I have spoken before about my love affair with Blue Rainbow Design from which we bought our place cards and favors. I recently paid the site a visit and was delighted to see an expansion in their candle selection. The next placecard/favor needing soiree I plan is definitely going to include these adorable little guys here:
I like to troll the internet for sales. Often I’ll find something I think would be perfect to wear to a wedding but not having one to go to, will pass on it. Of course, when I do have a wedding to go to, I have absolutely nothing to wear and everything is out of my size. Is that reason enough to start stockpiling satin heels and strapless numbers? Especially when they are low low prices? Observe the following three outfits I would totally don to a wedding or a nice night out, and help me decide. Do you buy now to wear later?

In planning my wedding, the top two things that made me suicidal were: the invitations (Exhibits 1 2 3 4 5) and our honeymoon (Exhibits 1 2 3 4). Our honeymoon was amazing which made all the research worthwhile but our invitations well, the thought that some ended up in the rubbish bin pains me! In the end, was it worth it? For me, in all honesty, well - no. The process of (semi) DIY invitations from conception to fruition required more creativity, patience, diligence and energy than I posess on a normal basis, much less while juggling the 1000000 other wedding planning balls in the air at the time. For the next invitation requiring soiree I plan, will I go the DIY route again? Haha, you betcha. Aren’t we all just gluttons for punishment like that; nothing beats a spanking by paper and glue man.
We made our own invitations so I’m not too keen on the world of fancy invites. And by not too keen, I don’t mean I didn’t spend hours drooling over fancy invites online because I’m keen on that - stalking stuff online. Having decided early on to go the semi-DIY route, most of my actual (non-window-shopping) research focused on finding the best possible deal for each small part. (Exhibits 1 and 2)
Excuse the crappy photo; full invitation post to follow.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
During a recent trip to Ikea, I found myself lingering longingly by their new artcards. At $6 for packets of 5 (including envelopes), I wanted to sweep a whole armful into our (already full) cart. I racked my brain for what I could do with them - Thank You cards? Table numbers? Menus? And then I remembered - I’m married already! Oh how resilient, the wedding planning bug! Well, perhaps they can inspire others.

Reader meleven asked us to help her find some shallow trays for possible wheatgrass placecard holders or centerpieces. My little spidey legs did some crawling all over the web and found these affordable options:

My original wedding colors were pink and brown. Despite my best efforts to stay loyal to Pink and Brown, Green kept creeping in so at one point, I welcomed Green with opens arm. I said hello Green, come in, sit down and stay for a while!
If my eyes tear up when I’m looking at something fantabulous, does it mean they are really drooling?
On a scaled down version, a few strands dangling from an arch/canopy/chuppah would be so pretty. I’ll bet a DIY faux flower project could replicate this look.
I didn’t buy my reception dress until 2 weeks before the wedding. It was a close one but I had very specific criteria: it had to be long, it had to be lace and it had to be pink and brown. I was about to give up when I randomly spotted the puuurrrfect dress in Group USA at Jersey Garden Outlet Mall. It was barely $100 and met every one of my criteria. It fit but was a bit long so seamstress Papa stepped in again and hemmed the dress as best he could which, wasn’t easy considering its caught-in-a-shredder-look.

Despite comparison shopping for just about every single item displayed, distributed and donned at our wedding, I inexplicably could not care less about my veil. As long as it covered my face and was tulle-like, it was a-okay with moi. Also, I did not want to pay $$$ for something I thought I could make so I put my money where my mouth is and commissioned the seamstress of the family, my papa. That is right, the same papa who taught me to knit.
Mr. Spider’s nickname for me is “little apple” (xiao ping gua) in chinese. I am however, allergic to apples. It’s like rain on your wedding day… I know. As a tribute to well, myself haha, we tried to incorporate apples into our wedding day. My favorite apple delight were our centerpieces.
