Now that the dress search has come to a happy ending, are you ready to move on? YES, me too. Next up? Wedding colors!
I think wedding color combos are super important as they can pretty much set the scene/feel/mood of the wedding. Other aspects, of course, work to create a final “look”, but colors invoke such a strong feeling that will translate to the wedding day. For example… close your eyes… what words come to mind when you think of these colors?
Yellow and white? Light and fresh!
Black and white? Formal and modern!
Orange and brown? Warm and cozy!
As usual, I had a hard time choosing colors. Mr. Latte and I wanted our wedding to have a clean, crisp and casual feeling for our guests. So we had to think outside of the proverbial (Crayola) box to come up with a palette that fit our wedding style.
Mr Latte’s only request was that the colors weren’t too “girly”.

The day has come! You ready for this??? I chose…
CAUTION: WHITE DRESSES AHEAD.
Mr. Latte, if you cheated and peeked before, that’s OK, I forgive you. But now I’m serious. Do not move ahead.

Now we’re all caught up! After the run, was I fully satisfied with my dress? The one that my team and I worked so hard to find? No, of course not. I decided to keep trudging through.
Oh! At this point in the saga, Miss Latte officially became a Miss Latte-to-be! With a beautiful ring planted firmly on my finger, I felt a renewed sense of energy… post-run, I visited a total of 16 bridal salons across 3 states. I can’t even count how many dresses I tried on… or how many times I’ve tried on the same dress. I was lost.
As a reward for reading this far, I will spare you the details of each visit. Instead, I will share with you the highlights and experiences that were the catalysts in finally (FINALLY!) deciding on my dress.
Mr. Latte, you know what to do.

I apologize… I’ve misled you. Yes, I did go for a “run” to find my dress, but I didn’t tell you the whole story. The truth is, I did a little bit of dress hunting before the run. You gotta!!! (See previous post’s Tip #2.)
Let’s rewind and start at the very beginning. The story really begins with a single Miss Latte flipping through bridal magazines and dreaming of her wedding gown (admit it, you did it too!). I knew I liked the fit-to-flare/mermaid/trumpet look, and wanted something traditional, yet modern, with a splash of unique.
I quickly fell in love with the style of a certain designer named Melissa Sweet.
CAUTION: WHITE DRESSES AHEAD.
Mr. Latte, you gotta bounce.

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
OK, this is where it gets good. Let me set the scene for you.
It’s 6:45 AM. There’s a little over an hour left until the doors finally open. Hundreds of brides and their entourages rub their sleepy eyes and down cups of coffee (preferably lattes!!!) to get physically and mentally ready for what lies ahead. A whisper of a rumor (much like that old-school game, Telephone) makes it way down the line to my team…
They’re opening the doors at 7!!!
We immediately spring to life, collecting all our belongings and making sure we have everything. Signs? Check. Full-length mirror? Check. Shoelaces tied? Check.
And sure enough, at the stroke of 7, the doors to the convention center magically opened and we were ushered inside to wait in front of the doors of the actual room… the starting line! My team and I were pretty close to the front, so we were able to peek into the room and catch a glimpse of the seemingly never-ending racks of big, flowy white dress goodness.
CAUTION: WHITE DRESSES AHEAD.
Mr. Latte, if you’re reading please stop here. Seriously. Just stop. Thanks, bye.

(if I had short hair, this would be me)
I have a hard time making decisions. It doesn’t matter if they’re big and life changing or little and insignificant. At that decision-making moment, my brain goes crazy and the teeniest decisions suddenly become HUGE. This has become quite a problem recently as I’m learning that wedding planning is all about making decisions. Sigh.
I’m the girl that spends an hour in a dressing room deciding between 2 different colors of the same dress. And then I’ll delay the decision even longer by buying both of them while promising myself that I’ll return one after trying them on again with “better lighting”. See? Crazy.
And that’s just a simple dress. Imagine the craziness I experienced (or rather, my friends witnessed) when I had to decide on a big, white, and expensive one!
So, it should come as no surprise when I confess to you all that I am a 2 1/3 dress bride. Yup, you read that correctly. 2 and 1/3. How is that possible you ask? Read on, my friends, read on.

Hi! I’m Miss Latte!
(looking left…looking right…rubbing eyes…blink, blink)
Is this for real? Am I really here? As a bee? WOW!
I’m super excited and honored to join the hive! When I received the news, I was at work and screamed so loudly that everyone ran over to make sure I was OK. Is a grown woman sitting in front of a computer screen with her hands covering her face, laughing and crying simultaneously “OK”??? Oh, hecks yeah she is!
I’ve been an avid Weddingbee reader since waaay before I even met Mr. Latte, so my “wedding idea notebook” is full of great tips and pieces of advice from the bees. I hope that my experiences will give you as much inspiration and as many creative ideas as I’ve received from them!
Let me start by introducing us…the Lattes. I live in Boston, Mr. Latte lives in the Bay Area, and we’ve been in a long distance relationship since the very beginning.
