She’s Getting Married!

A long time ago, I wrote about my MOH, Jasmine. While the wedding fever cooled down for me shortly after our big day, I couldn’t help but catch it again when she got engaged too! We’ll be switching places (her: the beautiful bride, me: so honored to stand next to her) during August this year at a big hotel ceremony in Vegas, and Mr. Plumeria (who’s in the bridal party too!) and I couldn’t be more excited for her and her fiance. You know what that means… shower planning! Here are the invitations I made for her upcoming shower for a little simple crafty inspiration. 
DIY Wrist Bling

My wedding bracelet was an early DIY project that I didn’t actually make specifically to wear on the big day. I just happened to have a bunch of leftover beads and decided to do something with them, and the resulting piece of jewelry was too sparkly to use for any sort of everyday occasion. It so happened that it ended up matching my dress perfectly, so I went ahead and used it…

… has flown by so quickly. Has it really been over a year since we got married?
Since then, my world has still contained more wedding than I could ever have imagined (can you imagine going to nine weddings in one year?!) and all of it has reminded me that there are some things from my own that I never really finished. Like our wedding album. And this blog.
I’ve decided that I’m gonna pull up my chair and prop up my keyboard and get it done. Well, at least the blog part… haha. 
So, here goes — a few last DIY posts, maybe a couple of final recaps — and then I’ll be able to walk into the sunset with this chapter of my life duly completed, looking forward to the next.

… but I loved my flowers nevertheless! They were exactly what I wanted. I had never seen a sample or anything, so they really took my breath away that day!

The stems were wrapped with thick cream satin ribbons, and then accented with twisted gold ribbons on top.

Hello hive! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
I’ve been married for almost exactly three months now and it has been wonderful — newlywed life, while not as completely rosy-perfect as one might expect before being married, is nevertheless blissful. Since the wedding, we’ve just been settling down and getting used to the new swing of things… but I knew someday I’d come back to share more about that special day! So, here we go, beginning with the very start of the morning on May 12th, 2007…

A Minimoon Close To Home

Okay, I know I never even finished telling you all about the second half of our actual honeymoon — there are just so many pictures of Disneyworld to get through, I haven’t even touched them! But I thought I’d post about our most recent trip together, just to prove that sometimes, a visit somewhere close to home can be just as exciting and meaningful as traveling far away.Our destination: beautiful San Luis Obispo and its surrounding cities, in California. This area is close to home both literally (about three-and-a-half hours’ drive away) and figuratively… Mr. Plumeria and I were both undergrads at Cal Poly University, SLO, and that’s where we first met and began dating. Needless to say, SLO is, and always will be, a special place for us to visit.
Most of the time, we were accustomed to crashing at friends’ places whenever we visited, but on our first trip to SLO since we were married, we decided to turn it into a minimoon. To the average person, SLO might seem pretty boring and uneventful, but it is surrounded by natural beauty and great places to go. For our brief stay, we chose to visit Pismo Beach, about ten minutes away. We used to walk the pier as a couple and sit on the beach on the weekends. A stroll away, downtown Pismo has a multitude of cute beach shops and places to eat, most notably the famous Splash Cafe, with super rich and fresh clam chowder bread bowls. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and a favorite hangout spot for college kids and families alike…
