Say hello to our newest Southern belle of a bee—Miss Hawk!

Miss Hawk, Richmond, VA
Age and Occupation: 26, Finance
Fiance’s Age and Occupation: 30, District Supervisor
Engagement Date: March 13, 2011
Wedding Date: May 2012
Venue: The Chapel of the Sir Christopher Wren Building, 2007 Legacy Hall
About Me: I’m an Arizona-born girl who has spent the majority of my life living below the Mason-Dixon line. The South has definitely earned a special place in my heart (alongside my Virginia born and bred fiance, of course!). We are planning a traditional Christian ceremony at my alma mater in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, followed by a rocking reception filled with Southern cooking and vintage/shabby chic details. When we’re not wedding planning, we enjoy spending time with our three dogs, going for runs together, watching plenty of football (or baseball depending on the season), and sampling new wine.
We love Watters and Wtoo for their accessible, feminine style. The Watters Spring 2012 line featured easy movement and light layers, with something for brides of all seasons!
We’re kicking it off with my favorite from the day:

Tule over sparkle made this a close runner up:

The field has been narrowed, and the Weddingbee community has the honor of helping to choose Minted’s newest wedding invitations to add to their fabulous line of stationery!
Minted holds regular design challenges for all their stationery categories, and the top community-voted designs receive top honor of being sold at Minted. Stationery designers, amateur and pro alike, win cash prizes and commissions on their designs. We love Minted’s constantly updated wedding invitation line, and we’re thrilled to help choose the next generation!
Narrowing down the field of 100 to a top 12 was difficult, and we suspect picking one out of these 12 will be even harder (We tried our best to narrow it to a top 10! Impossible!). Check out our favorites, and vote on your favorite below to see it carried in Minted’s wedding invitation shop:

#1 “Giulianna”:

Happy Halloween, hive! We hope you’re getting more treats than tricks, and our own treat today is our newest bee! Say hello to Miss Elk…a soon-to-be M.D. and MRS!

Miss Elk, City: Syracuse/Long Island
Age & Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 25, Computer Engineer
Engagement Date: November 22, 2010
Wedding Date: May 2012
Venue: The Old Field Club
About Me: I’m a Long Island girl finishing my last year of medical school in western NY, on the road to becoming a pediatrician. When I’m not studying or sleeping at the hospital, I spend my free time watching bad TV (Vampire Diaries anyone?), playing with my pooch, singing incredibly off-key (to the annoyance of Mr. Elk ), and reading Harry Potter for the zillionth time. Mr. Elk and I are planning a secular wedding infused with both Irish and cultural Jewish traditions. Only a week after I become an M.D., I will get my Mrs. degree, too!

Hi Hive!
Yesterday many (most) of you noticed that the Weddingbee front page, and parts of the site went down. Two of our three servers went down, and we’ve finally restored full functionality about an hour ago. You should now be able to access the entire Weddingbee site. If not, tech suggests clearing your cache, and that should resolve any broken pages you’re still experiencing.
We’re so, so sorry for the outage! I hardly knew what to do with myself.
If you are still experiencing residual issues from yesterday and today’s outage, please let us know here in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter. We’re here to help in any way we can! Happy Friday, Hive, and enjoy your Halloween weekend!
We’re back and adequately settled in from a fun and long week at Bridal Market! Sleeping 3 hours a night for 6 days in a row is reallllyyyy fun and all (New Yorkers…they like to eat late!) but nothing beats being back home and finally being able to pore through gobs of pictures of beautiful gowns. We didn’t send a photographer this year which means we’ll slowly be gathering images from all our favorite designers, but I would be remiss if I didn’t share with you what I captured on my own camera from the front row of some of my favorite shows from the hive’s favorite designers.
Maggie Sottero is always most beloved around these parts, and it was my first time in my years of attending Market seeing their show. They’ve got some gorgeous gowns that didn’t skimp on the drama. Most featured big, fluffy skirts; a big trend still going strong into spring of next year across virtually all designers…
Enjoy the hive’s very own peek at Maggie Sottero Spring 2012!

