Like many, my bridesmaids live all over the country and won’t be coming to Colorado until the wedding. In addition, they are all different sizes and heights from 5’1″ - 5′ 11″, size 0 - 14. I wanted to find them a dress that they could potentially wear after the wedding, made them feel comfortable, and universally looked good on each bridesmaid. My mother also graciously offered to pay for the dresses, so I had wanted to find them for under $100 each.
Back in November, I was surfing the internet at work (I know I am a bad employee!) looking at the Ann Taylor Celebrations dresses. Luckily, they were having a sale on the Chloe Dress in Espresso. It was brown which fits with our wedding colors, A-line to fit all the different body types, and at $79.44 I couldn’t beat the price.

During my lunch break a few Fridays ago, I had an appointment with the fabulous veil designer Sara Gabriel during her trunk show at my bridal salon, Anna Be. Sara was wonderful, bubbly, energetic, and highly creative. It was so much fun to try on veils and play dress-up, and the best part was that I got 10% off if I bought my veil that day. During the entire session she made me feel at ease, but I think the stress of the wedding and day-to-day life finally exploded into a bout of indecisiveness — I like to call it my very bridal moment.
What excited me most about the day was that I could try on my dress while trying on veils. When I arrived at Anna Be, Stacy, who helped me find my dress, informed me that my dress sample had recently been sold at their sample sale, but they had an Augusta Jones dress similar to mine. Although the top was similar, the bottom was not even close. I have a mermaid skirt and this was a pure A-line.
Just to give you an idea of my bridal attire theme, I am going for a modern, old Hollywood look — simple, yet very elegant.
When we started the session, I told Sara that I wanted to play around with long and short veils. She started me off in a long cathedral length veil.

“By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call’d,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.”
Act 2, Scene 2 Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

To help satisfy the age old ”Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue” tradition, I visited my grandmother, who has an extensive jewelry collection, to see what I could “borrow.” During our search, we found these beautiful old earrings.

My favorite Sex and the City episode is I Heart NY during Season 4. Not only do I love the scene where Carrie and Big are “twisting” to Mancini’s Moon River, but I also love this moment (above) where Carrie spies a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes to buy for her date with Mr. Big. Remembering this episode reminds me about my own experience buying bridal shoes!

I have always wanted to get married in the mountains. I grew up in Montana, and the mountains remind me of home. For several reasons we decided not to get married in Montana, but I at least wanted the mountains to be the backdrop. Read more…

I have a list of daily bride blogs that I read every morning, Weddingbee being one of them, for wedding inspiration. Like Ms. Cherry Pie in her post about her inspiration board, I discovered inspiration boards via Snippet and Ink and Style Me Pretty (Abby, the writer of the blog, was kind enough to publish my inspiration board). I am a very visual person, and I think inspiration boards are a great way to communicate your wedding style/dream through images. Also, I have given my inspiration board to many of my vendors, and in the words of my florist, “It really helps bring the feel of the wedding to life.”

During our long distance relationship, Mr. Cookie and I spent countless hours on the phone, and Europe was one of our main conversations. Right after college I got a job in London, and during that time I was able to travel around most of Europe. Mr. Cookie had never been to Europe, so we decided that our first big vacation together would be a two week backpacking trek through England, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and Belgium.

Hello!!! I am Miss Cookie and I am super-duper excited to be a bee! I was bouncing off the walls when I got the news at work, and I am so honored to be a part of the hive. Ever since I found out about Weddingbee, I’ve been an avid daily reader. I can’t wait to share with you all our crazy adventures in planning our nuptials, and I hope that I can be as much inspiration to you as Weddingbee has been to me. We have t-minus four and a half months until the big day, so hold onto your seats because I’ve got a lot of wedding planning stories to share!
First, let me tell you a little about how Mr. Cookie and I met. We have been together for a year and half, and we will get married two years after we met and almost a year (only off by a day) after Mr. Cookie proposed to me in Paris - stay tuned for that story. Ironically, we met at a wedding of two of our good friends. The night of the wedding, Mr. Cookie and I danced the night away and talked well into the wee hours of the morning — before I had to catch a 6 AM flight back to Washington DC. Although, I had lived in Colorado for several years, two weeks prior to the wedding, I moved to DC for a theatre job. The moment I got back to DC, I emailed Mr. Cookie, and thus began our long distance relationship.
