Uhm, I’ve lost my internal tracking device system that allows me to locate any and all electronic items throughout my house. This seems to have begun as soon as the boxes and boxes of lovely wedding gifts started arriving and cluttering up my house - not to mention the boxes of wedding supplies in every nook and cranny. This seems to be the reason behind why I cannot, for the life of me, find the camera that holds the photos from my last fitting.
No worries - I’m not going to leave you hanging here. Of course not! Instead, I simply waited a week for the next episode - my most recent fitting that occurred just yesterday. Keep in mind that we’ve jumped from the yellow sample fabric, right up to a finalized design. There are only minor fittings to do now, including the simple bustle that Carole has dreamed up.

When I first became engaged, I discovered that I had some pretty amazing people in my life. Not that I wasn’t aware of this beforehand, but in these crazy moments of wedding planning, it tends to become amplified. One of my most favorite and amazing engagement presents was the offer by one of my mom’s friends (who I’ve called Auntie Sue for most of my life) to give Mr. Pom and I ballroom dance lessons. Auntie Sue used to work at Arthur Murray - so these aren’t just any free lessons - they were professional lessons.

So, I’ve admitted that I’m a bit of a shopping fanatic, yes? This wedding has amplified my not-so wallet-friendly habits quite a bit. I’m starting to have a hard time not buying everything (even non-wedding related purchases) in the colors black, white and moss green. So when I went dress shopping for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and other wedding-related events, you can probably guess that I encountered the very same dilemma.
Macy’s clearance racks has been a veritable gold mine as of recent, and the Labor Day sales proved very worthy of my time. I pulled lots of dresses off the racks and dragged them into the dressing room with me. Most of my current dresses were either nightclub or black-tie worthy - and not the feminine dresses one would wear to a bridal shower. In fact, I’m not used to wearing the shapes I was looking at - so I used the technique that always helps me figure out if something looks good: I take pictures of myself with my digital camera.

Whew! With only a few weeks to go, things have been uber-busy in the Pomegranate residence! I’ve been working on finishing up a few big projects - namely our CD favors - and I’m rather excited to show them to you. Our Jewelboxing kit definitely made a complicated project much less difficult to complete - but I must warn you, before you take on creating 150 of these puppies, I will say it’s not for the faint of heart. Let’s just say I could really empathize with Miss Shortcake and her Letter to the Printer.

Our CDs are finished!
Just like Mrs. Penguin’s Evite Bachelorette invite, my girls chose to send a raunchy virtual invitation via MySpace. Last week I received an event notification in my inbox with the title of, “Miss Pom’s Bachelorette Party!” I excitedly logged in to my account to see if I could deduce any important details from the invitation, as MOH had been keeping the Bach Party planning a Top Secret. I’m warning you - I have NO SHAME when it comes to the class-lacking connotations of what falls below this break. NO. SHAME.

I am one of those extremely blessed brides that have friends and family members who decided to throw me three bridal showers! In fact, unbeknownst to me, there was a fourth shower secretly planned by my co-workers that I attended last week. This last shower left me a tad unprepared - but I came armed with hostess gifts for the other three showers. With three times the gifts including co-hosts and junior hostesses, I ended up purchasing twelve hostess gifts within my budget of $125. No worries - I love me a shopping challenge!
For the first shower, I chose a simple gift of some Willow Tree figurines. My MOH had received one of them many years ago and loved it - so I thought that she needed a new one to add to her collection. I purchased the “Thank You - Appreciating Your Kindness” Angel for my MOH and the “Just for You - With Sincere Thanks” Angel for MOH’s Mom, who gave us her home to party in.

Thank You Angel

In the second installment of bridesmaid bandit-dom, I’ll share with you the first of a few projects that was ripped out of my hot little hands and turned into another DISE project. Not that I’m complaining—it’s just that I felt so entirely guilty to bestow what I felt was one of my “bridal duties” onto another person. Which is silly, because ultimately, I could have easily purchased these gifts from a vendor and felt just fine.

Again bridesmaids, this is the stopping point for you! If you peek below the cut, you’re in BIG trouble!
Mamita Pom is often seen wearing fabulous jewelry designed and created by her good friend Lisa. She has earrings galore from Christmas and birthdays past—and they have always been meticulously made, oh-so-Bohemian, one-of-a-kind creations. So of course, when Lisa offered to help me make my wedding day jewelry, I eagerly nodded “yes!”
Before discussing my design ideas with Lisa, I wandered around the blogosphere searching aimlessly for inspiration. I wanted something different, but subtle. Something that would accent the simple lines of my dress and add a little sparkle to our wedding day. When I stumbled on to this collection of celebrities wearing long necklaces, I fell head over heels. I mean, check out this gorgeousness—how can you not swoon?!

Isn’t the fringed diamond necklace that Nicole Kidman is wearing here just delicious?
I was so inspired by the choices I had compiled in my last post on wedding bands, I decided to look into getting one of them made to see if it was within our budget. The ring I was interested in was almost perfect - but it was cast in sterling silver and a smidge too wide for my finger. Basically, I wanted a narrower, smoother, more clean-cut version of the below:

Double Band Empty Spaces Ring

I loved that the two sides didn’t quite meet in the middle - but that if you took the long route along the path of the band, it was still met back at the beginning. To me, this symbolizes that while a circle is still a great symbol for marriage, it is still hard work. It’s a great reminder to keep on my path of solid marriage when things get tough - and to not take the easy route out.

When budgeting for the wedding, Mr. Pom and I didn’t discuss what I intended to spend on gifts for my bridesmaids. We had decided that we would purchase gifts for each side of the bridal party respectively, and we would choose our own budgets. With six bridesmaids on my side and four groomsmen on his side, I had to be more frugal with my funds than he— but that didn’t stop me from attempting to maximize my monies! Of course, there was TONS of DIY involved—and a little DISE as well.
