Mr. Apple and I have been scouring the net for a local videographer - someone with good taste, a sense of contemporary style, who uses the HD format, and within our price range. We have been looking for the past couple of months and have run into some interesting videos on the web… if you look hard enough you too can find some like these:
1. One video looked like it had been filmed in a cave/grotto from Lord of the Rings. The video was so dark I had to turn up the brightness on my moniter to see any details.
2. In another video, all the people (ie. bride, groom and all the guests) looked like they had just gotten back from a tanning session gone horribly wrong. I don’t know if it was the film quality or what but the reels were an orange color.

After meeting with my videographer yesterday, he sent me this amazing clip by Jason Magbanua. He taped a wedding with his Nokia N93 - yes that’s right a cell phone! Amazing! It’s better than some wedding videos I’ve seen!
I remember reading a previous open question about hairstyles for brides who have curly hair. I found these beautiful ones per the Curly Hair Bio

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
In last week’s “Reader Feedback” post, one of the weddingbee readers commented on how we should have a “Mrs.” come back and blog about wedding do’s and dont’s. This was a great suggestion.
Awhile back I actually emailed a few of the weddingbee bugs about that very same question. They all gave me sound advice. Advice that I desperately needed at the time because I was struggling so much with what I should and should not purchase. They also all agreed that though the little details are cute, the very most important part is to just enjoy and keep it fun during the entire planning process and on the day of our wedding.
I really needed them to tell me that via world wide web. I was just so confused. Though Mr. Apple, friends, and family tell me everyday to not spend so much on “unneccessary” wedding purchases, I don’t listen. I am one stubborn horse. I needed someone who had a recent wedding and not one a decade ago (ie family members) so I could relate better to them.
So, with only three months left - I’m a bit sad that Weddingbee for me is almost over, but so excited to be Mrs. Apple. Here are some tips that I’ve learned along the way. Hopefully this will help some of you currently confused brides.
I asked Mr. Apple a couple of months ago whether he preferred to see me in my wedding dress before the ceremony or during the ceremony. Did he want to be surprised? His response was, “Yeah, I want to be surprised!” Then last week I asked him again since I was tempted to show him a photo of my wedding gown (also a busy wedding week), and he said, “Eh, It doesn’t really matter.”
I guess assisting me with wedding planning has really drained his wedding mood. It’s just too much money, detail, organization, color scheme selecting, shopping, research and Weddingbee for him to handle. I can totally understand since I also go through stages too. But I love it nonetheless. So I guess if you do decide to ask your fiance, make sure he’s well fed, well rested, has minimal stress, and is in good spirits.
Lots of brides and their fiances envision seeing each other for the very first time during the ceremony processional. We want that climactic moment. We want to see tears of joy, love, and sheer excitement from both. Totally normal I think.

I found these cute shoes at Payless Shoe Store for my flower girl and junior bridesmaids.
My junior bridesmaids will be wearing a creme dress with a sage colored sash. A creme color shoe would match better, but it only comes in white or pink. Plus, they’ll be wearing white colored stockings underneath, so the white would be a better choice. Oh well, at least the price is great. Payless is having a buy one, get second half off sale through February 26!
This weekend I made a quick stop at the mall in search of a cute black clutch for a friend’s wedding that is soon approaching. While browsing the aisles of Nordstrom, I noticed the many perfume bottles that clutter the cosmetics counters.
I’m a pretty minimal maintence kind of gal on a daily basis - very little makeup, don’t blow dry hair, stopped color treating my hair over a year ago, and I hardly use perfume. The only times I’ll spray myself with my one and only Nanette Lepore Perfume is when I’m out with friends or Mr. Apple. But on my wedding day, I’ll be glammed out with dewy makeup, hair extensions, fake lashes, spanx gear, and everything else you can think of. So I was thinking, what about perfume? I’ll be greeting guests with either a handshake or a big bear hug, so I’d like to leave a nice smelling impression before I greet the next.
I picked up Miss Dior Cherie and sprayed a little on my wrists. I love this scent!

