I’m totally falling for the bird trend. I just love birds. I’ve been trying to nail down a certain “feeling” for our wedding, to aid me in designing our invites and programs. This has probably been the most difficult part of planning because I’m such a stickler for tone and feeling. Who knows, I think I may have serious problems.
I’ve got the color, that’s yellow. Bright, cheery and natural. And now, I just have to have birds. I have no personal connection to birds, except when I look at them, they make me happy. Isn’t that enough?!

After all the comment love, I’ve been persuaded to do a quick tutorial on the business card size schedules I made for the Groom and his Groomsmen for my sister’s wedding. Truth be told, this was a super easy project. I spent a good hour on the girls’ schedules and I’m not even sure they looked at them but once. However, the guys were really loving their schedules, and let’s face it. They’re guys, they need a little a reminder of where to be, right?!
All of you non-Illustrator users can rejoice because I made the schedules in good ol’ Microsoft Word. I simply formatted the document to 0.2″ margins on every side, changed the orientation of the paper to landscape, and added three columns.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes for my sister’s wedding this past weekend! I read the comments and I know many of you are interested in the business card sized schedule I made for the groomsmen. Boy, they were a hit! I caught the guys looking at them all the time and putting them back into their wallets! I will do a post on them shortly!
I will also be posting about my experience as the Maid of Honor for all you ladies that have the same job! It was a lot of work, but the benefits are huge, especially when you see the bride happy and married!
Sister Coconut & Sister Coconut’s new hubby!
Any ladies out there a Maid of Honor in an upcoming wedding?

When I applied to be a bee, I never thought to mention that my sister would be getting married four months before me, but it’s turned out to be quite a great thing to blog about for me! Plus, you can only take so much of the Coconut wedding, right?! (That was a test!)
So, I’m packing right now for Sister Coconut’s wedding. One of her bridesmaids is picking me up in three hours to drive over to Jacksonville, where my sister will surrender the last name we’ve shared for so many years. It’s been a privilege to be her Maid of Honor, and I can’t wait for the big day. In the meantime, I’ll share a couple of projects I’ve been working on these last few days. You’re getting the exclusive, because the bride hasn’t even seen them yet!

Continuing with all things Etsy, I present to you my lovely bridal clutch. I originally bought something that was all bridal and quite beautiful, but as our wedding started to take shape, I felt the original was too fancy. My sister will be using it for her wedding this weekend!
This clutch is amazing because it’s huge and I can use it again! My heart flutters every time I look at it. I bought it from Etsy seller BlueOrchidBags.

You know I love etsy, so let me share some of the things I’ve bought on there!
As many brides do, I’m fiddling around with the idea of doing a candy buffet. Now, this idea has sort of transformed into a popcorn or cookie buffet, but this sign would still apply. I regularly browse etsy, saw this sign, and loved it. I bought the sign from etsy seller OrangeBeautiful.

I know that’s an old joke, but I just couldn’t resist.
We made our Save-the-Dates in early March to give our guests plenty of time to make arrangements for our November wedding! Here are the print-outs I used for the main save-the-date. I used the ink blocker to make the calendar green, but everything else was in brown. In retrospect, I should have used brighter colors, but hindsight is 20/20, right?!

I’ve always loved taking pictures. I’m not particularly good at taking them, but I’m very good about pressing the snap button…A LOT. So you can imagine my delight when I discovered photography blogs! Jessica Claire, Susan Stripling, CheninBoutwell…OH MY! Yes, these names are second nature to me now, it’s quite pathetic. I’m a super photography blogstalker, LOOK OUT!
Naturally, the first vendor we booked was our photographer and the search was quite difficult for us. For one, we had a budget and the photographers I had been drooling over were well beyond it. I will admit that I was skeptical I would find someone with great talent at a low cost, but after much diligent searching and cost comparisons I found one. His name is Jason Angelini. Jason is great for a lot of reasons. He and his wife, Lucia give me tons of feedback on vendors and random questions. They are my wedding analysts. Most importantly though, he was very reasonably priced. For two graduate students, that was essential.

I realize the title of this post is horrendously boring, but practical posts deserve practical titles for ease of searching! Don’t hate.
Last night, Sister Coconut, her lovely bridesmaid Lindsay, and I made the OOT bag labels and flower initials (a la Pootiekins) for her wedding, which is only 1.5 weeks away!!! Before we started all the crafty goodness though, Mr. Coconut and I gave Sister Coconut her wedding gift.

My apologies for the week long absence. Lots of things have prevented me from blogging, namely the absence of internet as a result of relocating. The Coconuts should be wired today, so I’ll be back in full blogging force in no time!
As a break from all the wedding planning though, I wanted to talk about how crazy my life is! Or better yet, how crazy life is for ALL brides-to-be. Why is it when you decide to get married, lots of other things happen, too? I know, some of you may be thinking, “That’s just life.” Admittedly, yes life involves many decisions, but let me give you a preview of Miss Coconut’s life in the year 2008. Read more…
