I really am not MIA - I have just been super busy getting a few of the last minute projects completed before the wedding. Here are a couple of teaser pics of things I have been working on…
Escort Cards (we will still have placecards at the table) - each guest will get a little envelope with their name on it. Inside will be a picture of the DC Icon Table that they are sitting at, with the icon’s name on the back of it.
They are FINALLY all out and we have started to receive some of the RSVP/menu cards, so I think it is safe to share a few pictures with you.
Since making invitations is what I do for a living, I thought it most appropriate to make ours. 
And after many renditions, I am so happy with the final result. So without any further ado…
They came in the mail in this box…
I just returned from a fabulous weekend away with my leading ladies… and I know you can’t resist waiting any longer for a few pictures, so I put a couple of “appropriate” ones together…
And first I must say - I have THE BEST maid of honor in the world!
So the weekend started with us arriving in Western New York on Friday night… We stayed at her family’s cabin right on the golf course…
Saturday morning we had the dress fitting, which was very successful and then picked up the bridesmaid shoes at TARGET! They all liked the same pair and they were only $30!
Our invitations are out, and I promise to post pictures later today or tomorrow (once people start receiving them). I am so happy with how they came out! Since designing invitations and personal stationery is what I now do full-time, the pressure was on. I went through about 5 other designs before I settled on these ones and I am so happy I did!
Other than having a love for invites and paper, I also love stamps! I started collecting them when I was about 8 and haven’t done anything with them in the past 5 years, but still love finding cool stamps. So when this LOVE stamp came out back in the mid-90s, I knew I had to have them for my wedding invitations. After much searching, I found them on eBay (of course)!

Yesterday I attended the Vera Wang Fashion Show at the Ritz-Carlton here in DC…and it was incredible…
It was a brunch and started with a cocktail reception, then we moved to this room for the fashion show:
So… one of the most fun things we did while I was at home for a week of wedding planning, was my first dress fitting. Since my dress is a couture dress from Paris, there are a few little alterations that it needed, and since it wasn’t through a bridal salon here, we had to find a tailor to work with my dress. My mom gets all the credit here as the woman she found is incredible!
I was nervous to leave my dress, but I know it is in great hands! And each time she took in a little stitch, my dress got more beautiful. I can’t wait to pick it up!
Here are a couple of pictures as Susan was literally sewing on a hook and eye as I was in the dress! (and isn’t it convenient that my hair trial was that morning? )

I just got back from a very productive week at home and thought I would share these couple of pics of my hair trial… I went to Bella Capelli’s in East Aurora, NY and was so happy with Amy.

I will be in Buffalo all week doing wedding things, so no time for chatting now as I am packing like a mad woman!

My mom has gone and done it…
She finally found a dress (it is incredible!) and has ordered it from NetBride. I know several of you have inquired as to the reliability of ordering from an online company and so far, we have been extremely happy with their service. I will keep you posted as the order progresses.
So, without any further ado…
The top color is champagne and the bottom is acorn. This picture makes it look much lighter than the dress really is. The dress is from Watters & Watters.
I can’t wait to see her in the dress! It is so pretty and motherly, without being frumpy. We had a really hard time finding the perfect dress for her, as they all seem like evening wear attire (which she did not want to look like she was going to the prom) or matronly and inelegant, so we were very happy when she tried this on and it looked beautiful!
Lately, I have been totally stressed about wedding planning. Both Mr. Raspberry and I are very busy with our jobs–after the Daily Candy post last week, I have been slammed, which is a good thing. But I’ve been working so much, I feel like I’m not taking enough time to enjoy all the little parts of planning our wedding. At the same time, I try to put things in perspective by thinking that no matter what size candles I decide on for the reception tables, the wedding will happen and in the end we will be husband and wife. I know this sounds so cheesy, but it’s true! My wedding band arrived a couple of weeks ago (Mr. Raspberry’s came months ago) and I cannot wait to wear it! I can’t wait to be Mrs. Raspberry!
My list of little things to take care of is so long, there is no way I can possibly do everything myself. And Mr. Raspberry has taken on all of the tasks I can really delegate to him.
Is this less than 3 months to go stress totally normal? Have you had any breakdowns where you just think, I really do not care what shade of white the napkins are??? I know in the end everything will be beautiful, and I really don’t want to make anymore decisions! I just want to enjoy every moment of the last couple of months… Read more…
I have finally decided on a bouquet for the bridesmaids, and this time I promise, I won’t change my mind…
I have been through 3 different bouquets - mostly because the flowers I wanted (amaryllis, then peonies) really aren’t available in the middle of July - unless I want to spend and arm and a leg…
So I have decided to go with this…
So while at home this weekend, we were able to FINALLY try on the dress that our bridesmaid dresses are being modeled after. As you may remember, we are having them made in Thailand. So, without any further ado, here is Lindsay, my MOH, in the dress in red (ours will be a dark salmon/pink; the style is Watters 9460):
Since Mr. Raspberry and I are getting married on Bastille Day, I thought it would be fun to include a touch of French influence to the ceremony and reception…
When searching online for ideas, I came across this list of French Wedding Traditions:
- The bridal hope chest originated in France, coming from the word “trousseau”, or bundle. The bundle refers to the small bundle of clothes that the bride would take with her to her new home with the groom. Now, the hope chest is used to collect things in it throughout the bride’s life to take with her to her new home, including Sunday clothes, undergarments, and everyday clothes.
- In many French towns, the groom will meet the bride at her home on the day of the wedding and walk with her to the ceremony. Children will run along with them, throwing white ribbons that the bride cuts as she walks along.
Last night we started our dance lessons and learned the waltz!!! (and since my sister is in Australia this week, I had to give the “Waltzing Matilda” title as a shout out )
I have been nagging Mr. Raspberry to take lessons with me for years and finally he agreed, but I still had to do all the planning (see previous post). But after all that, he had a great time and was taking them so seriously! Our instructor was teaching us to turn and look at the corner of the room, then the wall to the left, then the corner to the left of that, and so forth…and Mr. Raspberry kept whispering to himself, “corner two three, wall two three, corner two three, wall two three…”
SO CUTE! And to think we have seven more weeks of lessons and plenty of dances to learn!
Since our lessons are just to learn the basics, we’ve been debating taking a couple of private lessons with a choreographer afterward to put together a little routine for our first dance!
Has anyone done this? Do you think you enjoy the dance less because you are thinking about your next “move”?
