Several months prior to our wedding day, I couldn’t wait for it to be over with. Not because I was ready for it to be over with, but because I couldn’t wait to chop my hair off. I did just that on Saturday, less than two weeks after our big day, on my 24th birthday.

Our honeymoon, in two words, was amazing and exhausting. We ate so much delicious food, climbed more stairs than imaginable, and saw some of the most beautiful places. While our honeymoon was a dream come true, I am so happy to be home, drinking a Mountain Dew, as my dogs snuggle next to me.
Soon I will share photos and stories from our honeymoon with you all, but I am silly and want to post them in order, after our wedding recaps. Not to leave you empty handed, here are a few teasers from our wedding:

Our wedding, in one word, was perfect. A few months ago, a coworker of mine told me that the baker gave her the wrong wedding cake, her mantilla was placed on inside-out, and the bottom of her dress was filthy prior to the ceremony, but that her day was still perfect. I thought she was crazy. I couldn’t understand how her day was still perfect with those mishaps. Read more…

With our wedding only three days away, I have been preparing my skin, teeth, and hair to look and feel their best on the big day. I’m certain that I will spend the evening talking to and hugging a lot of guests, and really, who wants to hug a dry-skinned bride? That being said, I thought I’d share the products I have been using. The best part? They are all inexpensive items you can get at your local drug store.
My skin requires the most preparation, as it gets extremely dry and dull. The two products that have been my skin’s saviors are St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Johnson’s Softlotion. St. Ives Apricot Scrub is in one word, amazing. The scrub removes dull, dead skin cells and leaves my skin feeling smooth. After the scrub, I use Johnson’s Softlotion, which moisturizes and hydrates my skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

Up until a few weeks ago, I didn’t want to have a bachelorette party. You see, I’m the girl who is in bed before 10 every night. Going out isn’t usually my idea of fun; however, I decided that I might as well go out, and have a good time with the girls. Let’s just say that I had a good time, and then some.
The night started off at my sister’s house, where everyone met for food, drinks, and a Pleasure Party. Upon entry, each girl was given a “dog bone” (as one girl thought they were) lei, and big faux diamond rings.

From the moment I laid eyes on tissue paper pomanders, I knew I wanted to make them for our aisle decor. The pomanders reminded me of tissue paper carnations I made as a child. My mom still has a bouquet of tissue paper circles crinkled atop pipe cleaners that I gave her for Mother’s Day well over a decade ago. Last week, I relived my childhood, as my mom and I made hundreds of tissue paper carnations. We then turned the carnations into pomanders.
If you too would like to make tissue paper pomanders, I’ve put together a little tutorial: Read more…

Mr. Spring Roll and I are one step away from officially becoming husband and wife. Last week we made the trip to the Clerk of the Circuit Court, and walked out with our license to marry.
I was, and still am, surprised at how easy it is to get a marriage license. Read more…

Initially, Mr. Spring Roll and I agreed not to exchange wedding day gifts, as a way to save money. However, I couldn’t resist the excitement of an exchange, and admitted so to Mr. Spring Roll. So, the exchange was a go, but there was one little problem: I had no idea what to get my groom.
You see, Mr. Spring Roll is a man who has everything. What could I possibly get for the man who has everything? I could go *NSYNC on him, and bring him my love, but I can’t wrap up my love. So, I did the next best thing, and made him a photo book with 100 reasons why I love him.

As you may recall, I had an okay hair and not-so-great makeup trial over a month ago. No need to fear though, because sister Spring Roll came to my rescue and agreed to do my hair on the big day. This week we finally had the same day off work, and did a trial run.
Initially, I wanted to wear my hair up the entire day; but after getting my new veil, I decided to wear my hair down for the ceremony, then up for the reception.
(Don’t be scared, I don’t have any make-up on, this was not my make-up trial) Read more…

Amazing, huh? After seeing the photo, I had to have a photo like that. There was one little catch though: there was no way that I was going to pay over forty dollars for a painted paper parasol. So, I did what I do best, and made one for under ten dollars. Read more…

The title tells no lie; I am in fact, a veil cheater. It started off innocent, looking at pictures of other veils. I couldn’t help myself; the beautiful lace, the length, the fullness.

Now more than ever, I have noticed that there are plenty of ways to politely decline an invitation to a wedding. You see, during the past few weeks we have received several polite declines.
Unfortunately, a polite decline is still a decline, and in my case, it still hurts. I understand that not every guest can attend, but with each “sends regret” box checked, my heart sinks a little. It especially hurts when a decline is a decline without reason. You see, our RSVP cards included a place for guests to leave us a note; many declined without a note, without reason. I was secretly hoping for guests to explain their decline. Overall, I am very grateful that we have family and friends attending, but I can’t help feeling rejected by many.
How do you/did you deal with RSVP rejection?

I’ve found myself yet again getting sucked into wedding trends. First it was the candy buffet. Then, wearing two veils (a veil and a hair flower, in my case). Now, I have fallen for the signature drinks trend.
While signature drinks are trendy, they are also very budget friendly and user friendly. Instead of stocking a whole bar, we will only have to provide the ingredients for the signature drinks, along with wine, beer, and soda. Additionally, the bartender will only have to make a few types of drinks, and the guests will hopefully have an easier time choosing a drink.
Mr. Spring Roll and I have decided to offer three signature drinks: the perfect pear, the blushing bride, and… well, we are still deciding on a third choice. Read more…

Growing up, my mom always called me a “camera ham”. I loved being in front of the camera, and still do.
Hamming it up in the mid-’80s
As you can imagine, our wedding day will be no different. To ensure that all of our camera hamming moments are captured, we recently hired a second shooter. In addition to a second shooter, Mr. Spring Roll’s uncle (our primary photographer) has asked us to compile a list of must have photos.
