I’ve been thinking a lot about flowers for my wedding lately. I love the idea of fresh flowers. I love flowers. I would love to have flowers at my wedding. Big problem: they’re crazy expensive. Especially for one day of use.
Another problem with fresh flowers is that not very many come in blue, which just happens to be my main wedding color. I know there are hydrangeas, but they’re really not my style. I know flowers can be dyed, but I just don’t think they look as pretty when it’s not natural. Plus I want to DIY my flowers, and if I use fresh, I would have to do them last minute before the wedding. And I’m trying to avoid projects like that (other than my cake, of course).
(Here’s a hint…I found it here!)
Since I hadn’t found the one at my first stop, I decided I’d head to David’s Bridal on my next day off to try on some of their dresses. I’d read that it’d be better to go during the week when they’re less busy so you can get more individual attention. I set my appointment for 11:30 am and could barely sleep I was so excited to try more dresses on.
I arrived at the shop promptly at 11:30 am, and they had me fill out a little form with my basic information. I spent a little time describing what I was imagining for my wedding and wedding dress, and then I got to look through the aisles of dresses and choose which ones I liked best. Are you ready to see what I picked out?!?! I am!!!

This was by far the part I was looking most forward to in the whole wedding planning process. I’ve always loved wedding dresses. I’ve still got pictures I ripped out of wedding magazine probably 12 years ago saved away in a file.
I was looking at Unbridaled, a local bridal shop’s, inventory online and found the most beautiful dress in the whole world. The shop mostly carries dresses for the nontraditional bride. This particular dress is part of Modern Trousseau’s 2010 collection. It’s called the Macey dress. I love love love it!

After seeing many other brides write newsletters for their bridesmaids I decided this was a must-do on my to-do list. So, I designed and wrote my first newsletter. It took most of the day, but luckily I had the whole day free to play around with it. I think it came out rather nice.
It seemed important for me to do because all my bridesmaids live far from me and far from each other. It served as a way to keep in touch with the projects I’m working on as well as getting to know each other.
I’ve written two more since then, and plan on writing one more about a month before the wedding.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how I made my newsletter:

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
From the beginning, I’ve always wanted to make my own invitations, Save the Dates, everything. I figured I’d start small and make some “Will you be my Bridesmaid” cards. I think they turned out pretty cute. Here’s how I did it:
I went to Archiver’s and picked out some pre-made cards. I got dark blue circles, white flower shaped circles and white envelopes. I also picked out a pretty flower stamp and some red ink.
Ten bucks for anyone who can tell me what movie I just quoted!
Well, hello ladies of the hive! I am so so so excited to be here blogging on Weddingbee!
I found Weddingbee a couple months before I was even engaged and dreamed of being a bee instantly. Unfortunately, I had to wait many months before I could even apply. I’m gonna let you in on a little secret now: this is the fourth time I’ve applied. I know what you’re thinking, ‘good lord, that’s a lot of applications.’ Well I don’t like to give up. Each time I got rejected I’d get angry and then almost instantly want to make my blog even better and apply again. What can I say, I’m incorrigible.

Anyways, a little about me:
