About Me: Mr. Sunflower & I have been together for 3 years and to this day, he laughs at me when I tell him that I knew on our first date that I was going to marry him. Well, the most recent events prove, yet again, that I know everything. Most of my time these days involves planning and getting inspiration for our wedding, but when I'm not doing that, I enjoy shopping, movies, reading, writing, and making attempts at being crafty.
Mr. Sunflower has vetoed the Antique Olive dinnerware!! Imagine my suprise - afterall, this is the same man who told me and I quote, “I don’t care what I eat off of.” Let the new search begin.
I’ve also decided on our wedding song since Mr. Sunflower feels like I should be making all of these decisions. It’s When You Say You Love Me, by Josh Groban - SO beautiful. I was pushing Van Morrison’s Crazy Love for a while, but Mr. Sunflower gets too emotional when he hears it and doesn’t want to break down into a blubbering mess during our first dance. So, Josh Groban it is - I like that song just as much though, so it’s not a huge deal.
Does your first dance song have a special meaning? How did you choose it?

Our 3rd ringbearer made his appearance on October 20th! He’ll be 1 and change by the time our wedding rolls around, so we’re thinking of rolling him down the aisle in a wagon. Welcome Dominic Christopher!

Things have been relatively quiet here on the Sunflower Wedding front. With the major vendors booked, there’s at least another couple of months before we book the limos and florist. I haven’t had a chance to go dress hunting yet due to a series of health complications for both Mr. Sunflower and myself, and I’m feeling kind of down in the dumps.
We did, however, begin registering for a few things at Bed, Bath & Beyond. After much thought, we decided not to register for fine china b/c we’re just not fine china people. Instead, we’ve registered for two different sets of everyday/casual dinnerware:
“Cappuccino” from Pfaltzgraff:

I stopped into Pier 1 one afternoon after work just to see what kind of merchandise they had to offer, and I found some things that I really like. I think I may have to talk to Mr. Sunflower about the possibility registering for a few things there:

Here’s a pic of my e-ring and the matching band:

Mr. Sunflower plans on getting two of the bands for me to wear on either side of the ring - my mom has something very similar and he likes the look… as do I.
I’ve been looking for some ideas for Mr. Sunflower’s wedding bands - I say bands because I’d like him to have something plain to wear everyday to work, as well as a dressier band for special / family / evening outtings. Here are some ideas:

Just out of curiousity…for those of you who are already registered, how many stores are you registered at? One, two, three, four+. Four+ sounds like a lot, but I’ve been getting different kinds of input from everyone.

I did a search on the site today to find the Denver Fabric posts. I can’t figure out a way to make my own little mosaic, so I’m going to just wing it from swatches I borrowed from Venus Bridal. If someone can help me make it look like an actual mosaic, I would greatly appreciate it.

Our engagement party (two Sundays ago) was a total success! The food was fabulous, the decorations looked great, my menus came in handy (especially for the great aunts and uncles, who kind of get lost in the shuffle when a buffet is involved), and everyone had a great time! Here are some photos from the affair:

After making about half of the menus for the engagement party, I decided to print out the STD bookmarks that I’ve been playing around with. I made three of them, with a different font for each. I was debating on sending out all three styles so everyone gets a different bookmark, but mom and I really like the first one. It looks more formal than the others.

I purchased cardstock from A.C. Moore for $0.20/page. The little flowers at the top and bottom of the bookmark are a dingbat font called “Vintage”.
Opinions/suggestions welcome!

Our engagement party is a week away! We’re having a buffet dinner and some delicious treats for dessert, so I decided to make menus to put on all of the tables listing what’s available for dinner.
Here’s a rough draft:

This afternoon I packaged all of the personalized M & Ms into little mini treat bags for our guests. Here’s what they look like at the moment:

These are the baggies that I purchased from the local Party City. I believe they were $1.99 for a package of 100. They come with silver twist ties:

I’m not sure where to put them on the day of the party. I was thinking a little basket on the table next to the “two peas in a pod” salt and pepper shakers, but then there’s also the possibility of putting them directly on the tables. Any input?

Last night I attended the wedding reception of my good friends Joanne and Bobby, and this morning I woke up inspired and ready to get back into wedding planning/posting mode. I’ve been in a rather “blah” mood since booking the hall, photographer, and DJ because I’ve had nothing pressing to do.
Last night was just so much fun. It was wonderful to see my friends so happy and it was great to experience that with Mr. Sunflower, as well. Plus, yesterday I received pictures of the bouquet that I absolutely fell in love with at the Jericho Terrace Bridal Showcase, as well as the sample invitations I ordered from White Aisle.
First things first: the bouquet. This is exactly, exactly, exactly what I want, only lavender roses will be replacing the pink roses shown here. This beautiful creation was courtesy of Flowers By Brian. I told the representative several times that she needed to take it away from me before I left the hall with it.

Our engagement party is in two weeks and I still have nothing to wear. It’s at a local restaurant that warrants a “casually nice” dress code. If I wear a tea-length dress, will I be overdressed?

Always check your contracts with a fine-tooth comb to make sure everything is accurate, and that there are no hidden disclaimers anywhere at the bottom of the page.
The day we booked our entertainment, we stated that we wanted a live percussionist and that our reception was running from 8:30 to 1:30 with the cocktail hour. The first copy of the contract had the wrong hours and no percussionist. Fine, the manager corrected it and gave us a new one. Last week, we added something to our package and the manager stated that she would be sending us an updated contract. When I received it in the mail on Saturday, the percussionist wasn’t checked off again, however the price was still reflecting it. Not to mention that we changed our mind about something and wished to have it removed - only to be told that we were only allowed to add things to the package, not subtract.
Today I feel like a Bridezilla.
