About Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts.
Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
These costs are approximate because I am L-A-Z-Y. But seriously, I think I’ve got a pretty accurate representation of the costs. Scout’s honor.
# of Invitations: 113 (plus additional invites that were similar, but printed on regular paper and some that were e-mailed out. Sorry, guys.)
Total Cost: Approximately $280 (including postage)
Cost Per Invitation: $2.40

Mr. Bunny is a huge zombie-movie fan, so there’s no way he could resist attending the third annual Zombie Walk Columbus, downtown, earlier this month!
In case you’ve never heard of them, zombie walks are mostly a great excuse for people to dress up and scare others when it’s not Halloween.
Kidding, kind of. Really, it’s a fun canned food drive for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. “Raise the dead to feed the living” is their slogan. Clever, right?
Mr. Bunny wasn’t too keen on attending our shower in his hometown a few weeks ago, so I made him a deal. I’d go to the Zombie Walk if he came to the shower. Nice guy that he is, he didn’t make me dress up.

With less than three weeks until the wedding, the stress of everything is really starting to wear on me.
I really don’t have that much wedding-related stuff to do (at least, stuff that’s very important), but I do have to move out of my apartment by June 30 — which includes slapping a layer of paint on the walls because the roomie and I decided to get creative with color about a year ago.
On top of that, I really want to have everything done by next Friday so that I have a full week to take care of any last-minute details that pop up.
Everything really got to me last night, and I ended up crying on the phone with Mr. Bunny.
“There’s not enough time!” I wailed. “I’m not ready to get married!”
Mr. Bunny struggled not to laugh. Apparently I make funny noises when I cry.
“Of course you’re ready,” he said, matter-of-factly. “You’re more ready than I am.”
“I’m not emotionally ready!” I insisted, still crying. “We haven’t met with the pastor enough yet!” (As background, Mr. Bunny and I went to 2-3 months worth of counseling with a Christian counselor and have met with our pastor 3 times already.)
“You’re totally ready,” Mr. B said. “Besides, the wedding isn’t the end of everything. We’ll still be here after the wedding.”

Following my resolution to make do with what I’ve got and not spend more money on wedding decor, I came up with these:

They’re a variation of Junk Camp’s stamp photo holders, found here.
I chose to use these cookie cutters because my mom and I both have a ton of them and I wouldn’t have to drill holes in them to accomodate the wire. After the wedding we can remove the wire (which is simple, thin gauge copper wire we had in the garage) and they can go back to being cookie cutters.

When I found out my younger brother’s prom was being held at our wedding venue, the Everal Barn in Westerville, Oh., I couldn’t wait to see how they decorated the place.

The barn (and the homestead, where my bridesmaids and I will get dressed) was once part of a privately owned family farm before the land was transferred to the City of Westerville in 1978.

The prom theme was Twilight at Everal (I wasn’t surprised, considering the popularity of the Twilight series).

I’ve explained to you my philosophy of makeup: Success in makeup is about being happy with how you look, not in following makeup rules. Get professional advice when necessary. Take some time to adjust to a new style before returning to your comfort zone.
What does this mean for a DIY makeup bride?
I would tell a DIY makeup bride to give herself a few weeks to try out different styles before the wedding. Set aside time to do your makeup and snap some pics of yourself (or have your fiance take some for you). Write down what products you used and how you applied them. You’d be surprised how quickly you can forget what color eyeshadow you used where. You’ll probably want to find products with staying power, so ask around for recommendations and take note of how long they last during your trials.
OK, so you’ve talked to the friendly makeup counter gal or guy and picked out some foundation and maybe some other products, too. You’ve got time to play around and you’re ready with a pen, piece of paper and a camera.
If you have dry skin, or even if you have slightly oily skin, I definitely recommend applying a thin layer of moisturizer before you put on your foundation to help it go on more smoothly and to give a more even layer of coverage. You can even mix your foundation with the moisturizer if you find it helps to do it that way. I use the back of my hand or, when I get down near the end of a bottle of foundation, I squirt some moisturizer in and shake it up to make it last longer. I recommend Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, but you can use whatever you like.

Welp, I’m officially broke (almost). I visited my bank accounts today to see where I should charge the honeymoon plane tickets and realized I am pretty much out of cash!
A bevy of last minute purchases during the past month — including Mr. Bunny’s ring — have completely exhausted my cash reserves.
It’s not as though I don’t have two pennies to my name. I’ve just officially reached my limit for wedding spending. After I plunk down $200 to get to Boston, I’m done with wedding spending until the honeymoon … that is, if I want to be able to actually DO anything while we’re in Cape Cod.
It’s the end of the line for my spending, folks.
I guess it’s time to look around and make do with the things I already have. I’ve stocked up a lot of craft supplies over the past six months, and I always seem to spot random objects that might work well for decor.
Time for me to toss out the credit card, kick my brain in gear and start thinking like a Junk Queen!

We’ve all heard the “do”s and “don’t”s of makeup. These rules — handed down authoritatively from beauty mavens at the mall, the glamour column in your favorite magazine or your mother when you were a teen — can guide a girl’s makeup application for years.
Makeup habits are hard to break because breaking them changes the way you look… and that can be uncomfortable for a lot of people.
Think about it for a second. How many times have you HATED your haircut right after your stylist finished? And how many times did you grow to love it after a few days or a few weeks?

1 week post-hair cut, feeling uncertain about my new ’do

Bad Bunny! I should have been working on my makeup tip post for you tonight. Instead, I procrastinated by doing wedding crafts …
Somehow, I don’t feel very guilty about that. Sorry, guys. There’s not much time left!

These were easy to make and could have been even cooler if I’d cared a little more. But heck, they’re $1 Frisbees from Michaels that I picked up on a whim one afternoon.

This week, I’ve taken on a very serious mission – one that few at work would guess I’m equipped to handle.
By day, I’m a mild mannered reporter, but after work I slip into the nearest phone booth and transform into …
MAKE-UP LADY!
Wielding my magic brushes and two large cases of makeup, I transform a cast of ordinary teenagers into a slew of crapshooters and hotbox dancers for the musical Guys and Dolls.

This poor high schooler looks scared because I just finished yelling “Not enough blush!” and attacking her face with my brush.

MAIL!!!!!
(I’m all about Blue’s Clues, people. I used to work at a daycare.)
I love getting mail. Most of my bills are delivered via e-mail, so I’m always excited to find something when I open my mailbox. It’s usually something good — either coupons, a package I ordered, or something special from a friend. Paper+ink+stamps = happiness, in my book.
Lately, every time I go home to my parents’, I have at least one or two postcards waiting for me. I always take time to read them thoroughly before updating the guest list and filing them away for safe-keeping.
I was a little wary at first of leaving the backs of our vintage postcard RSVPs blank, but it hasn’t caused much trouble. Everyone has been good about signing their name and being very clear about how many people will attend.
Unfortunately, in one case, they were a little too straightforward.
I got one postcard back that just said a last name and “6″.

I’ve been searching high and low for things I can use to decorate our barn that are 1. beautiful and 2. inexpensive.
With these two criteria in mind, the ubiquitous tissue paper pom has been at the top of my list for a while. Honestly, the idea seemed too easy. I was bound to screw up the DIY aspect of the project. Could it really be as easy as it looked?
My fears were confirmed when I tested my fan-folding technique on another wedding craft. I am an abject failure at fan folds. My folds are never ever even! My poms would be hideous! I shouldn’t even try!
Nonetheless, the necessity to clean out the backseat of my car – and thus, remove the pile of white tissue paper that had been lurking there since I wrapped an impromptu shower gift several months ago – pushed me to see if I could manage a paper pom.
I counted out eight sheets of white paper and began folding. The folds were uneven, as usual, but I decided to let perfection go and see how it turned out before I gave up.

My project ran into a speed bump when I whipped out my scissors to round the folded ends of the paper.
