To answer Miss Seabreeze’s comment on yesterday’s cupcake post, why yes, I WILL be making some cute little signs to guide guests to their flavor of choice! In fact, I’d like to showcase each flavor on our cupcake table, which will be front and center on a table in the foyer. I think it’ll make a fun, creative entryway arrangement for guests to ogle upon their arrival before heading up to Olive Hill.
The foyer in the R.H. Phillips Winery Tasting Room - our cupcake table will sit where the large barrels currently reside.

I fell in love with the idea of a cupcake wedding dessert after seeing a few gorgeous cupcake designs at a wedding show last December. The striped fondant ribbon-topped creations shown below will be paired with a couple different custom versions of the famed Hostess cupcake inspired designs shown underneath. With the decorations decided upon, the next step was to schedule a tasting!

Imagine these with black and white striped bows. Adorable, eh?

Lounge areas at weddings have become particularly trendy, and allow for some really chic ways to incorporate your wedding palette into a nice relaxing area for your guests to chill during your reception. I absolutely LOVE this idea! In fact, Mrs. Lime had a fabulous lounge area at her wedding:

Our venue has THE most gorgeous doors. They are gigantic, modern and covered in steel squares. They open up on an asymmetrical hinge and create a fabulous entrance to our event. In fact, they will set the stage for many memorable moments, such as the bouquet toss and the garter throw. My mom had the fabulous idea to have these two events take place outside the doors of our venue - and down the steps.
Watch out for skinned knees ladies - if you scramble for the bouquet, it’ll be up these steps!
These steps and doors will the be backdrop for some momentous photos and we will need to bring some of the decor from the inside, outside. Therefore, I will be adding a new DIY project to the list: a personalized door monogram.

My lovely Niece-in-Law Pom will be the Flower Girl in our wedding. Not only do I love this girl to pieces, but she is gorgeous and smart to boot! How lucky of a future Aunt am I? I knew that I needed to find an amazing dress for little NIL Pom to wear while she’s walking down the aisle.
After many, many online searches, I stumbled upon a few black and white polka dot dresses that I fell in love with. Namely, one dress by Rare Editions and another one by Bonnie Jean. Both were affordable, adorable and comfy looking. I wanted to go with a sundress sort of look - while October is technically a Fall month, in California, early October is pretty much always an Indian Summer.

Be forewarned - there will be lots of Anthropomorphism in this post.
Sebastian the Teacup Panther (or Black Housecat)
When Mr. Pomegranate and I started dating, I was already a proud single-mommy of a teacup panther called Sebastian (he’s really a standard black house cat). Sebastian was my guard kitty and kept me company during my single years when I lived alone. He is and always will be my baby boy.
Baby Sebastian at about 4 months old lounging and giving me his best “bedroom eyes.” What a stud.

My weekend began with a very exciting envelope that I received in the mail:
MOH writes, “Please come to this super cool party!”
Since this will be a lingerie shower, MOH asked me to create a text document that had my sizes on it so that she could copy and print inserts for all of the invites. She also asked me to harness my newly acquired Illustrator skills and create a map so that guests could find the shower location. I might have gone a little overboard on the final insert I handed her - but I assured her, it was created in only a few hours and was so much fun to make!

A shot of the pineapple ring holder in action, freshly unpacked from moving.
For those of you who guessed E) The Mid-century Modern—you’re wrong, but you have fabulous taste. For those of you who guessed D) The Edible Eclectic—you’re spot-on! I picked up the teensy limoges-esque pineapple box on a trip to North Carolina to visit BIL Pom at his Marine company’s return from Iraq last October. I found it on my very first trip to the infamous Cracker Barrel.

Okay peeps, let’s have a little fun with this multiple choice test! I’ve done lots of research on the topic of ring holders to keep my engagement ring safe and sound, and I have finally purchased my favorite. Let’s see if you regular readers can guess which one I picked…

Just like Miss Sundae, I wanted to have black and white damask table runners on our reception tables. Since I had received a sewing machine for my birthday last year, I thought, “wouldn’t this be a great opportunity to learn how to sew?” So I bought a couple of bolts of Michael Miller Black Dandy Damask Cotton Fabric, and some black thread. With a 45″ width, I would simply cut the bolt in half to create a 20″ wide table runner (with hems).

A few months ago, I visited Flirty Bridesmaid in her Bay Area hometown for a fun girlfriend’s weekend. We don’t get to see each other often as she travels a ton for work - so we’ll use any official sounding excuse to make plans for a weekend. Usually we spend the majority of it shopping for clothes, eating homemade fajitas and walking her pup Boston, with a teensy bit of errand running. This particular weekend was no exception, as this time our excuse was to go check out this amazing little bridesmaids’ dress boutique in San Francisco called And Something Blue.
And Something Blue carries a few choice Bridesmaid dress brands like Vera Wang, Thread, Nicole Miller and Coren Moore. It also happens to be awesome for two additional reasons. One, it’s got a sister shop right next door called Brown Eyed Girl which has fabulous clothing and jewelry to get your mind off of bridesmaid dress disagreements and on to non-wedding shopping bliss. Which brings me to reason number two, it also happens to be a short gander from the Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique. ’Nuff said. Read more…

I’m writing the post to announce that back in February, I made a pretty big decision that will ultimately prove the level of insanity that I have already reached: I signed up to run a Marathon.
Okay, so it’s technically a Half-Marathon. The Nike Women’s Marathon & Half Maration held in San Francisco, to be exact. To be even more exact, the event will be held two weeks following our wedding. Yep, I’m pretty much insane.

Yikes.
Or am I?
I made this decision out of frustration in trying to find the time, energy and motivation to work out often enough to lose the token amount of weight I deemed appropriate to lose prior to my first dress fitting - which was just last week. Attempting to get myself in tip-top shape for a one-day extravaganza is apparently not enough for me, no matter how big a deal it truly is to me.

I’ve been mulling over wedding invitation designs ever since I completed our Save the Dates. There are so many designs to choose from! Should I choose a envelopment enclosure? A stack of cards for each topic? Go simple and leave the rest to our wedding website?
After scouring the web for the past two months, I think I’ve narrowed the packaging down to a final decision: a booklet. I love the idea of creating a mini-book for many different reasons. First off, Mr. Pomegranate and I love to read (I’m now very aware of how much we love to read after unpacking our entire library since our recent move). Secondly, I think it’s a simple way to package the suite of information ensuring that the good stuff won’t get lost in the mix - plus I can create it in a post office friendly size for cheaper postage. Lastly, how could I pass up an opportunity to create my very own wedding invitation booklet after viewing these?!

After much hard work and critical thinking, our preliminary timeline went out via email to our vendors yesterday. Soon we’ll be scheduling our first meetings with the vendors since our initial booking, so it’s important that they all see where they fit in the mess of everything. This way no one steps on anyone else’s toes - they’ll hopefully be able to address any issues ahead of time.
My timeline was created with a wonderful piece of software that I purchased at the immediate onset of the wedding planning. iDo ($29.95) has allowed me to organize to the nth degree with all of its tools including contact management; invitations and RSVP tracking; gift and thank you tracking; checklists; vendor lists; event management; widgets for vows, songlists and more; menu options; and most importantly - a timeline builder!
