Mr. Petunia and I are obsessed with all things World of Warcraft, Monopoly, and Nintendo, so we’re planning on including some fun “game-y” details into our wedding.
And I mean Me’s and not Mii’s, though if Mr. Petunia had his choice, our wedding cake would look like a Nintendo Wii and our cake topper people would be shaped like our Nintendo avatars instead of our real selves in wedding dress and tux!I present you, albeit in a poorly lit picture, our Nicole Clark cake topper!

I heart Betsy Dunlap. I’ve never met the woman in person, but I can’t help feeling that if I lived in the same city as she does, we’d be friends — that’s how personable she comes across in email alone. If not, I’d at least like to be her neighbor, and then I’d bake her cupcakes so I could bribe her into writing out everything for me, even my checks. I mean, the woman’s writing is that letter perfect, so when this sample came in the mail, I fell in love immediately, and there was no question left about who’d be addressing our wedding invitations after that:

Remember all those beautiful ketubot I blogged about last month? Well, one thing I’m learning day by day as part of the wedding planning process is that Mr. Petunia and I don’t always agree on what we like. I knew which ketubot I loved, but when I ordered the samples and had Mr. Petunia looked at them too, I quickly learned which ones he didn’t love - sigh. It took a bit of going back and forth and getting some new samples before we finally agreed on this simple and classic one and ordered it:

Can I tell y’all what a relief it was to finally receive the package containing our letterpress invitations? These babies were shipped from Canada and it seems they were being held somewhat captive by customs because of the holiday backlog… I had already turned into a nervous wreck thinking they would never reach me safely!
First let me tell everyone that Holly Hatam of TearDrop Weddings was a patient saint working with me long distance throughout the entire design process. She was also a true darling, including in our package one of the invitations in this floating frame. What a thoughtful gift, especially during the holiday season! (click images to enlarge)

Yay! We just ordered our aisle runner… and if you do, too, here’s a coupon good for the month of December:

I hadn’t really wanted to spend the extra money on a second hair and make-up trial, but in the end, it was well worth it! I was much happier with the results I got and it was great fun working with the team from the SoBe Makeup Studio!
Remember my first trial? This second time, the make-up was much softer and pretty darn close to what I asked for:

Ooh la la! — my shower invitation arrived this Saturday! That means if I received mine, so must have everyone else invited and that’s just one more reminder that the wedding is that much closer!
I just love the 2-part invitation! Here is how the invitation comes as ordered:

What a joy to get the rest of our engagement pictures this week — no doubt, they have been the best part of our wedding preparations so far: and to think we almost skipped them (thinking we didn’t have the time, did we really need them?, etc.)…
Thanks readers for letting me share some more of these! Again, credit goes to Ricardo Serpa (as well as his amazing team) of Lux Images, who is as kind as he is talented! (click on any image to enlarge)

I won’t lie: I’m a bit torn about my hair & make-up trial. I thought things would go smoothly for sure since the person doing it was the same person who had done my hair & make-up for my b-pics and I had been extremely happy with those results. But you tell me — here’s my before picture (goodness I could use some make-up!):

On this week after Thanksgiving, I must give great thanks for our photographer Ricardo Serpa of Lux Images. I can’t begin to tell everyone what an amazing and fun time we had shooting our e-pics at the county fair last week! And Ricardo worked some fast magic and processed some of these images basically overnight so that Mr. Petunia’s eyes and mine had something to feast on over Thanksgiving (sorry I haven’t been able to post until today!).Hope you love them as much as we do: here they are, without further fan”fair”:

We really wanted to go to Paris, France on our honeymoon. Really, really, really. But we’re starting to think that may just not be possible for us. When we go to Paris, we really want to do it right. We’d like to stay in a nice hotel, go out to eat in fancy restaurants, and preferably fly non-stop. But I can’t seem to get a decent air fare for the life of me. Every time I check, flights are going for anywhere between $800-$1200 per person, and when we checked with our travel agent, we were told this was just going to get worse, in part because of the fuel surcharges the airlines have been and will continue to be charging (fuel costs being what they are these days).

The final decision on our linens has been made — Green? Pink? Heck, why not both?I went ahead and chose an iridescent crushed satin sorbet tablecloth that looks pink sometimes and green others, depending from which angle one looks at it. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to tell from these pictures, but the first two are meant to show more the pink side of it, while the third picture reflects the green more.

I don’t think it says so necessarily anywhere that you have to get your bridal shower hostess anything, but honestly, I can’t imagine not doing so for the women hosting mine: they’ve been working so hard for my upcoming one in January, and frankly, I know they have spent way too much money on it, too.
I blogged before of my idea for a gift for them: I’d come across this Archipelago Botanicals candle (I now know also sold at Nordstrom). I love how it comes with a removable brooch and how the box is lined with velvet and can be used later to store things, if you’d like:

J. Crew is the crew I’m rolling with. Why? Aside from selling my all-time favorite basic tees (in both short sleeve, long sleeve, and 3/4 sleeve options: I live in these!), who knew they’d also provide me with my wedding shoes, and on sale too?
