What’s up, y’all?! Well, it’s official, we are MARRIED! That Saturday night was, to date, the best night of my life. I have never felt so loved, confident, and excited, and wish I could do it all over again and again!!
Mr. L and I felt so blessed, as the day truly was perfect (for us) — we were surrounded by sunshine(!!!), almost every member in our extended families, and amazing friends, old and new. Read more…

So, this is it. Here we are, sixteen months later, and it’s finally go-time. Yesterday was pure insanity as the torrential rains rolled through town and the power went out at our little bridal lunch. Let me tell you, that was fun. No worries, a bit of pinot and some renegade sunshine arrived in the late afternoon and we were able to rehearse outside! Here’s hoping today follows suit!
There are so many things from yesterday that I want to share with y’all, from my groom-to-be eating a cheeseburger at the “altar” while we practiced our vows, to the monsoon that hit SA, to the lovely (and incredibly overwhelming) rehearsal dinner including a very special guest, but for now I have to get ready to get married, so I’ll leave you with this… Read more…

This is about half of our crap. Double it, add a big white dress/veil/accessories, 7 pieces of luggage, a dog bed big enough to accommodate an 80-lb. fur baby, me, and Vida, and you have our haul. I don’t comprehend the meaning of “pack light”.
Today I leave Austin for San Antonio. In a few short hours my mother will be headed north in a rented van to pick up all of the wedding items, my dog, and me. Thus begins the whirlwind of activity (and more than likely a bit of chaos) that is my wedding weekend.
I am super excited to see my family that has been trickling in over the last few days. Read more…

We’re down to the wire, people. With just 5 short days left, Mr. L and I are knocking projects out left and right. Yesterday we headed to the Costco to pick up some provisions to load up in our little gift bags for our out of town guests. We had brainstormed for quite a while as to what bags to use, and what exactly we’d put in them. In the end, we decided to fill the bags up with (relatively) healthy goodies.
We picked up solid brown kraft paper bags, 2 cases of Annie’s Bunnies individually packaged snacks (a variety), 2 flats of bottled water, and 2 cases of individually packaged jerky. I felt the need to include something that was a bit more representative of me, since I am a total junk food addict. Thus, we also picked up 2 cases of full sized candy, one chocolate mix, and one fruity mix. Read more…

Yesterday marked a momentous occasion – we procured the marriage license! Mr. L picked me up on my lunch break and we headed over to the Travis Co. clerk’s office. I’ve noticed that some of y’all have county offices housed in beautiful historic buildings. The Travis Co. office? Not so much. It’s in an ugly strip mall next to a furniture store with a minuscule parking lot. No matter, 20 minutes and $71 in cash later we walked out with our official license. It’s good for 30 days (with a 3 day waiting period) so we are good to go.

So. Here we are. I am getting married in 10 short days. I’ve finally started stalking the weather, checking in hour by hour to ensure that our outdoor ceremony will go off without a hitch. But that’s a different story. This story is about the various accessories I have been collecting that will complete my wedding day ensemble.

Tomorrow my besties are going to descend upon the city for a night of decadence and debauchery — my bachelorette party! I don’t have all of the details on what is in store for us, but I do have an awesome outfit planned, and really, what more does a girl need?
My mother and I hit Neiman’s last weekend during our shopping marathon and I scored this adorable number (which is in MAJOR need of a good steaming!):

The invitation package that we sent to our guests had 7 total pieces (including envelopes). The envelopes, mail invitation, rehearsal dinner invitation, and RSVP card were hand letterpressed onto the super yummy Arturo paper in two colors - a deep midnight navy and a more mellow French Blue. The map and accommodations card (not pictured) were printed on the same paper on a laser printer. I want to go ahead and apologize now for the poor picture quality (truly, the pictures do not truly reflect how lovely the invites really are!) and all of the blurring of the personal information. I tried to keep it at a minimum…

This weekend has been a complete whirlwind of shopping, crafting, and way more shopping! Now that we are under the one month mark I feel a bit of a fire under me to start knocking out and finishing up all the DIY projects that I had on the back burner. Since I haven’t done anything crafty in a couple of months, to ease myself back in I decided to knock out all of the signage yesterday afternoon.

