married and making a lifetime commitment (who would be nervous about that?), I was nervous because Mr. Joey had heard so much about the dress, seen the shoes and little accessories, but…

While I was getting into my dress, the early arrivers were grabbing a little something to eat and a big something to drink. Our breakfast bar was set up in the school entrance plaza so people could hang out in the sunshine or shade during breakfast.

While I was getting my hair done, my photographer Jess ran off with my dress. I figured he wanted to take pictures of it in a locker or run it up the school’s flag pole. The teacher’s lounge where I got ready wasn’t exactly a pretty place to shoot the dress.

The morning of the wedding was thankfully more calm than stressful. I spent the night with my parents at a hotel near the wedding chapel, so I got to sleep in until about 6:30 AM. And I actually slept. I had been so tired and it had been so hot that I never got more than 2 or 3 hours of sleep each night during…

After dessert and gifts, everyone stuck around a while and tried to squeeze a few more blissful moments out of the evening.

To thank all our friendors, readers, ushers, and wedding party, we bought everyone t-shirts. We wanted something fun that people would use but that would fit in our tiny budget. The t-shirts were a hit! Everyone loved how each shirt sort of represented their personalities.

Our delicious meal was followed by one of our favorite desserts—ice cream. We didn’t serve your run-of-the-mill grocery store ice cream; it was one of our favorites from a local ice cream shop, Molly Moon. It is oh so good. They have amazing flavors. I love the honey lavender, but we went with our favorites: Salted Caramel, Vivace Coffee, and Strawberry Balsamic. We love salty…

We decided early on that Papa Joey would skip giving a toast altogether – he gets too emotional and isn’t comfortable talking in front of crowds. We also decided that FIL Joey would give a toast at the rehearsal dinner. Papa Joey told me later he was glad he skipped giving a toast. FIL Joey is a professional speaker (a professor) and his toast was engaging, sentimental and perfect. Papa Joey was happy to leave it to the master.
