Dear Hive:How awful of me. I stopped posting back in April without so much as a proper goodbye (so this is it). But so much was going on. Since my wedding in March, I chopped off my long locks (yay!)…

To be frank, the connection between our candy table and our Monopoly theme went over some of our guests’ heads (I blame myself entirely for not coming up with a more clever sign for the table). Nevertheless, the candy itself wasn’t overlooked, and in my book, that made it a hit regardless.

I’m not sure we were entirely successful pulling off our Monopoly theme…when I think of the elements now they seem to yes, come together in some way, though perhaps not as boldly as they could have. That is the balance anyone trying to work in a theme struggles with I suppose: making it cohesive while not overpowering. We tried to make the best of it…

Ah, formal pictures: the cornerstone of wedding photography!

The writer in each of us just sometimes goes missing. You want to piece together the most beautiful ceremony, but don’t know where to start. Don’t worry: we weren’t creative cats either. And the ranunculus. And the peonies. Thought I would interrupt my chronological wedding recap posts to bring you some of the loveliest details from our wedding: the flowers. They’ll make appearances in future posts, but they deserve top billing once before. After all, I just about died and went to heaven when I saw my bouquet.

If you’ve gone out of your way to purchase a card to accompany your groom’s gift, as I had done, ordering a letterpress one online, I recommend putting it on your remember to-pack-for-day-of list. I only wore my veil for the ceremony and our formal shots (where the wind kicked it around like a kite in flight, argh). I do wish though that I would have worn it longer. It’s like some mystical shroud you’d really only wear on the day of your wedding, and that alone seems to make it special.

I can’t say enough how happy I was that I went with my gut feeling and bought a second dress, drama and all. I love that baby. Girls: take your time finding the gown you love! And if you can, choose someone near and dear to help you put it on. It wouldn’t have been the same getting dressed that day without my girl’s help:
