As you may recall, I had amazing guests and games at my bridal shower this past weekend. However, I didn’t tell you about the other two G’s: grub and gifts!
For as long as I can remember, sister Spring Roll and I have loved to bake and cook. We even took a cooking class together in high school. How does that relate to my shower, you ask? Well, we spent the night before and the morning of my bridal shower in the kitchen. Gladly so, as the guests really enjoyed the food.

Sister Spring Roll hosted my bridal shower last Sunday. Yes, Super Bowl Sunday. Despite the fact that my shower was on the same day as the big game, a great group of guests came.
Guests included co-workers, friends, and Mr. Spring Roll’s family. Since most guests did not know one another, we all donned name tags to familiarize ourselves. Additionally, sister Spring Roll had us play a game that she called an “ice breaker”. Each guest came up with two truths and one lie about themselves, and the other guests had to guess which was the lie.

As you may recall, back in September, I fell in love with my wedding dress and purchased a new one. I could have taken the store’s dress home that day, but I wanted a sparkly new one for my big day.
Unfortunately, when you order a new dress, it takes a while to arrive. I was told that I would receive a phone call at the beginning of January to pick up my dress. Well, the beginning of January came and passed, and I hadn’t receive a call. Worried, I phoned David’s Bridal last week, to hear “your dress has been here for weeks, and Debra’s is here too”. A few things are wrong with this scenario: First, my sister’s name is Deidre, not Debra. Second, why didn’t she or I receive calls when our dresses arrived. I fought the urge to go Bridezilla, and thanked the lady. After all, our dresses had arrived safely and were ready to come home with us.

As I gave a sigh of relief and a wave goodbye, Mr. Spring Roll placed our invitations in the outgoing mailbox at the Post Office. And with that, they’re off; hopefully making it to their destinations within the next couple of days.
Remember when I asked for help choosing our invitation’s belly band? After reading everyone’s great advice, I decided to use the monogram band. I absolutely loved the bow, but didn’t want to run into any problems with smooshed bows and increased postage. Read more…

Back when Mr. Spring Roll and I first became engaged, I started a wedding website at MyWedding. You see, I started, and well, never quite finished. No big deal, right? Wrong. We included the website information in our invitations, and with t-minus two days until they are to be mailed, I had to finish the website.

“Dee,” I yelled every morning from our shared bathroom, “can you please put my hair up?”
“This is the last time,” she replied, day after day. As she put my hair up, she would rub in my visible makeup lines. Without Sister Spring Roll, I would have spent many days with a bumpy, crooked ponytail and makeup lines galore.
For our wedding day, I decided it was best to hire a professional to do my hair and makeup. Although Sister SR is more than capable, I didn’t want to take time away from getting herself ready. After my terrible experience with a ceremony violinist, I was feeling disappointed and a bit hopeless. A few days passed, when I received an e-mail from FMIL Spring Roll. The e-mail contained a website link to a ceremony harpist, recommended by Mr. Spring Roll’s uncle. I immediately visited the website, listened to her sample music, and contacted her via e-mail. Within minutes of sending my e-mail, I received a reply. We discussed pricing, availability, and set up a meeting.
Upon meeting, Mr. Spring Roll and I were pleasantly surprised. As she began to play Pachelbel’s Canon in D, goosebumps covered my arms — we hired her to play twenty minutes prior to our ceremony, during our ceremony, and as our guests exit. She has asked us to provide a list of songs we would like her to play. We have already chosen our ceremony and exit music, but need some help choosing songs to play prior to the ceremony.
