Best of the ‘Bee – Happy Earth Day!!!

November 30th, 2010 @ 9:46 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

Making our wedding a bit green was really important to both Mr. Peep and me (hence the green peep toe shoes). While we reduced the impact of our wedding by having the ceremony and reception all in one location, the majority of our guests came in from around the country (and Norway). Offsetting our wedding was something small that we may have done just for us, but it’s something I can look at and say that we made a difference. Plus, I LOVED our chocolate treats that we served with this quote:

Reduce what you can.
Offset what you can’t.*
In honor of our time together,
we have offset the weekend
through a donation to

You all know that Mr. PT and are trying our best to incorporate a few eco-chic elements into our wedding, so for us, Earth Day for us is a great reminder that we could be doing better.

One thing that is really important to the two of us is carbon offsetting our wedding! What does that mean? Let’s go straight to the experts on this subject. This is what Terrapass has to say about potential carbon emissions of your wedding:

Love by the Bay: The End of a Journey

January 26th, 2010 @ 8:14 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

What to say, what to say.

I’ve been on this wedding blogging journey for well over a year now. My goal was to finish this adventure in a year, but alas, my heart wouldn’t let me finish my recaps. So I set my goal to finish by Feb 2010.

I’ve been married for almost eight months and I’ve shared my ups, my downs and a lot of the in between with the hive. I’ve loved it. Each. And. Every. Second.

But I kinda, sort of, maybe lied to you. I didn’t blog about our entire wedding day.

I’ve left one part for the end, but here we are.

At the end.

So it’s time….

The sun had finally gone down on our wedding day. The lights had begun to flicker to guide the way. So our fabulous photographer (I really can’t recommend her enough), grabbed us and said it was time to leave the hotel:

About Mrs. Peep Toe

I was never planning on doing this post. It seemed less evasive to show you a picture of Mr. Peep in bed the day after our wedding than showing you the nitty-gritty details of our budget.

BUT a few weeks ago, Mama Peep commented that every penny spent on our wedding seemed well spent. So maybe this post is an ode to our good work—the hours and hours of hunting for the best vendors and feeling like we really did spend “our” money well. I say “our” money, because most of it really was a no-strings-attached gift from our beyond-generous parents.

That said, here is a rough estimate of all the gory details.

Budget: Originally I wanted to keep it under $20K, but then we got an unexpected boost from our in-laws. So our overall goal was $25K.

Venue, rentals and reception budget: 50%, or $10K.
Actual: ~$11,000
Venue: $1,000

Inspiration vs. Reality

October 26th, 2009 @ 4:53 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

I’ve probably read thousands of posts on Weddingbee, but one post that always stood out to me was Mrs. Flamingo’s post-wedding post on her inspiration vs. reality.

I think one of the very best things you can do as a bride is choose a color scheme and a feel for your wedding, and then stick to it!!! I really think sticking to my guns made the whole wedding decision making process easier.

BUT did I do it? Did I follow my own inspiration board?

Here’s my original inspiration board that I made over a year ago:

A Spoiled Rotten Nightmare.

October 22nd, 2009 @ 2:10 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Hi, I am Mrs. Peep Toe, and I am spoiled rotten.

A few months before our wedding, I *might* have mentioned under my breath (which might have also been ridden with alcohol) that my engagement ring would look even more perfect flanked by not just one band, but two. Yep, I was that girl that asked for it all up front.

Oops, did I do that??

So the day before our wedding, while I was getting the VERY BEST massage of my life, Mr. Peep was not just getting my ring cleaned, but also getting another friend for my finger (thank you tax return).

I have no pictures of us exchanging our presents, but I did take a picture of all three rings while I was basking in post-bridal bliss the morning after the wedding.

A Spoiled Rotten Nightmare. : wedding rings Wedding0551 Wedding055

And yes, that is Mr. Peep in the background blissfully sleeping, and yes, I have a totally crazy pinky finger, and yes, the time stamp is totally wrong and annoying (more on that later).

Reviewing Our Registries

October 21st, 2009 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

We began our registry over 15 months ago at Williams-Sonoma; fought our way through registering at Crate and Barrel; and jumped for joy when we found some common interests at Bloomingdale’s.

I spent a lot of time getting our registries just right before the wedding. And over the last four months, I have spent even more time returning, exchanging and re-thinking our registry—seriously, why did I think we needed three mini-butter dishes??

And at the end of the day, not all stores or registries are created equal. So, I thought I’d give an account of each of our registry experiences and throw in my favorite items at each store for good measure.

Up first, Williams-Sonoma – Grade: A-. WS is great, the people who work there are super nice, and it helps that the flagship store is only blocks away from where I work. That said, their online and in-store departments are completely separate. So, for example, if Aunt Mary buys you something online and it shows up broken or if you didn’t register for it in the first place, they’ll return the item in the store, but they have to mail you a gift card.

I was really bummed that we had to leave our cocktail party. In fact, it might be my biggest regret of the day. BUT, it did mean that I got some alone time with my new husband (that is, if you call being followed by a photographer and her assistant being alone).

Out of all the shots that were taken, my favorite ones were the ones we took when we weren’t taking ourselves too seriously.
