And the ranunculus. And the peonies. Thought I would interrupt my chronological wedding recap posts to bring you some of the loveliest details from our wedding: the flowers. They’ll make appearances in future posts, but they deserve top billing once before. After all, I just about died and went to heaven when I saw my bouquet.

If you’ve gone out of your way to purchase a card to accompany your groom’s gift, as I had done, ordering a letterpress one online, I recommend putting it on your remember to-pack-for-day-of list. I suppose there are more important things I could have left behind, like our rings, but forgetting the card at home meant I had to do a late-night CVS run on the eve of our wedding. It could have been worse. I got lucky and found one of those new musical ones that played “I Walk the Line,” and Mr. Petunia is a BIG Johny Cash fan:

I still think the original idea for my something blue would have been super-cute, but there was no need for it in the end, since at my last fitting, my girl Tania at the bridal salon surprised me with these:
How sweet are these? Blue bustle buttons! I never would have thought of it myself!

I only wore my veil for the ceremony and our formal shots (where the wind kicked it around like a kite in flight, argh). I do wish though that I would have worn it longer. It’s like some mystical shroud you’d really only wear on the day of your wedding, and that alone seems to make it special. Read more…

I can’t say enough how happy I was that I went with my gut feeling and bought a second dress, drama and all. I love that baby. Girls: take your time finding the gown you love! And if you can, choose someone near and dear to help you put it on. It wouldn’t have been the same getting dressed that day without my girl’s help: Read more…

There are many girls out there who can do wonders to themselves with a brush and a mascara wand: but I’m not one of them. I barely ever even wear make-up, as purely evident I’m sure from my many “regular” photos on this blog, and I always just throw my hair back in a pony tail. That’s why I knew I’d need a village if I wanted to end up looking anything like this on wedding day:

Our professional photos are ready to make their appearance (much love to our rock star photographers over at Lux Images for the pics I’ll be posting over the next few days)!First up are our “ring shots” — I didn’t even know these were must-have shots until I started stalking photographers’ blogs myself.
It’s funny to see what ring photos say about a couple, no? Ours seem to say we’re technology-lovin’ game freaks (an accurate representation, I’d say). Props go to my husband for upgrading me to the pink Nintendo DS for the wedding. The man thought I’d like a little Wario Ware Touched action while I got my pretty on, and if so, the DS needed to match our color scheme. Oh yeah, he’s good…

By far, the highlight of our honeymoon was our Grand Canyon adventure. Based on a recommendation from The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas 2008, we purchased our package online through Best Tours LV and opted for the big momma of all their tours, one that combined airplane, helicopter, boat and bus transportation (and will run you about $300 a person, every single dollar worth it).
The whole shebang began with transportation from the hotel to the Boulder City airport via private van. The ride takes about 30 minutes, and after that, you climb into one of these babies for another 30 minute ride (admittingly not the most comfortable of your life):

So Vegas afforded us not only a faux Paris trip, but a faux Venice one, too. The Venetian is such a masterpiece that it absolutely inspired us to take a real Venice trip one day, when we have the time and can afford it. After all, I’m guessing that if the façade alone in Vegas is this romantic, there must be no words for the real thing.

Okay, I can at least identify your everyday Borg or Vulcan, but I don’t know enough to tell the difference between a Bajoran and a Cardassian. Mr. Petunia, bless his soul, can tell them all apart, and did when we indulged our geekiness with a visit to the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. Read more…