I know I always spend every year giving Romona Keveza a little extra love here in the hive…excuse my bias, but she is just one of my all-time favorite designers, not because her lines exude elegance and a fresh take on timeless designs, but because Romona Keveza really listens to her brides.
Romona tells us that every year, she interacts with her brides via Facebook and email to shape her Legends line. Brides tell her what they want, and Romona Keveza delivers. She explains more about how she interacts with real brides during her showing.
I’m excited to share with you an intimate afternoon with Romona. Join me and experience the Legends by Romona Keveza show!
Helllooo! We’re back to round out the finale videos from the runway!
St. Pucchi - A show I would NEVER ever miss at bridal market. The show kicked off with a warning from production staff for everyone to tuck our bags away…designer Rani Totman’s creations take up every inch of the runway with her extravagant designs. St. Pucchi brings the drama year after year, and did not disappoint this year.
Hi Hive! Pengy here, back from New York and reporting live once again from the couch here.
I hope you loved all the snippets of dresses and scenes from New York throughout this week posted to Facebook and Twitter!
Before we wrap our heads around how to deliver all the spring 2012 bridal fashion goodness to the hive, I wanted you all to be able to experience some of the shows as I did, via video! Check out these quick snippets of finale videos I captured from various runway shows. Come along with me to the runway!
Kicking it off with Maggie Sottero - The hive loves Maggie Sottero! Say hayyy if you’re a Maggie bride!

VEGAS, baby! Our newest bee hails from LA and is getting married in Sin City! Say hello and happy Wednesday to Miss Mole!

Miss Mole, Los Angeles/Las Vegas
Age & Occupation: 29, Test Prep Instructor
Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 31, User Experience Architect
Engagement Date: April 2011
Wedding Date: January 2012
Venue: Wynn Las Vegas/Bouchon Bistro
About Me: I’m a Wisconsinite-turned-Angeleno who is planning a destination wedding in Las Vegas. I am passionate about education: I spent 23 (!) consecutive years in school, and now I work to help other people get into graduate programs. I love running on the treadmill, buying bath products from Lush, learning new moves in step aerobics, and exploring my neighborhood on foot. I am sometimes snobby about food, but I am rarely snobby about books. I read everything from Geoffrey Chaucer to Iris Murdoch to Chuck Klosterman to Candace Bushnell. My fiance and I are getting married on our third anniversary. We have lived together in three different states and survived three different moves, including one that was cross-country. We also live with our three year old greyhound, Tom Boonen. Apparently, I should start playing multiples of three on the roulette table. After all, I sure hit it big with my fiance!
Hi all! Just an update to let you know that we’re still covering the shows thru Monday on Twitter and Facebook! Stop in on social media and say hi, and check out all the eye candy!

Hi bees!
By now, you may have seen or heard some of the buzz around DressRush.com, a new site that we are LOVING (and apparently so are you all—the traffic from the post about the Dress Rush Bridesmaids DVD free deal crashed our site!) offering designer wedding products for a fraction of their retail price.
Well, now we have another exciting update to bring to you! DeAnna Pappas, star of ABC’s The Bachelorette, will be picking some of her favorite finds on Dress Rush to share at exclusive discounts only for Weddingbee readers!

“I am so excited to be the first celebrity stylist for Dress Rush, and I am thrilled to be sharing my top picks and my favorite fashion finds with Weddingbee readers!”

Nor Cal in the house! Say hello to our newest bee, Miss Doe!

Miss Doe, Northern California
Age & Occupation: 24, Real Estate Assistant
Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 23, Recycling Manager
Engagement Date: December 25, 2010
Wedding Date: May 2012
Venue: Monte Verde Inn
About Me: I’m a Rat Pack fan and a Christmas nut that loves to read, good wine, cheesy ’80s movies and ’90s sitcoms. My wiener dog with an attitude problem and lazy basset hound are my constant source of entertainment. He’s a hunter and I like cooking so it’s not rare to see wild game on our dinner menu. Both of us were born and raised in a small historic farming town where our feet are still firmly planted. We have been together for nearly a decade and have shared many life experiences together, including birthdays that are only one day apart. We are two old souls that are creating our long-awaited wedding with loads of tradition that blends our two styles into rustic elegance in the foothills of Northern California.