Out of sight, out of mind and out of worries…
I really liked the end product of my invites, though a lot of time and patience was involved in selecting, purchasing, and semi diy-ing it.
I chose Gold Wedding Pockfetfold invites from Custom Programs. I love my invites but can’t say the same for Custom Program’s service. The first bad sign was when I ordered samples that never arrived. So after waiting 2 weeks or so, I contacted her again and she said she would Fedex a new sample. Supposedly, mine and a couple other samples got lost in the mail (postal service fault). Upon receiving my package, I opened up the envelope to see the invites in sage green. I requested the sample in Ecru Micah. Then, I had the issue with the wrong city printed on the rsvp and outer envelopes. Overall, I’d give Custom Programs a “B” grade. She was really good about replying back to my emails quickly and was always available either by phone or email.
Instead of using the exterior seal they offer, I purchased sage color ribbon at a local crafts store. I really wanted to use real wax, but I’d heard so many mailing horror stories so I opted for faux wax. I purchased the custom hand stamper from Waxseals, a company based out of Canada. The quality and craftsmanship of the stamper is an A+. I love it and will use it forever.
I’m getting really excited about traveling again. I haven’t traveled outside of Dallas in over 8 months and I’m beginning to get suffocated. Growing up I was fortunate enough to travel every 4-6 months, whether it was a weekend trip to Austin or a mini vacation to the west coast to see family members. But with the upcoming wedding I’ve had to really curb my travel enthusiasm and stay put for 1 year in order to keep $ in the bank. I’m itching to get away though.
The girls and I decided to take my bachelorette party to NYC next month. We chose this city because 1) I’m over Las Vegas - no offense but I can only take Las Vegas for no more than 2 days. Plus I don’t really drink much, don’t like buffets, don’t gamble, and can’t afford to shop at Valentino. 2) I have one cousin, 2 good friends who live in NYC and my other friend (the second bride) lives in Chicago so we felt this would be the best place to party it up and reconnect. 3) I love to eat good food and explore.
I’ve been to NYC a handful of times and loved every minute of it. I think most of the girls have done the touristy stuff in NYC so we’d like to just make it more of a leisurely weekend. My question is - does anyone have any suggestions on a “MUST EAT, MUST SEE list while in NYC”? Our hotel is in Midtown but we’re open to cab it if it’s worth the meal or activity!
I watched some of the wedding videos from Blue Core Media last night. I can’t explain to you all how lovely they are - you’ll just have to watch them!
For Vancouver brides, you’re so lucky to have them in your local area. If only I could afford to fly them into Dallas to tape our wedding. ![]()
My eyes were swollen and red from crying so much after watching his reels. What stuck out so much were the speeches - they were all so beautifully written and read. All three videos are beautiful but Adrienne and Albert’s video was especially touching. I really felt the love. They were also featured in Real Weddings magazine.
If you want to see the video click on http://www.bluecoremedia.com.
Will you preparing a speech for your other half during the reception?
I’ve been having trouble deciding on whether I want to wear diamonds or pearls on my wedding day. I love me some pearls but I’m worried it won’t match the detail on my wedding dress or my raspberry spotted guinea flora hairpin.
Does anyone have suggestions on what kind of jewelry I should wear? How about no jewelry and just keep it real simple. But if you look at my hair trial, I have no jewelry on…hmmm…not feeling that either.
Here’s a cropped photo of my dress detail.
I had my hair trial yesterday with Michelle, the owner of The Secret Salon. I’ve been going to her to get my hair cut for the past year. She’s brilliant with layers and was technically trained at Tony & Guy over 10 -15 years ago. Walking into her salon yesterday, I definitely had a solid idea as to what kind of style I wanted and what would look best on me. For sure I wanted a loose low bun with soft curls. I have a really round face so a bun that sits above the height of my ears would accentuate my round face even more.
With print outs in hand, I showed her some updo’s that I liked and this is what she created. Overall, I’m happy with the low bun and the curls (a little messy but I think for the day of she’ll clean it up)

I noticed that lots of weddingbee readers are also Disneyland fanatics. So while searching for some jewerly for my wedding outfit, I came upon these cute 18 white gold and diamonds Disney icons jewelry - Mickey, Bambi, and Tinkerbell on Ylang|23.com.
Pave Diamond Bambi Pendant - $1690.00
We just purchased our flower girl dresses yesterday. My little cousin looks so cute in her dress! I especially loved this pink one on her, but our wedding colors are olive green, buttercream, with hints of chocolate so it was an especially difficult decision to go against it. But we loved the pink dress so much, we’re ordering them for our morning tea ceremony so the flower girls can look especially cute!
Here are some photos. Katie may be stealing my show on the wedding day. She’s a natural in front of an audience and camera.
