I just smoked a cigarette. In the kitchen with the windows open. And the exhaust. While surfing ebay on my laptop balanced on top of the stove. Sounds kinda pathetic right? WRONG! It was heaven. HEAVEN, I’m in HEAVEN and my heart beats so that I can barely speak…
My parents don’t know I smoke. Wait, my mom does cuz I told her but my dad doesn’t know. He also doesn’t read blogs so I’m good haha.
When we got engaged, I promised Mr. Spider I would quit after the wedding. I didn’t smoke a single solitary cigarette on our entire honeymoon despite there being ashtrays around the pool and the beach. What’s better than a smoking a cigarette while sipping on a mango mojito on the friggin beach? A healthy long life? Oh healthy schmealthy.
As an update to my initial wedding ring dilemma: I opted for a channel set traditional band instead of a U-shaped band. Here she is relaxing at our hotel’s spa in Turks and Caicos.

I really like how delicate the wedding band is. On it’s own, it looks so shy and tiny haha, I LOVE it. Mr. Spider was pushing me to get these huge ass blinged out wedding bands but I chose one that matches my personality more. Since the band is lower than the E-ring, it fits rather nicely next to it. There is a small gap but I think it works, much like the gap between Madonna’s teeth haha JK!

Who is John? He was our florist and I heart John something fierce. Here are just some of the reasons why:

I watched this totally bizarre story on the CW11 morning news today. This woman bought a $6K Kenneth Pool gown from Kleinfeld, got her wedding photos and only then realized that the beading on her dress formed a big smiley face :). I know what you’re thinking: wtf? no way. Dude, watch the clip yourself (click on what else? smiley face wedding gown).

OMG?!?! I KNOW!! And yes, that was Austin Scarlett trying to dodge the cameras!!

For me, the love affair began early on. Within the first few days of stock piling wedding magazines and flagging pages (I kid you not, I actually used flags) I came across what would become my gown. Of course my fickle heart did not just love one but many (there is a dress ho in all of us yet). So off I went to try on a million and three dresses. In the end, I’d love to say I put on my gown and fairy dust rained down upon us and we rode off in the sunset, but it didn’t quite happen that way. The truth is, I went and tried it on three times before finally listening to my heart and buying it. Here is the ad I flagged:

Update: How did she do it?
I picked ten or so pictures from our professional proofs. Of the ten, 2-3 were detail pictures of our centerpieces, unity candle etc. Using Photoshop, I reduced the size of the images and cropped/enhanced them as needed. Then I made a black and white version of every photo. To create the layout, I opened up Adobe Illustrator where I played around with the color and B/W version of each photo. The possibilities were endless hence the 5 hour time line. After I committed the photos, I printed proofs using 4×6 glossy photo paper and my Canon Pixma iP5200 printer. Side by side, here are some of the color vs. B/W photos:

Please bear with me as Mr. Spider and I try to get our lives to settle down back to normal. In the meantime, here are a few more pictures from friends.

Hey people, don’t feel bad for me. This is where I am blogging from:

King Size Pod beds around the pool.

My view while I blog.

WE GOT ALL OUR ROOMS BACK AT THE SHERATON.
AND AN ADDITIONAL ROOM.
AND SOME OF THE ROOMS ARE COMPED.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.
No major news, sheraton corporate is still trying to figure what the heck is going on. We are hoping that they will give us at least one room for my aunt who is flying in from Hong Kong tonight! The rest of us, it looks will have to stay at the Win Gate Inns.
I am working with corporate customer support of Starwoods actually and have gotten my complaint pretty high up the chain.
Thanks for everyone’s support. I really appreciate everyone’s best wishes. You all have a special place in my heart.
The past 2 days have been a nightmare but we’re not letting it put a damper on our spirits. The wedding is proceeding FULL FORCE baby.
If raising hell was an olympic sport, you’d bet I’d be the gold winner. Alas, even I, a self proclaimed gold medalist must admit defeat. There is simply no hell to be raised here. After speaking (read: screaming) at several directors and managers at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, it seems that nothing can be done. The hotel they are offering to transfer us to is the Win Gate Inn 3 blocks away. Yes, it is brand new but at best cannot be categorized as anything more than a nice motel.
My visions of getting ready in a beautiful suite and of my guests being able to stay in nice rooms have been dashed. They are simply not willing to make any other offers. If anything, they think they are going above and beyond by arranging this motel for us. Apparently every single room in their chain and Starwood’s chain has been booked. I made a complaint against the hotel with Corporate Customer Service yesterday and they too have not been able to get anywhere with them. We now have nowhere to stay for our wedding night. The situation is beyond hopeless.
But you better believe I will take this matter up and seek remedy at every legal venue possible.
