Or, “How Bogart-Style Turned Out to Be Completely Bogus”
Well, I hope you’re happy, Agnes. That lovely, dreamy, steamy look won’t be conjuring up any images of martinis, shaken OR stirred, at our wedding after all. The white dinner jacket-black pants-black bow tie ensemble that we all fell so hard for, looked completely different on a body other than Bond’s…
Quick Side Note:
Mr. Shortcake was such a doll to let me dress him up when we visited the local Moore’s for Men during our trip home to B.C. Such a doll - and such a HAM:
I’m tempted to start starching and ironing his dress shirt collars just to see that face again! Read more…

Truth or Dare. Nail polish fumes. Flying brushes and a flurry of bobby pins. Sugar highs - and sugar headaches. Popcorn-covered couches. Crumpled up kleenexes and snotty sleeves.
Sounds good, right?
Due to *ahem* scheduling difficulties on Mr. Shortcake’s side of the family, our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner have been bumped back to the Wednesday evening before our Saturday wedding. As my bridesmaids would have to make a separate trip for these events, we decided to plan a little bridesmaid-bride bonding activity for immediately after the dinner.

Seeing the pictures of St. George’s Parish online gave such a different impression than seeing it in person…
Mr. Shortcake and I are completely in love with our tiny, pre-(BC)-historic church. Or should I say chapel? The church is TINY!
(The Family Shortcake, circa, the Jurassic Era. Do you see the lanky Miss Shortcake on the very right? Awkward! Awkward! Aughh, the pubertal angst!!)
Just joking. But that Drumheller church does bear striking resemblance to our real one: Read more…

My great love, (besides Mr. Shortcake, Harvey, my family, pink, baked goods, gardening, sparkles, etc ) is music. I sing (too much), and strum my father’s beautiful and old 1969 guitar when the mood strikes, but my real love is and has always been the piano.

Well, I’m back from British Columbia! My trip home was fabulous, and I feel ready and raring to tackle the rest of our wedding projects now. Being away and isolated from loved ones for nine months can do bad things to a girl, so I’m surprised and happy to report that I’m happy again.

When my hair stylist and “friend” of five years double-booked my wedding day (with a more lucrative wedding offer several hundred miles away, no less), I was crushed. It felt like a slap in the face, especially because he told me only a couple of days before my only trip to Vancouver.
Because this was the only trip we would be taking before the wedding, it left me scrambling to find a replacement hairdresser that was available not only for a trial on short notice, but was also available to do 6+ updos on the morning of the wedding.
My mother booked a trial with a salon and spa near her house, and armed with the following images and a faint hope that everything would be alright, I set off yesterday morning.

Well, in T-minus-too-few-hours, we’ll officially be off to Vancouver! Thank you once again for all your support, and for all your suggestions for accomplishing my 9-day-tour-of-wedding-duties!
Mr. Shortcake and I are both soooo excited to see our families, not only because it’s been almost a year since we saw their sweet faces, but also because we can finally celebrate becoming engaged!
Our furbaby, Harvey, a “shit-poo-poo” (shih tzu pomeranian toy poodle), is very excited as well.
He has been talking non-stop on the phone with his Nana (not staged, he actually has full on growfling/barking conversations with her if I put my mom on speakerphone ) Read more…
