Y’all I’mma fixin’ to get up on my soapbox. And it might get ugly.
I’ve gone the easy route for everything wedding related so far. Let the girls pick the dresses, casual dress code for the dudes, and scribbled addresses on the invites. So for God’s sakes quit asking me why we haven’t registered at Macy’s. Read more…

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while, but I was sure that once the wedding got closer, it would no longer be relevant. That hasn’t happened, so here goes.
We’re less than two weeks out to the wedding. In addition to schlepping bread to farmers’markets five days a week, babysitting three, and helping out another pastry chef as needed, I’m also supposed to be getting bride brain. Or so I’ve heard. When I do have a few moments that aren’t devoted to sleep or sneaking in a quick sesh at the climbing gym, I’ve shopped for two awesome Halloween costumes. And last night I carved a pumpkin.

Actually, Mr. Skunk carved (word up y’all, if you want your mister to join you in cheesy holiday traditions, get power tools involved) while I looked on giggling in excitement.
I keep getting asked if I’m stressed or nervous. Read more…

Our pastor requires that we meet with him a few times before the big day, but with Mr. Skunk in Madison, we’re just now getting around to it. Our pastor is actually my best friend and MOH L. Bug’s dad so I’ve known him, trusted him, and thought of him as my second dad for all of my life. I was worried it would be a little awkward, but this week we had our first session and it was actually really insightful.
For the most part, everything he asked about, we had already discussed. Finances, kids, alone time. We had it covered. And then he asked, “So why marriage? Why now?”

I wish I had cute handwriting a la Mrs. Seashell. Everyone I talked to spoke about how easy it was just to buy a calligraphy pen and go to town. There was always the ’tracing’ method. And my fiance left me a Leroy Lettering Set before he left for Madison. I opened this thing and almost started crying for all the pieces and confusion! Turns out it’s some sort of drafting tool that will probably sit under my bed until we decide to move.

In addition to the super awesome gifts I have planned for my ladies, I’m also paying to have their hair done by my awesome stylist. I’ve been going to see Becca since I first moved in town and haven’t seen anyone since. She’s seriously amaze balls.
I sent a quick email to everyone to find out what they want so that I could give Becca an idea on timing. BM C. Bear and C. Koala want their hair down in loose curls with either a half french braid or just some pieces pulled back.
BM L. Bug is smitten with low messy buns. You know the ones that look like you just effortlessly rolled out of bed with an amazing thrown together bun, but in reality sat in a stylists chair for over an hour? Yea. Those. I’m kinda smitten too. Read more…

I’m giving Mr. Skunk two gifts. I’m fairly certain he knows what one of them is because he’s seen the box. The other is to throw him off. I’ll discuss the latter first. Read more…

Growing up, a good part of my raising was done by my grandmother. She would pick me up from school and watch me until my mom got off work. She was my hero, my rock, and my biggest cheerleader. She taught me how to read before I was five. I learned how to make biscuits in her kitchen. A lot of who I am is based on who she made me.
During the summer of 2007, I was part of a study program that had me studying first in Georgia, then in New York, and finally in London. While I was still in Georgia those first three weeks, I drove back and forth forty five minutes almost everyday to spend time with my Mamaw while she was in hospice. I knew what hospice meant, but when it came time for me to leave for New York, I had assumed that I would see my grandmother when I finally got back from London several weeks later. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be the case. While walking through SOHO, I got the call. I was a complete mess in the middle of the sidewalk. No matter how prepared you are, the death of someone close always hits hard.
Thinking about her and her absence at our wedding makes me cry every time, but I know if she saw me now, she would be proud.

It’s near ’bout that time! Just thirty-one days. I could jump up and down!
In less that a week, Mr. Skunk will officially be home from Madison. I feel like we’ve hit the calm before the storm. Almost everything is done. We just need to get organized.
Oh, and get our marriage license.
Oh, and figure out what Mr. Skunk is wearing.
Oh, and figure out our first dance song.
Like I said, calm before the storm.
I can’t wait to marry Mr. Skunk but I’m just as excited to experience these next few weeks.
Anyone else at the one month mark? What’re you up to with wedding plans?

When I was still an un-engaged bee lurking ’round these parts, I saw Mrs. Cola post this about her guestbook and immediately fell in love. I just saw that this post was from over a year before I was engaged. I may or may not be blushing…this waiting bee was antsy in her pantsy. Don’t judge!
Anyways, I knew we would have to do this. Over the years, my mom and I have panned all up and down the Chestatee River and in addition to gold flecks an small garnet nuggets, we collected lots of river rocks. Don’t tell DNR on us!!! We’re finally putting them to good use by having our guests write little messages on them. At the ceremony, we’ll have them place their finished rocks in one of two of these. Read more…

End of story, no questions asked, I’m a daddy’s girl. My dad is my rock and I love him so incredibly much. I thought picking out our daddy/daughter dance song was going to be really hard since I wanted it to be absolutely perfect. But really, a song came on the radio that was perfect and put me in tears. That was that.
My dad likes to joke that the scar on my back is from where they had to remove my wings because Earth wasn’t ready for an angel like me. Cheesy, I know. I barf a little when I hear it too. But it’s okay ’cause it’s coming from my daddy. Read more…

Makeup on the big day is a given. And I’ve taken y’all’s concerns into mind and visited the MAC counter for a nice little consultation. But honestly, my real beauty concerns can’t be fixed with makeup.
First of all, I have constant bloodshot eyes. I won’t gross you out with pictures of my eyes, but I’m consistently asked if I’m getting enough sleep. After a visit to the eye doctor, I was given a prescription for an incredibly expensive eye drop. While I can’t afford the prescription right now, my remedy for the time being will be lots of glasses wearing, lots of sleep, and a supply of Visine for Contacts on the big day.
