When the girls and I arrived at our venue, it was a little like a mad dash. Our photographer was ready and waiting, and we still had a few last minute projects to set up. So while Sam photographed some details of the day, the bridesmaids and I ran around the venue making sure everything was ready.
After a few rushed moments, everything was perfect, and it was time to get into my dress.

OK ladies, our wedding photos are scheduled to be ready tomorrow (WOOOHOOO!), which means that we can pick up where we left off with the Powder Puff recaps next week. Holla!
In the mean time, I thought I’d throw my two cents in about an issue that I’ve seen being debated around the hive: the first look.
When Mr. Puffy and I were freshly engaged, the very first thing we did was to promptly hire an amazing photographer. At our first meeting, she asked whether or not we’d be interested in doing a first look. Little old me, who had yet to discover the wonders of Weddingbee, had no clue what that was. After she explained it to me, I was immediately against it. ‘No way!’ I thought. ‘I’m sticking with tradition. Nothing can be as special as that moment when Mr. Powder Puff sees me walking down the aisle! We’ll just do photos between the ceremony and reception.’
As our wedding date loomed closer, I began to worry about this plan. Since our ceremony and reception were being held at the same location, we had only scheduled an hour to complete all the photos. Eek! An hour would be no where near enough time! Exit, calm. Enter, panic.
With about one week till the ceremony, I finally relented. I spoke with Mr. Powder Puff, and we agreed that having a first look would be the most practical way to go. And let me tell you, I am SO GLAD we made that decision. Here’s why: Read more…

‘Now wait a gosh darn minute,’ you may be thinking to yourself. ‘We’ve talked all about what the girls were doing the morning of the wedding. Where on earth were the guys?’ Well, wonder no more my friends, because pictures have surfaced of the elusive boys’ time on the morning of the wedding. And I am here to share them all with you. So where were the boys? On a boat. Fishing, smoking cigars, and drinking scotch. Yep, nothing says “it’s 8:30 in the morning” like scotch and cigars. Let me explain. My dad, ever the host, felt the need to arrange some sort of entertainment for interested peeps on the morning of the wedding. So, he chartered a boat and took Mr. Powder Puff, two groomsmen, my brother, and Sister Powder Puff’s boyfriend out on a fishing adventure.

Well, we’re kind of in a holding period, folks. I have recapped all I can of the hours before our photographer arrived, and in order to continue down the yellow-brick road of recaps, I have to wait until our pro photos are ready. Yes, I have non-pro photos, but I want to share the experience with you through the fabulous lens of Shutter Sam. It’s the only way to fly!
Soooo, I thought that while we’re twiddling our thumbs, patiently waiting, I would share some details with you that I didn’t have the chance to write about before the big day.
Let’s start with our ceremony!
Mr. Powder Puff and I had one final meeting with our pastor for our last premarital counseling session, and during that time we planned out our ceremony. I had always always always wanted use traditional vows, but when Pastor Ron presented us with his ceremony overview, with beautiful vows that he wrote himself, I couldn’t say no!
The ceremony was very traditional, with some elements that Pastor Ron felt very strongly about. An example? After my dad walked me down the aisle, and he declared that he and Mama Powder Puff were giving me to Mr. Powder Puff as his wife, my dad took my hand from his arm and placed it into Mr. Powder Puff’s hand. Pastor Ron really appreciated to symbolism of that moment, and as such it became an important moment to us.

The morning of the wedding I woke up and was completely calm. All the butterflies of the week fluttered away, and I was left with a feeling of peace and a spark of “hells to the yeah, it’s my wedding day”!!! It was an incredibly gorgeous day outside (no thanks to you, weatherman!), and I could not wait for what was to come.
After showering, lounging for a bit, and getting my daily recommended dose of caffeine, my bridesmaids and some family started to arrive. It was time to get gorgeous!
My cousin’s lovely wife, Stefanie, agreed to get us looking fabulous, and wasted no time getting started.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions and comments about my bridesmaids’ fabulous dresses, so I thought I’d take a quick little break from my recaps to let you know how that look all came together.
It was basically born out of laziness. I knew that I did not have the desire or the energy to pick out a dress for my girls that they would all like, and even want to wear again. So instead, I passed the buck to them! Read more…

The evening before our wedding I was a bundle of nerves. The weatherman had been teasing me all week—rain on Saturday, no rain, thunderstorms on Friday—gaahhh! All day Friday I was watching the skies, searching for clouds. But despite the weatherman’s reports, the evening was beautiful, and we didn’t get rained out. Which is fortunate, because we had no back-up plan. Eek!
Once at the venue, our fabulous officiant, Pastor Ron, explained the ceremony to us and walked us through the motions.
Please disregard the gazebo decor. There was another wedding that evening that finished riiiight before we were supposed to start. Cutting it close, Powder Puff style.

So, our fabulous photographer, Samantha Vanderlist of Shutter Sam promised us a few teasers this week. And boy, did she ever deliver! I’m obsessed with these bad boys. Since I love you all so much, I thought I’d share them with you. You can savor them, like a fine cognac, or you can gulp them down, like frat boys at a kegger. Either way, they go down smooooth.

Has anyone else seen adorable photos of girls with fake mustaches? Photos like this one:
Well, I’ve fallen head over heels in love with the idea. And when I get something in my head, I MUST DO IT. So after a fruitless search for little fake mustaches for me and my bridesmaids, I decided that if no one was making these things, then I would make them for myself. There’s more than one way to skin a cat, after all! Read more…

Something shocking happened the other day. Mr. Powder Puff asked for my help picking a first dance song.
As some of you may or may not remember, the mister was completely gung ho about picking our first dance as a surprise for me. But apparently the pressure got to the poor man. After my mother called to let him know that the DJ needed to know our first dance, he shut himself into our second bedroom for a couple of hours, only to emerge a little while later and sheepishly ask, “Will you help me pick a song? I can’t decide!”
Poor guy.
After a scroll through my iTunes, we decided on this little beauty:
