I never realized there were so many darn signs that need to be made for a wedding, good grief. Our table numbers I decided to do as simple table tents, but I wanted something cute and raised for the candy buffet, a la Mrs. Bell Pepper’s.
Due to the overwhelming majority vote (and my gut instinct), I’ll be using the L O V E typewriter keys on my my bouquet. So what do I do with all my leftover keys?
I don’t know when or where she said it, but when Mrs. Bee said that her bathroom baskets were a saving grace to a few of her guests, it lodged firmly in my brain: MUST MAKE BATHROOM BASKETS.
Since we indulged ourselves with letterpress save-the-dates, invitations, programs AND cards to explain the charity tokens, I wanted to change things up a bit for the menus and do something cute and simple. Mini menu madness, in effect!

You know when you were in school, and you had a “stupid” question you were afraid to ask? Remember how teachers always told us, If you don’t understand something, chances are, someone else doesn’t, either.
Well, that’s the premise behind this quick post. I had a EUREKA! moment the other day, and while chances are there’s a much easier solution to my problem than I realize, I still thought that maybe one or two of you might find the subject of use (it’s pretty demographic specific)…
The subject is How to Do a Mac Slideshow With Two Photos at a Time.
iPhoto has that great slideshow option built into it - we all know this. It also has the very cool Ken Burns effect (which is that slow, random zoom or pan that makes a slideshow pack a visual punch) and music. Great. But I didn’t want just one photo at a time. I wanted two at a time - one each of Mr. LB and I. Starting from babyhood on, I wanted pictures of us at the same age sliding across the screen together (or even crossing!), showing who/what we were at the same point in our lives.

I put myself out there a little bit in sharing the group blessing I wrote for our ceremony, so thanks so much for everyone’s enthusiastic reception. And, as promised, here’s the chocolate and wine ritual.
Create the honeymoon of your dreams.
A little while back, I blogged about the struggle of trying to write a beautiful, cohesive, secular ceremony. And a few of you encouraged me to share my efforts. So while it’s still a (quickly solidifying) draft, I thought I’d post one of the less personal sections - the group blessing.
To me, a group blessing is both a beautiful way to acknowledge your friends and family, and a way to make an otherwise lengthy set of speeches more interesting. Plus, my family situation being what it is, my friends ARE my family.
There’s a note in the program inviting guests to participate in the simple blessing by answering “We do” to the officiant’s prompts. So it won’t be out of the blue.

I wish I could say I came up with something wildly original for our escort cards. I didn’t. I copied an idea straight outta Martha (the original photo can be seen on this Snippet and Ink inspiration board):

V. small post today - the sign I made to put atop the bar, to promote our “specialty” drinks. Ironically, though, it took me ages to make. I could NOT get the spacing right to save my life.
A few days ago, jhearta and a few others asked if I wouldn’t mind sharing my playlist. I’m happy to - adding the disclaimer that I’m no Spin editor. And I’m too lazy to type up all 92 tracks (5.5 hours), so I’ve posted them as screenshots - hope that’s cool.
I definitely wanted to include some of “my” music. And I did, to a point. But a lot of my favorite music (British pop, indie, alt-country…) isn’t all that danceable. But I’m fine with skipping it, since we regularly have dinners and parties where I get to play whatever I want.
But for our wedding, I really want a strong “ohmygodIlovethissong!” factor. I love when you’re just sitting talking to someone and one of those tracks everybody knows comes on, and suddenly, everyone’s going nuts. So a lot of our songs might seem cliched - but when I picture my girlfriends’ faces lighting up as “Cecilia” comes on, that’s what it’s all about.

What’s funner than fun? Creating a signature drink. What’s funner than that? Going through an entire bottle of Ketel One in order to perfect it.Last night, we headed to a friend’s house, where we tapped the skills of an ex-bartender to put together our “Something Old, Something New…” drink menu (the idea for which I blatantly ripped off of Mrs. Raspberry). First, however, I had to gather up some totally unnecessary recent purchases…
The best wedding vendor meeting is the one you walk out of feeling LESS stressed than when you walked in. And so it was yesterday, meeting for the first time with DJ Luke Bishop of Satyr Entertainment. From the start, Luke has been pretty darn impressive: super prompt with correspondence, prepared, and helpful (he’s been acting as liason with our venue director to unburden me of the whole projector-slideshow equipment issue).
He’s also the perfect DJ for control-freak Lovebug, who walked in with a “master list” of five hours worth of music:
