About Me: Mr. Orange and I met thanks to my college friend and Mr. Orange's dad in Feb. 05. I love to eat, cook, watch Dog the Bounty Hunter, Without a Trace, L&O, and MTV Hits as well as chill with my cat Illie, work on little DIY projects for the wedding, do extensive wedding related searches on Google using my "skills." I found out after my undergarment post that reader ocicats and I are dress twins (Pronovias Neptuno). While browsing through LIWeddings, I noticed that there are other twins like date twins, venue twins, BM dress twins.
What is most interesting to me about dress twins is that every dress does not look completely the same because of how we accessorize it. I think I have the whole outfit ready now.
What accessories are you planning to wear on your day of?

I have a very practical question for my gown. With my first fitting due in a month, I was told that I MUST have my wedding day shoes and undergarments with me or the salon would not not honor the appointment for the first fitting. I already bought my shoes, but I’m not exactly sure what to do with the undergarments. I need to know whether I need to buy a brand new strapless or just use the one I have and love? There are stores like BraTenders that specialize in choosing the best bra for your gown.
Did you buy or are you planning to buy undergarments just for use on your wedding day?? What’s the verdict?

Previously I posted my thoughts for GM gifts — and they ended up being all food. So, here’s a list of non-food related GM gifts I have come up with:

A friend of Mr. Orange recently gave us a gift with a card — a UNICEF card! UNICEF’s online shop has a wide variety of holiday cards, but they also carry a very nice selection of blank cards that can be used in your everyday greetings (like wedding thank you cards!). I was really touched to know that this couple supported such a good cause.

I have been very indecisive about a lot of things for the wedding, including our centerpieces. Please take the poll and help the Orange —

After much debate over my calligraphy bug, we decided to go with Michele Clark. Our outer envelopes came back on Saturday and I could not be happier!!! Except for two omissions, she was able to do all 113+ envelopes in two days during Thankgiving week! It’s written with ultra fine script, in a dark brown ink (not sure you can tell).
The cost? $1 per envelope! And what can you get for a dollar these days?! I am simply in calligraphy heaven.

DaisyPath kindly reminds me it’s 3 months, 1 week and 5 days till our Wedding Day. Theknot and LIWeddings also remind me that I have 103 days to go. Timeanddate will even tell you how many seconds/minutes/hours/days till your custom date.
Mr. Orange thinks I will freak out when our date is within double digit range. If you are already married, when did you have that “OMG, I am getting married!” moment? And if you are engaged, share when you think you’ll freak out.

Mr. Orange insists on just giving his boys a monogrammed glass beer mug. But, I am trying to convince him to give something more than a glass with an initial.
Here’s some ideas I am toying with — They’re all food. I’ll also come up with another list of non-food related gifts.

My MOH and I were going to stay over in a regular 2 double bed room the night before the wedding, and then do an early check-in into the Grand Bridal Suite. Despite the fact that I’ve had this block of rooms since July, it came to my attention today that the Grand Bridal Suite has a late check-out time (2PM) and if someone books the room night before, I will have to get ready in a small room and wait for the Bridal Suite until 2 PM. Gasp!
But the manager was able to switch us to a Grand Bridal Suite for the price of a regular room! (a savings of $200!) I am so thankful but also excited that MOH and I get to sleep in this HUGE room.
I’m staying at a hotel the night before because my family are all flying in for the wedding and staying over at the same hotel. Where are you staying the night before the wedding? Your home? A hotel? Or your parents’ home?

As you can tell, whenever I have few sips of alcohol, I turn RED. According to GoAskAlice, the health service at Columbia University:
As many as 50 percent of people of Asian descent experience a flushed complexion after drinking alcohol. Alcohol flush reaction, the more technical name, describes the body’s inability to break down ingested alcohol completely. You and others like you have an inactive enzyme, aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), which is normally responsible for breaking down acetaldehyde, a byproduct of the metabolism of alcohol. Acetaldehyde is a toxin and if your body can’t break it down, it accumulates and causes flushing. Other symptoms you might experience include dizziness, nausea, headaches, and an increased pulse.
I am opting not to have alcohol until probably the last hour of the wedding and until then, I’m settling with nice sips of Sparkling Apple Cider — YUMMY!

If you’re like me, you research before going to a restaurant. What were the reviews like? Do they have a menu somewhere on the web? What are the average cost of entrees? The list goes on and on. What I found very useful in my quest to locate good restaurants in a number of past travel destinations is chowhound. Just lurking around, reading people’s posts will give you ideas of the local flava!
What do you use to research for your honeymoon? Do share.
By the way, Mr. Orange and I will be vacationing in Key West for our HM. Yay!

What I thought was a night of sake tasting turned out to be my bridal shower! My bridal attendants (2 female 1 male) and FMIL threw the party at a Japanese restaurant in midtown with family and friends. I cried three times — (1) When they totally surprised me (2) When my BM read / translated the letter my mom wrote me (with a picture of me at 9 months) (3) When they brought out the cupcake cake :).
I just wrote about how lonely I feel at times in the planning phase with my family away. I still miss my family, but the shower really made me feel that I do have a family here (in-laws), lots of good ol’ friends and a wonderful and supportive FI. I am truly blessed to have this much LOVE — (tears).

(Ignore the background…. My room needs a major makeover)

My niece is going to be the cutest flowergirl :). I was wondering whether I should send the dress to her in Japan. My sister (her mom) didn’t understand why I would do that - “But Miss Orange, the wedding is in NY, not in Japan.”
Planning a wedding while my entire family is abroad has been easy and hard. I don’t get much of their input which may be a blessing in disguise. But, when I have a bridal shower or a disagreement with Mr. Orange or his family, I feel extra homesick :(.
Anyone planning a wedding afar from your own family?
