Last night I had dinner at Sakagura with some of the New York Bees. Sakagura carries over 300 different types of sake, and features an extensive assortment of Japanese dishes served like tapas. Here are just some of the things we tried!
Last Friday morning, I woke up to a Winter Wonderland — our first major snowfall of the season! I was worried that some of the Bees might have difficulty making it to the get together, but they all made it safe and sound.

I was so worried about not having enough food, that I went a little overboard. But we actually ran out of alcohol and I had to get more champagne and beer — I kept everyone’s glass filled all night long.

I just spent about 10 minutes taking pictures of my wedding ring and engagement ring, and I couldn’t wait to show you the results!
The picture above and below was taken with my Canon XTi Rebel and a Canon EF 28-135mm lens. Don’t let the gear fool ya though — I’m a total photography newb. It was really hard to get the rings in focus!
Posting will be light over the next couple of days, but we do have a couple of surprises in store, so stay tuned and stay warm!
This is our 9 foot tree! Happy Holidays from everyone at Weddingbee!

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
This year the Bees participated in a Secret Santa where we exchanged ornaments of each Bee’s character! Some were made, some were purchased, but all were adorable. With a budget of $15, check out what our talented and creative bees came up with!
You may have noticed that we added Newlywed and Month Twin Boards over the weekend!
We wanted to create a place where newlyweds could hang out after their weddings, so that’s how we came up with the idea for a Newlywed Board. It’s a place where you can talk about decorating, buying a home, cooking, entertaining, relationships, sex… just about anything! (You’ll probably see me on there often even though I’m no longer technically a newlywed
).
The Month Twin Board is where you’ll be able to meet other fabulous brides getting married in the same month as you are. It’s a great way to see where your month twins are in the planning process, and to keep each other motivated! If you haven’t already, start a thread looking for your fellow month twins!
Please have a look around and let us know what you think! ![]()

We’re so happy to announce the latest PRO to join the Weddingbee hive! Please help us give a warm welcome to Courtney, the uber talented gal behind custom invitation company Flush Designs. She not only designs invitations, but she also styles weddings, arranges flowers, and second shoots photography - a true jane of all trades!
Courtney has an amazing tablescape that she designed up on Weddingbee PRO now. Please go check it out and say hello!

We recently added the ability to upload images to Classifieds! Now you can upload up to 10 images when you post a listing.
I always knew images would add a lot to classifieds, but I have to admit: I was definitely surprised at just how helpful it is. You can really see the difference:
If you have a chance to check out our listings or post an image, that would help a lot! The process of posting images isn’t perfect, but we hope that overall it adds to the Classifieds experience. Please let us know what you think!

ps. While we were at it, we also went ahead and added pictures to boards! Check out this thread, and upload a picture of your wedding shoes to help us test it out! ![]()
After Anne Ruthmann posted this fantastic tutorial on how to take ring shots on Weddingbee PRO, Weddingbee reader Lillindy used Anne’s advice to capture these amazing pictures of her Tacori ring below. Of course that gave us an idea for a fun new feature: we’re going to feature ring shots that you send us dear readers!
So read Anne’s tips, get creative and take some fabulous pictures of your ring, write up a little description, and email us with your username at guest at weddingbee.com. I’ll definitely be taking pictures of my own rings and posting them here too. We can’t wait to see what our talented readers come up with!
We added Bee Levels over the weekend!
Remember the Post Counts we added to boards a while back? Now as your post count goes up, you can gain Bee Levels. Here’s how it works:
Wannabee: 0 posts
Newbee: 5+ posts
Worker bee: 50+ posts
Helper bee: 200+ posts
Busy bee: 500+ posts
Bumble bee: 1000+ posts
Honey bee: 2500+ posts
Bee Keeper: 5000+ posts
We actually started testing this on Friday, and collected feedback over the weekend. Chelseamorning and driftslikesmoke suggested some tweaks, so we added a new Level at 500 posts (before there were no levels between 200 posts and 1000 posts). Hopefully that helps.
At first we thought Bee Levels would be just for fun… but it’s actually surprisingly helpful when reading the boards! Wannabees are much more likely to be a spammer posting something tricky… and Helper bees are much more likely to be helpful.
Please note: post counts only count your posts and comments on the message boards! Our boards software is different from our blog software, so there’s no easy way to count blog comments yet. We’ll look into that over time.
I am humbled to admit that I am just a “worker bee”, with only 123 posts to the boards! I’m going to make an effort to be more active on the boards. We’ll be continuing to upgrade the boards over the next month, so they should get more and more active as time goes by.
Bumbly Yours,
Mrs. Bee (worker bee)
I feel like I’m sharing so many product reviews, what with my recent glowing review of Fresh’ Sugar Face Polish, but when I find something I love, I feel like I have to share it!

I just purchased Laura Mercier’s oil-free foundation in Sunny Beige, after hearing rave reviews about it for years… and it definitely lives up to the hype! I was surprised because I tried her much touted tinted moisturizer many years ago, and didn’t like it at all. But a makeup artist at Bloomingdales put some primer along with the foundation on me, and I liked it so I purchased it. Later that night I went out to a birthday party, and someone complimented me on how great my skin looked, then asked what product I used! I was sold!
I may be biased, but I love Weddingbee PRO.
If you haven’t already, please check out Anne Ruthmann’s post today on why it takes so long to get wedding pictures from your photographer, as well as all the other fabulous posts!
PS - We have some great new pros joining the hive, but many of them are traveling due to the holidays. Stay tuned for some exciting additions!
Please click on over to Weddingbee PRO to give a warm welcome to the newest member of the PRO hive, the fabulously talented Leigh Miller (who also happens to be Miss Hot Cocoa’s photographer)!
I think the stories behind how pros enter the wedding industry are fascinating, because they often fall into it accidentally or while pursuing a hobby or passion. So check out all our PROs’ stories for lots of inspiring tales!
When we introduced shoes, you guys went totally gaga over them! Mrs. Penguin and I thought that stiletto would be the first to be snatched right up.

But the shoes have actually been some of our least popular characters to date, with new bees opting to be hors d’oeurves or makeup instead. We got to talking, and neither Mrs. Penguin or I could see ourselves as a shoe either. I mean you gotta have a certain type of personality to want to be Miss Stiletto,
and I think the Bees really pick characters that they identify with in some way.

A friend and I are headed to New Orleans January 1st - 4th!

We’ve booked our room at the International House, and are planning out our itinerary. While we’re there we’ll meet up with the Ballet Flats, visit Bourbon Street, eat at Cafe du Monde and check out a vampire tour (I need to read some Anne Rice and my recently purchased Sookie Stackhouse series to get in the vampire mood!). Of course I’ll be back with tons of pictures and an extensive post on New Orleans as a possible minimoon/honeymoon destination!
So what are your recommendations on fabulous things to do, see and eat?
