Simple Gold Place Card Holders

October 4th, 2006 @ 8:17 pm by Mrs. Ladybug

Sorry people. I’ve been feeling under the weather lately. We think we have a slight problem that involves bed bugs. Gross, I know. I have NO IDEA where they came from, but can you picture me trying to go to bed in the dark and constantly slapping myself in random places? I’m so paranoid and I feel so violated! I have a slight fever now. I don’t know if it’s bastard bed bug related, but my sponge bob thermometer told me that I had a slight temperature. Boo!

Question:
Where can I find gold place card holders? Not cutesy ones. Just simple, classic ones like these below. I can’t find them anywhere!! ~Miss Bird of Paradise

Simple Gold Place Card Holders : wedding new york seating tabletop B6 b6.jpg

For those of you who are interested Miss BOP found this on Beau-coup and they only come in silver. They’re $24.00 for a set of 12 and you need to order a minimum of 2 sets. I love these. They’re so cute and simple. Unfortunately you really don’t have much of a choice on the internet. I’ve been searching for 2 days man! The gold ones I’ve been finding are “cutesy” or just plain corny, and 24 bucks for 12 of these is not a steal if you’re on a tight budget. If you’re ordering for 100 guests it’s going to come out to well over $200 for these little babies.

String Trio/Quartet (Dallas)

September 15th, 2006 @ 3:28 pm by Mrs. Ladybug

I know that you guys are NYC based, but I’m trying to plan a wedding in Dallas. I’d like to hire a string quartet or trio for the ceremony, but the pricing seems to range from $450 to over $1500. I’m not musically inclined, so how do I know that I’m hiring the right people? What kind of questions should I ask? ~Kendra

String Trio/Quartet (Dallas) : wedding ceremony music new york Trio trio.jpg

This is for you girl.

I had a string trio at my wedding but it was easy for me because my cousin does this professionally. She’s a cellist and asked two other people. I think one played the viola and the other a violin, but I can see why it would be hard to find a trio/quartet.

I remember reading someone’s blog a while back, and I think she went to Juilliard and found some students who were willing to play for a low fee. Students are probably cheap. I mean c’mon, they’re students! I remember thinking how I thought she was a friggin genius for coming up with that, but alas, Juilliard is WAY out of the way for you so we shall focus on Dallas.

Most of my research is done on Google. Google is the shiznit yo and guess what I found for you? Oh and as for questions that you should ask? There’s a lot of FAQ’s listed on some of these sites. As for how do you know that you’re hiring the right people? I would pick a song that’s commonly known, something like Canon in D Minor, make appointments with several of them and ask them to play that song. But I mean that’s just me. That’s how I would judge them. They should know it. I mean what serious musician doesn’t know Canon in D Minor?! I mean really?!

Gig Masters
4 Harp Music
Forte Strings
Gyros String Quartet

Oh and another source that I found was Craigslist. I swear, the internet is a beautiful thing. *single tear* If you are planning on going through Craigslist and run into people who do this a side gig, I would most definitely also ask for references.

Hope this helps you.

Update on My Last Update

September 15th, 2006 @ 10:00 am by Mrs. Ladybug

All I can say is WOW!

My last entry on giving me something to write about opened up a family sized soup can of whoop ass for me! To hear so many brides stuck on so many things makes me sad. We know what we have to do but where do we start!? Why isn’t wedding planning made easy for us like a one stop shop?

I remember that feeling of not knowing where to start, or who to contact first, or what questions to ask. The worst is when you ARE new to this whole wedding planning craze, a vendor gives you an estimate and you think they’re trying to rip you off. But after some research you find out it’s the going rate and then you think “Are you EFFIN kidding me?! What you talkin bout Willis?!”

Oh, oh, and let’s not forget the man that planted that rock on your finger, your sweetie pie, your pookie who is now harping down your back about “Why does your dress cost this much?” “I’m sorry, did you just say $150 per head? You crazy?!” and blah blah blah…. Shut up! You don’t ever yell that out, but girls you know you want to!!! Hahahaha…..

Well relax! That’s what we’re here for. Booyakasha!

I’ll try to go through all your requests! I promise!

Sometimes when I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll. I can easily write 3-4 entries in one day and then I’ll have writer’s block for a week. So to help me and give me something to do… is there something you ladies want me to research?

Old Navy currently has some really pretty gift wrapping paper. I don’t remember, but I think I got these 3 rolls for 10 bucks.

Movie: In Her Shoes

September 9th, 2006 @ 4:05 pm by Mrs. Ladybug

A few weeks ago I saw this movie and I really liked it. The movie takes place in PHILLY! Woohoo!

Movie: In Her Shoes : wedding movies new york Shoes1 shoes1.jpg

It’s about two sisters, one’s a back stabbing ho, who have nothing in common but their shoe size but they eventually learn to understand one another after meeting their grandmother. At the end of the movie the older sister gets married at this small Jamaican restaurant and the younger sister picks out her dress for her. Maggie (played by Cameron Diaz) who’s the back stabbing ho, is the younger sister who has dyslexia. At the end of the movie, to surprise her sister Rose (who’s played by Toni Collette), she reads a poem by E.E. Cummings. I lost it.

I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere i go you go, my dear;
And whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling
I fear no fate
For you are my fate, my sweet
I want no world
For beautiful you are my world, my true
And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
And this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart

Movie: In Her Shoes : wedding movies new york Shoes2 shoes2.jpg

I think no matter how much you fight with them and probably hate them, at times there’s nothing like the bond between sisters. Besides the bond between a mother and a child I think it’s the next strongest bond. I don’t even think you can put it in to words. I mean I have 4 and we did a WHOLE LOTTA fightin growing up but I love them and I don’t think I can live without them.

Why Am I Such A B!*#&

September 5th, 2006 @ 2:06 pm by Mrs. Ladybug

Yesterday while Mr. Ladybug was taking a nap, I caught the middle of Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It’s about this woman, Helen, who married a wealthy lawyer, Charles, and after 18 years he threw her out of the house in front of his mistress. I don’t know if he was wealthy after they got married or before, but she wasn’t a gold digger. She truly loved him. Apparently he was very abusive to his wife and took her for granted.

She moves in with family and starts a journal about starting over. Then she meets Orlando and they fall in love. One night she’s sleeping over at his place and in the morning when she wakes up, he’s already making breakfast for her. She goes into the bathroom and is fixing her hair when she notices an engagement ring on her finger. He put it on her finger while she was sleeping! She turns around to walk out so she can confront him about it, and he’s already standing right outside the door! He says something along the lines of “I love you. I know you’ve been hurt but I won’t hurt you. I just want to take care of you. All you have to do everyday is get up in the morning and I’ll take care of the rest.” surprised.gif

I started crying like a lil bitch. Can you imagine waking up, doing your daily morning routine, you’re just totally oblivious like “lalalala lalalala,” and then all of a sudden you notice an engagement ring on your finger?!

Then towards the end she brings her ex husband with her to church, and he goes up to the front because he’s so moved by the gospel choir’s music. I just lost it again. Why am I such a lil bitch?

Thank God Mr. Ladybug was sleeping! He would have made fun of me. I want to go to a Baptist Church.

Honeymoon Research: Maldives

September 4th, 2006 @ 11:39 am by Mrs. Ladybug

We decided that this trip would be WAY over our budget. Maybe some day.

I have decided that once our kids graduate from college and get decent jobs, they will be forced by moi to chip in and send the hubs and I here. This is the only reason I’m thinking of having children. I keed! Sike, no I’m not.

Future Child: But mom I’m too little!
Me: Stop making excuses just because you only 8! Get a job, save up for this trip for me and your dad, and then you can quit!
Future Child: But what about school?
Me: Fuck school son. I’ll teach you how to add and subtract.
Future Child: Mom you’re smart.
Me: Please son. Tell me something I don’t already know.

Ok you can put your phones down right now if you’re thinking about calling some child abuse helpline. Hell I’m not even pregnant. Check back with me in about 23 years. I’ll give you my number then. And don’t think about ratting me out to the husband. I guarantee you he will be all for abusing our children to get what we want. So you can fogeddaboudit! silly.gif
