We stopped by Target yesterday to pick up some travel size goodies for our upcoming trip and I couldn’t resist buying some faux flowers and fruit vase fillers.
Much to the chagrin of my readers, I blogged about my honeymoon to The Palms in Turks & Caicos (here and here) while on my honeymoon last year. Mr. Spider and I had a great time relaxing and doing almost nothing but enjoy each other’s company. Since our anniversary trip is coming up, I ventured into my archive photos for a trip down memory lane.

Our one year anniversary is creeping up so I’ve spent the last few weeks researching places to celebrate our year old nuptials. Planning our honeymoon to Turks & Caicos nearly killed me and planning our honeymoon encore was only slightly less daunting due to three essential factors: 1) our love of beaches; 2) the static threat of hurricanes in October; and 3) $$$. In the end, I basically ran out of time and picked what I hope will be a fun place to spend a week.

When I saw Katherine Heigl wearing a white mermaid gown on the red carpet at the recent Emmys, I thought - hello, wedding gown! Incidentally, the babe is planning her own nuptials so maybe she does have wedding on the brain. Her dress costs something like $1 million dollars and your left pinky but the crafty folks at eDressMe say this gown can be your friend for just $475.

Mr. Spider and I spent Labor Day wandering around Union Square. We stopped by Fishs Eddy, one of my favorite shops, in search of a butter knife. We were delighted to see their new (to us) New York City collections. We ran out of time during our wedding planning and had to forego gift bags for our out-of-town guests but if I could turn back time, I would have definitely selected a few of the items below as gifts.

I have spoken before about my love affair with Blue Rainbow Design from which we bought our place cards and favors. I recently paid the site a visit and was delighted to see an expansion in their candle selection. The next placecard/favor needing soiree I plan is definitely going to include these adorable little guys here:
I like to troll the internet for sales. Often I’ll find something I think would be perfect to wear to a wedding but not having one to go to, will pass on it. Of course, when I do have a wedding to go to, I have absolutely nothing to wear and everything is out of my size. Is that reason enough to start stockpiling satin heels and strapless numbers? Especially when they are low low prices? Observe the following three outfits I would totally don to a wedding or a nice night out, and help me decide. Do you buy now to wear later?
In planning my wedding, the top two things that made me suicidal were: the invitations (Exhibits 1 2 3 4 5) and our honeymoon (Exhibits 1 2 3 4). Our honeymoon was amazing which made all the research worthwhile but our invitations well, the thought that some ended up in the rubbish bin pains me! In the end, was it worth it? For me, in all honesty, well - no. The process of (semi) DIY invitations from conception to fruition required more creativity, patience, diligence and energy than I posess on a normal basis, much less while juggling the 1000000 other wedding planning balls in the air at the time. For the next invitation requiring soiree I plan, will I go the DIY route again? Haha, you betcha. Aren’t we all just gluttons for punishment like that; nothing beats a spanking by paper and glue man.
We made our own invitations so I’m not too keen on the world of fancy invites. And by not too keen, I don’t mean I didn’t spend hours drooling over fancy invites online because I’m keen on that - stalking stuff online. Having decided early on to go the semi-DIY route, most of my actual (non-window-shopping) research focused on finding the best possible deal for each small part. (Exhibits 1 and 2)
Excuse the crappy photo; full invitation post to follow.
During a recent trip to Ikea, I found myself lingering longingly by their new artcards. At $6 for packets of 5 (including envelopes), I wanted to sweep a whole armful into our (already full) cart. I racked my brain for what I could do with them - Thank You cards? Table numbers? Menus? And then I remembered - I’m married already! Oh how resilient, the wedding planning bug! Well, perhaps they can inspire others.
