It doesn’t take one of those annoying applications on Facebook to tell me which Friends character I am.
*looks up from polishing her vacuum*
All I need to do is to look into my drawers and see my kitchen towels organized by occasion and my utensils sorted according to meal type and frequency of use… or hear the resounding choruses of “NO!”s when I ask if anybody wants to play Monopoly with me.
(so I take pictures when I’m winning by a landslide - I’m not competitive, I just like to …ummm…yeah I have no excuse. ) Read more…

Sweetness and light. Cotton candied–confectionary goodness - a wedding so sugary that guests would leave with aching abscesses along with their favors….My original vision for our 1950s-inspired wedding revolved around pastels. Now, I love pastels as much as, or more than, any retailer of baby goods, and for my wedding it seemed only natural to incorporate my favorited faded shades:

No one ever said that planning a vintage wedding would be easy.
This is especially true when planning a 1950s wedding; searching on the internet can be daunting, and downright depressing when forums continually suggest “poodle skirts” and “leather jackets” a la Grease as the only “vintage” option.

I - like- drop-veils
and I can not lie
You other brides can’t deny
That when a bride walks by with a super sweet gown
Piece of tulle all up on her crown
You get sprung
Wanna plunk some dough
Cuz that veil gave her a blushin’ bride glow
don’t got one so I’m despairin’
I’m hooked and I can’t stop starin’
Gotta choose one
gotta refuse some

Last week, for ten blissfully “back to normal” days, my younger sister/best friend/ MOH visited Mr. Shortcake and I in Winnipeg (a.ka. Not My Home). It was so lovely to have her visit, not only because my homesickness temporarily abated somewhat, but because I finally had someone with whom I could to “do wedding-y stuff.”

Like Miss Robin, I am planning to wear a cardigan over my wedding gown during the reception, as it’s being held outdoors (though under a heated tent) in October, in Canada, and my circulation is below par at the best of times.
A cardigan is cozy, cuddly, warm, and just a touch “retroriffic” - perfect for dancing (it won’t slip down like a shawl), and perfect for me. I picked up a couple of the new GAP cardigans for spring, and on my latest trip to Stella’s Bridal Galleria, I tried them on with the sample of my wedding gown.
