Hive, I owe you a huge apology! I’ve been such a fail bee blogger the past couple of weeks with only about three posts in the past two weeks. We’ve been in invitation hell, thanks to our May send-out deadline, but I’m happy to say we are making progress! Supplies have been bought, and they are fabulous, if I do say so myself!
Fabric to back our invites has been screen printed…

About 3 weeks after sending our designer Kristen the inspiration pics for our invites, we received our custom proofs. I had begun to get a little nervous about the outcome of the invites since I hadn’t given Kristen any specific details regarding wording, sizing, and color, but I was ecstatic when I received our proofs. Kirsten worked her magic and was able to pull all the elements I loved into three separate invites for us to pick from.
Each invitation was sized to fit in a #10 envelope and had some Mid-century flair featuring our font, Festiva, with sewing and craft touches to unite our handmade modern theme. The first one was inspired by an invite I sent her, and echoed the look and feel of our STDs.

I always assumed I would design and assemble our wedding invites. Why wouldn’t I? I designed our oh-so-pretty save the dates so I should’ve been able to tackle the invites—no problem. Except for the fact that we were about a month and a half behind schedule in sending them out because it took me so long to finish the design—and let’s not forget the many many hours spent in front of my computer; time that could have been better spent on other projects that are now behind schedule. So, I’ve compromised and have handed over the design of our invitation suite along with all of our paper products to the professionals, and Hive, I couldn’t be happier!
For the past couple of months I’ve been working with our coordinator Amanda and design associate Kristen, and the whole processes has been a breeze. We started off by emailing her a hodge podge of inspiration pictures along with some pics of our STD, font choice and signature pattern.
First up were these fabulous invites by Pinkpolka Wedding Design. I love the bold pattern and simple layout.

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been driving myself mad searching for a wedding bracelet that would make me forget the one I originally liked. I became a woman obsessed—every day I would search like a mad women for THE perfect bracelet and every day I would moan to Mr. CCandy that nothing else compared to the Kate Spade and why can’t we be independently wealthy so I could buy a truck full of perfect bracelets.
Needless to say I was driving Mr. CCandy crazy so when I casually mentioned Kate Spade’s friends and family sale he tossed me his wallet and told me to buy the freaking bracelet. Surprisingly I said no, even with the discount I couldn’t justified spending almost 200 bucks on a piece of jewelry I would wear for one day.
Mr. CCandy wasn’t too happy with my decision; he was tired of hearing about the damn bracelet and gave me what he calls his David Tutera speech. He told me, and I quote, “for our wedding day, as long as it is within our means, you should get what you want. Yes, it’s only for one day but it’s THE day and he would hate knowing that on our wedding you would be regretting your choice of accessories because you wanted to save what equaled to a couple of dinners out.”
Swoon, Have I mentioned I love this man? I melted and agreed to head down to the Kate Spade store in Pasadena to see the bracelet in person. Read more…

Thank you Hive for all your wonderful comments and opinions on this post! After going back and forth between my top two favorite veils and polling every person who listens to my rambling on about veils, I finally bit the bullet and ordered this beauty!

It’s a bride’s prerogative to change her mind, and boy have I ever changed my mind. Remember this post where I discussed the details of my one-of-a-kind custom dress? Well, forget everything I said in that post… because I bought a dress!

Hive, I have a confession to make. I’m an addicted who’s hopelessly hooked on chairs. It’s a horrible addiction that eats up precious square footage and on a monthly basis, costs me money in the form of storage fees. Currently our tiny little home is filled with over 12 chairs, with three alone taking up space in our bedroom. But oh, how I love all my chairs, regardless of the space they eat up. I was looking for a way to incorporate this love of mine into our wedding day when I stumbled upon this picture-

Mr CCandy and I don’t have a “song.” If pressed we’d probably say Why Can’t We Be Friends by War but more for comedic reasons than sentimental. Couple our lack of song with our taste in music that tends to favor rock, and we have a potential case of inappropriate first dance songs.
The first song we considered for our first dance was You Really Got a Hold of Me by She & Him (also considered by the lovely Mrs Ribbons). It’s truly a beautiful song and the length is perfect for a first dance but I’m not sure the lyrics “I don’t like you but I love you” and “Oh ho ho you treat me badly” are the message we want to send during our dance.

At some point in their engagement, brides will be questioned by well intentioned (or not, depending on their motives) friends and family regarding the importance and prudence behind having a large and or “expensive wedding.” On the occasion that Mr CCandy and I cross paths with one of these well-intentioned people, we usually mumble something about our traditional families and quickly change the subject.
But, I want to tell them about all the hurdles we’ve overcome to be the couple we are now and why it’s important to celebrate our commitment with our nearest and dearest. I want to ask them about this so-called house they claim we can purchase in lieu of a wedding and where they think we can find a house in LA for the price of our wedding. I want to tell them about how much we value the institution of marriage and believe that it’s a precious right that unfortunately is not available to everyone and thus needs to be celebrated in the hopes that it one day will. And if all that still doesn’t satisfy their curiosity and if I’m feeling particularly emotional, I may even take it one step further and tell them about Mami CCandy—share with them her health struggles and her illness and let them know that even though her health may be stable now, I want to give her one day were we don’t have to worry about lung function or trial medication and where we can just bask in the glow of family love.
A wedding to us is not just about a fancy party with fancy dresses and pretty pictures, it’s about the moments and memories we’ll create.

I have a love hate relationship with veils. In theory I love them in all their frothy, dramatic, here-comes-the-bride wonderfulness, but in practice I’m not a fan. They get in your face (duh, that’s the point right?) they can get in your way, and for our tiny little wedding, a veil might be a little too much. Sigh…I love them even if they are too much for our wedding, so I’ve decided to indulge in my love in moderation and sport a birdcage veil on our day.
After some shopping I’ve decided that a delicate tulle birdcage veil was exactly what my day-of ensemble needs. Something like this: Read more…

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of sitting down with BM S and SD to discuss all things bridal shower. The girls pretty much had all the details handled but there was one element that I volunteered to take the lead on, and that was the favors. Like the lovely Mrs. Socks, lately I’ve found myself swooning over fabric flower pins like these from Emerson Made.
I knew the style and feel of these playful pins didn’t quit jive with the overall look and feel of our wedding—but our shower, now that’s another story.

Last week we officially hit 100 days out, and things are happening at the Cotton Candy house! Projects are being finished, to-do’s are being crossed off, and money is being spent. One of the most satisfying check mark on our list has nothing to do with DIY, décor or attire, and everything to do our budget.
In the many months since we officially began planning our wedding, Mr CC and I have been diligent with our budget. We have spent many evenings reviewing our budget and discussing our saving plan in hopes that come our wedding, all the funds we need are in place to pay all of our vendors. This month, all of our discussing and planning paid off, because we officially booked our final vendor and now know how much money we’ll be shelling out to vendors in the weeks leading up to our wedding. More importantly, we know how much money we need in the bank to pay all of our vendors off. Read more…

I have a confession to make, hive. When it came to picking out bridesmaids’ dresses, I gave the girls zero say in what they would be wearing on our day. Now before you go thinking I’m some crazy control-freak bride, let me plead my case. See, about a month before me and Mr. CC officially started planning our wedding, I stumbled upon and purchased this pattern by Cynthia Rowley.
