We are back from our whirlwind wedding extravaganza in the Cayman Islands, and it was so much more fun than I could have ever imagined! We had a fantastic time on our beach vacation with 75 of our closest friends and family. The highlights included dressing up like pirates, kissing stingrays, and, of course, saying, “I do!” to Mr. Kitten. I wish I could do it all over again; it went by so fast! Fortunately, our photographers, The Nichols, and our cinematographer, Joe Simon, didn’t miss a beat! I can’t wait to share the photos and video they captured with all of you as I recap our wedding. But until then, I will be sharing some of the projects that I didn’t get to tell you about in the weeks before the wedding!
xoxo

Our day is finally here! I am SO excited to become Mrs. Kitten today, and to begin our new life together! Wherever life (or the Army!) takes us, I know that it will be great because we truly are better together. I never could have imagined a person so perfect for me—you are patient, caring, and always know how to make me smile. Today will be a truly unforgettable day filled with love, friendship, and family, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
XOXO,
Miss Kitten

I know I’ve been MIA lately, but with only a week until my wedding, there is so much I want to share with you!
As you can imagine, the last few weeks before the wedding are filled with last-minute details and projects. And I had the perfect opportunity to tackle these tasks! My law school spring break was three weeks before the wedding–an entire week with no school, and plenty of time to tie up all those loose ends! Unfortunately for me, my body didn’t cooperate with my plan. A week before spring break I came down with a nasty cold. A cold that persisted and developed into bronchitis–keeping me bedridden during spring break. When I first got sick, a terrifying thought ran through my head: What if I got sick on my wedding day? I couldn’t even bear the thought, telling myself that I am sick now and getting it over with, so I won’t be sick on the wedding day!
And now, three weeks later, I am sicker than ever. Read more…

I’ve been dropping hints for a while now (skull and crossbones on the Fruit-Roll-Ups?! Pirate ships on the invitations!?), but now that our invitations are out and guests have seen them, I can tell you all about the Kitten Wedding Pirate Party!
Yes, I said Pirate Party! Instead of having a large rehearsal dinner where we invite all of the out-of-town guests (which is everyone at a destination wedding!) we decided to have a fun, pirate-themed party aboard a pirate ship in Grand Cayman! Read more…

As our wedding gets closer, one MAJOR detail of our big day is driving me crazy. Should we do a “first look”, or wait until the ceremony to see each other? Although I’m not one to rigidly stick to longstanding wedding traditions (bye-bye garter toss!), I have always imagined that on my wedding day, my hubby-to-be would see me for the first time as I was walking down the aisle. I’ll admit it–this is all based on the fact that I want Mr. K to tear up (which I’ve only seen happen once—when he proposed)! I just want that point where he sees me walking down the aisle to be a huge, breathtaking moment for both of us. And if we spend all day taking pictures before the ceremony, I just don’t see that happening. Read more…

I’ve lived in Austin for almost three years now. Unfortunately for me, for most of that time I could be found at the UT Law Library, studying my little heart out and not at any of the fun-filled places below. I don’t recommend including a trip to the Law Library when visiting Austin, unless of course, the sight of over a million volumes of dusty law books and hundreds of terrified, over-caffeinated law students is your kind of thing. As I woefully count down the days until I am no longer an Austinite, I have promised myself that I will try to take full advantage of all of the fantastic activities this city has to offer! If Mr. K and I were going to have one final fling in Austin, this is how we would do it:

I’ve been collecting ceremony readings for a while, and it’s about time to get our selections finalized! From what I know, most tropical, outdoor ceremonies go by pretty quickly, so I wanted to have several readings so that our ceremony isn’t over in the blink of an eye! I’ve picked a selection of both religious and non-religious passages that I think represent Mr. K and I as a couple. The only problem is that I’m not quite sure how many readings is TOO MANY. I’ve weeded some out and I think I’ll be able to incorporate the passages below without putting our guests to sleep.
Union by Robert Fulghum (Minister Reads)
You have known each other from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment. At some point, you decided to marry. From that moment of yes to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making promises and agreements in an informal way. All those conversations that were held riding in a car or over a meal or during long walks - all those sentences that began with “When we’re married” and continued with “I will and you will and we will”- those late night talks that included “someday” and “somehow” and “maybe”- and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart. All these common things, and more, are the real process of a wedding. The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, “ You know all those things we’ve promised and hoped and dreamed- well, I meant it all, every word.” Look at one another and remember this moment in time. Before this moment you have been many things to one another- acquaintance, friend, companion, lover, dancing partner, and even teacher, for you have learned much from one another in these last few years. Now you shall say a few words that take you across a threshold of life, and things will never quite be the same between you. For after these vows, you shall say to the world, this- is my husband, this- is my wife.

About a month ago I was scoping out the arts and crafts section at Wal-Mart when I came across this Martha Stewart Tissue Paper Bouquet Kit on sale for $6.87. We were on our way out of town because Mr. K was competing in a duathlon. Our wedding invitations arrived just short of two weeks ago. Why am I just telling you about them now? Because I am crazy and a masochist.
I ordered these lovely invitations from Laura Hooper. Laura designed our STDs and I was extremely happy with them. I loved her invitation line, but sadly it was out of my budget (sigh–how I love letterpress). But Laura worked with us to design an invitation suite that we could squeeze into my budget. Read more…

Because of Mr. K’s school and Army obligations, he can only take one week off for our wedding. And because we wanted to be able to spend the wedding week enjoying the Cayman Islands with our friends and family, we planned the wedding for the last few days of his break. The only problem is that this doesn’t leave us room for a honeymoon! Mr. K and I will have a grand total of two days and two nights alone together before we go back to the real world. In order to get the most out of this time, we are staying in the Cayman Islands and have dubbed our little vacation our “Minimoon”.

I think I can safely say that I am the biggest procrastinator out of all the Bees! Who else changes the color scheme of their wedding with less than 50 days to go before the big event? One of the dangerous things about Weddingbee is that you can become TOO INSPIRED by all the wonderful wedding goodness you read about on the site. The possibilities for making your wedding personal and customized are endless! And if you are short on time, it can be difficult to squeeze in all of the things you want to do before the wedding.
After outlining the terrifying to-do-list of tasks I need to complete before the wedding, I realized there were a few things I left off! Moo cards are one of those things! I have been coveting Moo cards for a while now. A long line of Bees have used them for various purposes. For those of you who don’t know, Moo prints business cards, post cards, stickers, and other products. The cool part is that you get to print multiple images or text in a set of cards. For example, if you order 100 cards, you can have a different design on each one! Plus, the cards are printed on both sides, increasing your design options even more! Miss Hot Cocoa recently blogged about her Moo cards, featuring her engagement pictures! Read more…
