The Macarons are finally married and it was absolutely wonderful! All my weather worries were for naught, the ceremony brought our guests to tears, and our photo booth was a great last minute addition.
If you’re on the fence about having a first look I can’t recommend it enough. People aren’t joking when they say it’ll go by in the blink of an eye. Read more…

Marriage is about supporting each other when times are tough and taking time to celebrate the little things, no matter how trivial they may seem. You’re someone’s partner in life; it means you strap on a life vest before rafting and they take a deep breath before getting in line for roller coasters. You do things outside your comfort zone because you want to take part in what brings them joy.
This is it. Today is the day I become a Mrs.
Pretty soon I’ll get to step into my beautiful dress and make my way over to the farm. There will be plenty of cake and lots of dancing but all of that stuff pales in comparison to the true purpose of today. I’m marrying my best friend and the one I love with ever fiber of my being. Today, the adventure continues. Read more…

To say our reception venue is large is an understatement. The room can hold up to 250 guests, almost five times the amount of people we’re expecting. From the very beginning I knew we had to get a bit creative when it came to making it feel a bit more intimate, especially since we didn’t have a budget the size of Texas.

September is traditionally the worst month for tropical activity in the Atlantic. I’ve been judiciously stalking the National Hurricane Center for past two weeks, cursing every time a new formation appears. Hurricane Katia spared the northeast and it appears as though TS Maria will now hopefully do the same.
While I should be doing a happy dance that no major systems will throw a wrench in our plans the 10 day forecast doesn’t look too promising right now: Read more…

From the very beginning this has been our wedding. We’ve included lots of elements that are strictly us and I’m very fortunate in that mommy Macarons has been on board with just about everything. What’s the one point of tension?
Macs and I aren’t exactly fans, I loathe them in fact. I always feel under pressure to write something amazing and it’s only made worse because I know other guests can read what I’ve written. Since a guest book is meant to serve as a reminder of those that celebrated with you, why not have something with a little more presence? Read more…

While many people were out celebrating at the beach or having barbecues the Macs were in full on wedding mode! We finalized our seating arrangements, set our rehearsal dinner menu and made very a important stop at our venue for our final walk through.
I was a little worried going into it that our ribboncurtainsandotherdecor would be too much to set up the morning of. I went over all the details with Lesa, our venue’s coordinator and not only did she say they’d be able to take care of everything, even down to setting out foofers and separating our straws and stirs, but that I’d be able to see everything setup the day before at our rehearsal! We totally lucked out as there are no other weddings scheduled for that weekend which is why we’re able to drop our stuff off earlier in the week. Read more…

Like most brides I had an overly ambitious DIY list. As time went by, projects were shifted around based on importance, and some were removed all together. One of those projects (or so I thought) was making a directional sign like the ones that keep popping up across the wedding blogosphere.
Oh, how I really wanted one but I had no idea how to go about finding some old weathered wood or someone with the tools to cut them. I mentioned the idea to my mom in passing the week before my shower not thinking much of it. Bless my dad’s heart as he decided to go ahead and replace some fencing just so I could have a few signs! Today marked a very important day for the Macarons. We made a pilgrimage downtown to the county clerk’s office to apply for our marriage license! We snapped a quick picture documenting the occasion before heading inside where picture taking is verboden.

Specifically, the yards upon yards of which I bought for ceremony decor. Mrs. Bunting helped solved my assembly issues by directing me towards welt cord, the stuff used for piping around furniture or pillows. I was able to get 30 feet, more than enough to span the distance between branches. At less than $4, I won’t feel bad chopping a bunch of off when it doubles as a backdrop for our DIY photo booth, which will hopefully look a little something like this:
But without the ability to attach it to a wall or door frame I had to come up with an alternative. Read more…

When I realized illustrated table numbers just wouldn’t work I began my search for the figurines I had hoped to sprinkle amongst our tables. With Easter right around the corner I expected a bunny overload, not the dearth I encountered.
My one and only find was this fellow:
Cute, but significantly larger than I had hoped for. So I turned to my good old friend, the internet. After several weeks of searching, this is what I ended up with: Read more…

In addition to the shirts and ties, Macs wanted to make something a little more meaningful for each of the groomsmen. Survival bracelets! Each bracelet is made with ten feet of 550 cord, a very strong nylon rope originally used by paratroopers during World War II. The chord can be used for just about anything, from an improvised tourniquet or for tying splints to replacing a broken strap or shoelaces. Our groomsmen can be pretty adventurous; I hope none of them will find themselves in danger but if they do the bracelets might help.
For this project you’ll need a pair of scissors, a lighter, a tape measure, and 10 feet of paracord per bracelet. You can order the cord online or purchase it from a local army/navy surplus. Read more…

After several of our invitations went M.I.A we expected a few tardy responses but not nearly as many as we got. (Shame on you Macarons guests!) I assumed our mailbox would be overflowing with RSVPs on our deadline but we got nothing, save for one lonely envelope. I let out a large sigh as I reached inside for what I thought was just another piece of junk mail.
It might be a little hard to make out but it was from our friends on Capitol Hill! Read more…

Macs and I are a bit of control freaks. We limit what you can and can’t find out about us on the internet. Our Facebook accounts are on lock down, we don’t “check in” and you won’t find us on foursquare. That might make us seem behind the times, but if we wanted to share every aspect of our wedding day as it was happening we would stream it online.
I know we’re not alone in this though process as severalbees have expressed similar concerns. It’s not that I don’t want our guests to snap away, I’d just like to try and mitigate the amount of exposure. How do I expect to achieve this? With the increasingly popular photo cards.

I’m Miss Macarons and I used to be a nail biter. I always assumed I’d have to get acrylics in order to have pretty nails for my wedding. Well, after 25 years of breaking, I went from nails like this:

Remember how Macs was considering a custom ring? Well, after several email exchanges his ring finally arrived. There was one small problem—the engraving was off centered.
