About Mrs. Moonbeam

Well hive, this whole wedding process has certainly had its ups and downs, but the positivity of this place (as ethereal as it may be) has helped me to focus on the ups.

So, thank you, hive, for forcing me to find the positives. It’s pretty embarrassing to put it all out there pre-game and then be too unhappy with the end result to put it up. Blogging forced me to focus on the stuff I was happy with, and since weddings are never perfect, it’s a great thing to focus on.

Compare and Contrast

January 26th, 2011 @ 2:32 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

Since I’ve got two weddings under my belt (both to the same man and within 6 months, in case some of you forgot, or never knew) I thought I’d do a little comparison of the two.

First, we had a small ceremony at Point Dume in Malibu. It was casual, quick and pretty inexpensive.

After the Fact

January 20th, 2011 @ 6:53 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

So, we all know how I felt about our wedding photography, and I’m not going to rehash all of that, but I did still have to make our parents photo books for Christmas (I used MyPublisher and the parents loved them), which meant I had to get some pictures done right. I found Peter Steinhoff on a photography forum and contacted him to see if he could work some magic. He did what he could to reduce some of the noise, remove the red lines and worked on correcting the color.

Under the Harvest Moon: Wrap Up

January 10th, 2011 @ 3:47 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

Sorry about the hiatus! I had two whole weeks off for Christmas, so I fled to Texas for a whirlwind visit toSan Antonio, Austin, Houston, Galveston, and to eat breakfast tacos! They are so good. But anyway, I digress.

After the first dances, the reception slipped into that period of chatting, hanging out, photoboothing and some intermittent dancing.

I got to dance with flower girls and guest girls. This was my favorite part of weddings growing up, so I loved this part.

I would like to start this post out by letting it be known that Mr. Moonbeam did enjoy himself, see proof below. He may “hate” dancing, but that smile on his face makes me think otherwise.

Best of the ‘Bee: Finished Invitations!

November 18th, 2010 @ 1:57 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

One of my favorite projects was our invites. It took me a while and many discarded design ideas to get to the end result, but I was really happy with them. We got tons of compliments from recipients and I like that they are very us (or at least very me, I don’t think Mr. MB cared one bit). They were also the thing I had the most control over, go figure. Hope you like ’em.

Under the Harvest Moon: The Grand March

November 17th, 2010 @ 2:23 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

Our first anniversary is this Sunday, and while it doesn’t look like I’ll finish my recaps by then, I am close and I’m really happy my favorite part of the night is up next in the recaps. It’s been quite a year and I’m really glad to look back on this extremely fun half hour.

I have a feeling ’The Grand March’ changes itself up for various cultures around the globe, but Mr. Moonbeam is part Czech and it’s that part of his family that partakes in this fantastic tradition.

Under the Harvest Moon: Cake

November 11th, 2010 @ 2:51 pm by Mrs. Moonbeam

Now it was time for cake. I think the general rule is to save this for a little later, because apparently many people think it’s the ’end’ of the reception. I didn’t really know that, and I just wanted cake, so we cut it. A few people left earlier because of it, which kind of stinks, but I needed cake.

Under the Harvest Moon: Reception Part 2

October 28th, 2010 @ 11:11 am by Mrs. Moonbeam

The food!

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t put much thought into the food. For apps we had standard veggie, fruit and cheese trays that were gone before Mr. MB and I even got there. Whoops. And for dinner I knew our budget, our location, and the limits of catered food and went for the old Texas standby: BBQ.
