he* Mr. Lime likes to call me a treehugger (by his standards, that is), so this tagline of Simply Wood Rings tickled me. These unique rings are good for people that have metal allergies (one of my bridesmaids can’t even wear platinum) and for the eco-conscious.

Simple designs
reen as in eco-friendly, that is. I know there’s been some mention of it around here, and LA-based vendor resource site Bridal Bar will be blogging about how to host a sustainable wedding. One entry regarding mineral-based makeup is already up, so add it to your RSS feeds!

ere’s* a sneak peak at my invitation process. Because I know some of my guests stalk this blog, this is all you get until I send them out sometime near the end of May. I do have a digital mockup/comp done, a flimsy black & white mockup done, and the digital files all set up. I just need to finish drawing my map already (I’ve been working on it on and off for months now!), and then I’ll be ready to go to press (aka my Gocco!). Let’s just say it involves a layout very similar to Miss Plumeria’s (I promise I’m not a total biter and thought this up awhile ago…What can I say? Great bees think alike!), securely bound components (one of my peeves are invites that create a paper ‘explosion’ when you pull them out of the envelope), white Gocco ink on colored paper, and envelopes I’ve been itching to use for something for about 7 years now.
Sketch showing each component. [ca. January 2007]

hat* my color scheme will work. We watched Marie Antoinette together during a girls’ night in about a month ago. When Kirsten Dunst came out in this dress (although not the exact shades I’m using), they were slightly less irked at me for making them wear soft aqua silk dresses and carry red bouquets. I’m kidding about the irked part, they’re all really supportive and enthusiastic, but I think the two local bridesmaids weren’t totally convinced. The blue is a little more saturated in the movie than in this still, and my blue is a lot more aqua, but it gave them a good idea since I am a lazy bride who is not doing newsletters to give them information on all the details I agonize over but they don’t care too much about.

ifferent* in a good way, of course. Someone else has already done the research on this topic and summed it up so well that I think it is worthy of a full copy and paste rather than just linkage. After reading the blog entry, I came home to the newest issue of InStyle Weddings, which coincidentally contains an article called “10 Surprising Registry Ideas.” I’ve listed their suggestions below the blog entry as well, but for further explanation and suggestions, pick up the most recent copy (if it’s on newsstands… not sure if it is, yet). It’s actually a pretty helpful article with tips on each suggested registry. I hope this helps those of you out there who *really* don’t need any more items from a more traditional registry.

Having lived together for about five years before getting married, the hubs and I had little to no need for the usual wedding presents, i.e., cookware, bakeware, kitchen appliances, fine china, linens, etc.

I had almost completely curbed my online shopping habit for anything other than real necessities, and then wedding planning happened. While searching for the best deals, it’s *so* hard to resist the random other stuff you come across. Anyway, I was successful in resisting and only bought things that were within my wedding budget as “miscellaneous details.”

I came across this site via one of the many photography blogs I’m subscribed to, but I can’t remember and couldn’t find which when I went back.
Anyway, it’s got some good FAQs that answer many basic questions you might have as you first start looking for a photographer, sample price lists [including one in Croatian (?)], and sample contracts. Everything is contributed by professional wedding photographers who are a part of a collective that contributes to this site. If you’ve already hired a photographer or are knee-deep in the process, it might not help. If you’re just starting out, though, definitely take a peek.
[1] I cannot whistle. At all.
[2] I don’t like eating certain foods because you have to use your hands, and they’re greasy or messy. In other words, I’m lazy. For example, fried chicken, El Pollo Loco or any other build-your-own fajita type things (even if utensils are provided), etc. But then I don’t mind eating Ethiopian, Indian, or Thai sticky rice + accompaniments with my hands. OK, never mind. I guess I don’t mind for food that is yummy enough to merit getting my hands dirty.
[3] I used to eat sticks of butter when I was very young. I mentioned this to a handful of people in college, and now the entire East Coast knows.
[4] I pet our super smooth, ultra white paper at the office. It’s so smooth and soft! Like a baby’s butt. OK, maybe not, but you get the idea.
[5] I always eat my blue m&m’s, brown reese’s pieces, and red skittles last.
[6] Really spicy salsa mixed with sour cream knocks my socks off, even if it looks like throw up.
Hmm… 4 of 6 are about food, but of course.

Spell it with me now, ladies. So what is this photography phenomenon? I think the definition on Skye Blu’s Boudoir site captures it best.
“Boudoir” literally translates to: a lady’s bedroom or private sitting room. However, when paired with the element of photography, it takes on an entirely different meaning. Boudoir photography celebrates the splendor and grace of the human form, by capturing curves and sensuality on film. These intimate photographs can range from fully clothed to tasteful nudes but always have a sense of allure and intense beauty…

I previously blogged about the one piece of jewelry (besides my engagement ring and wedding band, of course), er two pieces, I guess, that I want to wear on my wedding day.

After much thought and recommitment #19,087,237 to sticking to our budget, I decided not to spend that much money on earrings that weren’t even real pearls (not glass, but still man-made), only silver, and CZ. Yes, I’d definitely wear them again, but no, I couldn’t justify spending that much money on faux jewelry. A friend was even going to sell hers to me, but I told her to go ahead and return them as I was going to look for cheaper alternatives. Since I had resolved to forget them, I had all but put them out of my mind. I stopped looking at them. I stopped checking my own blog entry about them. What??? All you bloggers out there know you do it, too
.
Not only do I <3 ribbon mucho, I also <3 anything reversible or with fun lining. Who cares if no one else will ever see the amazing pattern that my otherwise plain jane coat, shoes, or bag are lined in? I know it’s there, and it makes me happy. I know I’m not the only one. One of my BMs, whose style also tends toward the minimal and clean, also appreciates a surprise lovely lining or reverse that isn’t apparent at first glance. Yay for us closet pattern/color lovers.
So I present ribbon that is reversible, in some “of the moment” wedding color combos:

No, I don’t pronounce vase like “vahz,” despite my occupation. I also can’t remember if whatever “vase” is in french is female or male, nor what dilemma is, as is probably obvious from my title.
Anyway, time to get to the point, lime. I knew exactly what kind of centerpiece vessel I wanted, so I showed my florist the last page of my crazy floral RFP. White, semi opaque to opaque, cylindrical, low.

Why? Because my centerpieces involve carnations. That’s right, I said carnations. See?
Major ew to the silver urn-like vessel (IMO - remember, I’m a Modernist and minimalist practically since birth. Ask my mom, even). He just used something of the final product’s approximate diameter and height as I didn’t get the ones I’m providing to him before the trial.
