I was struggling to find a way to hold all of the elements of our save the date together, and I did not want to invest in pocket folders (seriously, we started out with a one card design… funny how things evolve). I decided on utilizing one of my favorite things—ribbon! Thus, I placed an order for Paper Source’s satin ribbon in Night color.
I gathered all of the pieces:
Lined envelopes with custom Martha labels – check!
Color coordinated detailed save the date and accommodations cards – check!
Matching magnets with rounded corners (oh yes I did!) – check!
A few extra items: copies of some of our engagement pictures, some glue dots, the ribbon, scissors, a corner rounder, and a lighter (I’ll explain).
One of my favorite southern wedding traditions is the cake pull. I plan on having mine at my ladies’ tea the day before our wedding and think it’s going to be so much fun!

What is a cake pull, you ask?!

When we decided that we were going to send out save the dates, I learned that I have the biggest crush ever on letterpress. Unfortunately, letterpress is like that star basketball player – totally delectable and unattainable for an average girl like me. I also learned that I really wanted something totally unique, maybe even custom or DIY. This led me to enter into the brave (and impossibly charming) world of Etsy. I. Love. Etsy.
Etsy led me to Ashley, the greatest graphic artist EVER who created our monogram and multi pieced save the date cards.
In the end we were able to print 3 cards that are ever so slightly smaller than a typical A6 card per 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper. I ordered Luxe Cream cardstock from Paper Source and set out to print our little lovelies at Office Max.
As soon as I saw them I teared up. Really.

I’m pretty close to completion on my current little diy goodness and I figured I’d show it off.
Way back when we first got engaged, I came across this lovely image (it was so long ago and I have no clue who it belongs to; if you do, please let me know!):

Since I’m a preppy monogram fiend, I HAD to have our initials in some sort of organic matter. Since I’m cheap, I knew I had to figure out to create them myself. Turns out it’s not that bad.

Hi, ya’ll! I’m Miss Lemonade and I really couldn’t be happier to be here! I’m also pretty shy and not too fond of being the center of attention (not quite sure how that ‘s gonna work out for me on W day) so writing this particular post has been a bit difficult. Lucky me, ya’ll have all been so kind and welcoming which has made it so much easier!
So, about me… I’m a Texan (big ups to my fellow Texas brides, including the lovely Miss Hydrangea) with mad Texas pride and a deep appreciation of (almost) all things traditional, preppy, and southern.
I’m a nerd who is passionate about political theory and public policy. Lucky for me, Mr. Lemonade is pretty into it too. We usually spend our nights debating constitutional law and the effects of the current 24-hour news cycle over dinner. I know, we’re very romantic like that.
I’m also a huge fan of alliteration, the parenthetical aside, excessive use of exclamation points, and brutal honesty (thus, I WILL be sharing the good, bad, and ugly with ya’ll – and trust me, there’s plenty of each).