Well, well, well. One month from today we will be in San Antonio, blissfully exchanging our vows in front of our family and friends who have traveled from near and far to witness our blessed union. This I am so very excited about. For one, I cannot wait to be married to my best friend and to express the love I feel for him, to join our families, and to celebrate with all our loved ones. I also cannot freaking wait for this planning to be over. Seriously. It’s not really fun anymore.
Over the past couple of days, so many loose ends that we’ve been trying to tie up have come unraveled. I haven’t heard the arrangement or pieces of music for our ceremony. Timing? Well, let’s hope it works. Wedding rings? Yeah, starting over on those. The cheap-ass national chain that we were going to purchase them from, the one that told us on multiple occasions that they could have the rings in 3-4 days, told us last night that it would be a minimum of 45 days until my ring comes in. Now, I’m not the best at math, but methinks that timeframe isn’t going to work. Awesome. There are countless other little BS issues I could share with you, but I simply don’t have the energy and, to be honest, I feel sorta bridezilla-ish complaining all the time.
So here we are, one month out, and I fear sleep and socializing are luxuries that I won’t be able to afford until after April 18th. Oh well. Here’s to hoping it’ll be a damn good party.

It’s a nasty day here in A-town. It’s cold, rainy, and all together totally un-spring-like. It’s on days like today that I’m completely uninspired to make any progress on wedding related projects. Instead, I’m daydreaming about lying on white sands, listening to the waves break, and sipping on a fruity cocktail while reveling in the Caribbean sun. Can you tell I can’t wait for our honeymoon?! Thus, I’ve already started mentally packing and working on a list of items I must procure before we set off for the islands.
Who do I trust to outfit me for such an important occasion? Come on now, do you even have to ask?! As always, I turn to my dear friend, Crew, to make sure I’m comfy and chic no matter where we are headed.
Typically when I pack for a long trip I decide on a color scheme of 2 or 3 colors accented by neutrals, to make purchase and packing decisions a bit easier. So far these lovelies have made the cut:

I used to smoke. I drink coffee by the gallon and almost as much red wine. Thus, my pearly whites aren’t so… pearly. I also have very sensitive teeth that cause me to shudder in pain just thinking about bleaching trays and strips. That said, I’m decently vain and dream of having a bright glowing smile on W day (heck, every day would be nice). So, what’s a sensitive girl to do? Mr. L and I headed home to SA once again this past weekend. The mission for this trip: to finalize lighting decisions. Surprisingly, Mr. L has been very involved in the design and decision making for our event lighting.
We arrived at Oak Hills around 1PM to meet with the onsite coordinator. It was so bizarre walking through the stately doors into the (usually conservatively decorated) lobby. It was mass pandemonium everywhere as dozens of workers were setting up various pieces of décor for a Mardi Gras themed event to be held that evening. There were beads and feathers EVERYWHERE and the place was covered in purple, green, and gold fabric, heavy on the lame’. Wow. I only wish I had thought to take pictures for y’all – it was so incredibly over the top!
Anyhow, we moved into the ballroom with the events coordinator and immediately got to work discussing ceiling tiles, extension cords, and inconspicuous plugs – snooze. I found this portion of the day incredibly boring, but Mr. L seemed to be loving all the handyman talk as he diligently took notes to report back to our lighting company. I attempted to envision our setup since we don’t make tons of trips to the Club. Unforch, with the festive and bright décor I was having a really hard time picturing our understated ivory and gold touches. Oh well.
Once Mr. L had finished discussing logistics, we moved on to discussing the actual lighting elements themselves. Ahh, then I felt as thought I had something to contribute! After a bit of hemming and hawing and indecisiveness on my part, we think we have our decisions made. Hooray! Read more…

I love playing with different fragrances. I’ll layer a scented body lotion under a refreshing body splash, or wear different perfumes depending on the weather, my mood, etc.
I’ve always known I wanted something special to wear on W day. Since I like and wear such a variety of scents, I don’t really have one that’s my “signature”. You know what that means — time to go shopping!!
Our wedding is outdoors in April. Thus, I wanted a fragrance that evoked springtime, was light and airy, and fresh and clean. After sniffing (what seemed like) hundreds of different scents I think we’ve found a winner, something worthy of becoming my signature bridal scent—
