I am a super shy lady. Have been my entire life. When I was a tot, I could be found hiding behind my mom’s legs, and when I got older, hiding behind my wall of hair or a BSC book. I somehow got over this affliction when I started a band right after high school, but sometimes it strikes me in certain situations. Like parties, meeting new people, and… photo shoots.

Before wedding planning I had never heard of this “boudoir” business.

This Tornado Loves You (Redux!)

April 26th, 2010 @ 7:25 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

This Tornado Loves You (Redux!) : wedding los angeles pictures recap Hotel2 I have started, stopped, rewritten, erased and restarted this post a dozen times. How do you say goodbye to the people you have shared such a long and personal story with? But I am getting ahead of myself. Before I get to the tearful goodbye part…

Mr. Sprinkle and I left our wedding exhausted but ecstatic. When our cab pulled up to the hotel, I breathed a sigh of relief. Even the huge line outside the hotel’s rooftop club didn’t get me down. We hopped out of the cab, handed our bags (minus the cake, which we weren’t handing to anyone!) over to the doorman, thanked everyone who stopped to congratulate us, and grabbed an elevator up to our suite.

Get Over It.

April 8th, 2010 @ 2:48 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

Now that my recaps are just about finished, and I have talked on and on about how fun, relaxing, and delicious my wedding day was, I need to be honest and spell out all of the junk that went wrong. I’m not going to lie to you… things will go wrong! You probably won’t even realize most of it until the next day, or the next week, and you just have to not let it bum you out. I let a few things get to me, until I convinced myself it was just a wedding, just one single day, and I made myself move on!

So here it is, my list of what went wrong. Hopefully it is as amusing to you as it is to me:

1. I forgot the photobooth props. Not a big deal at all, and totally my fault. Luckily the items have been passed on to another bride, and I hope she gets use out of them! I got over this pretty quickly.

2. My makeup artist canceled. Three days before the wedding, my makeup artist told me she could no longer make it. Luckily, my amazing hairstylist stepped in and did all the hair and makeup. She rules. I got over this as soon as I had my stylist booked for makeup, too. :)

Sprinkle Soiree: Cupcake Fever!

March 16th, 2010 @ 6:31 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

My thoughts on sweets? Go big or go home. If I am going to eat a big white flour/sugar/fat mess, I want it to taste amazing, and I probably want to eat a lot of it. Don’t you?!

Remember when I said I was going to make all of my own cupcakes for the wedding? Well, I pulled it off. I also made just about a million cookies. I was smart enough to hire someone to make a couple of cakes and a pie (for some reason I can bake a mean cupcake, but whenever I try to make a full size cake it ends up being a huge kitchen disaster!), and one of our friends made an apple crisp. Lets just say we had a lot of yummy desserts.

The following food porn is all vegan and all delicious:

But that would have been overkill. We had a great DJ, a photo booth and tons of booze. That was enough!

About Mrs. Sprinkle

Mr. Sprinkle and I practiced our first dance routine for weeks. We hired a local dance instructor to come to our tiny house and choreograph something simple for us, and it was such a good decision. I never would have done a first dance if we hadn’t had lessons! Picking our song was really easy, as it is one of our favorites. We used lyrics from this song on our invitations and programs and everywhere. The lyrics mean so much to me, I can’t even describe it. I’ll post them for you instead:

I’ll be your mirror
Reflect what you are, in case you don’t know
I’ll be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that you’re home

When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you’re twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
’Cause I see you

Sprinkle Soiree: Toasty Time! : wedding pictures pro pics recap Firstt

Towards the end of dinner, our venue coordinator let me know that it was time for toasts, and that there were going to be a few more than expected! We had told her in advance that both Cory and Gina Sprinkle would be doing toasts, and that my mom had a slideshow planned. What we didn’t know was that another friend, my aunt, and my mom all wanted to make speeches, too! Our coordinator asked me if this was OK, and of course it was! I wasn’t going to deny anyone the pleasure of saying nice things about us during dinner.

The slideshow started up first, on the large screen that Marvimon has behind the dance floor. I was SO embarrassed about the slideshow, and at times I really didn’t want it to play, but I knew it meant a lot to my mom.

Not Your Average PWC

February 25th, 2010 @ 4:57 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

We all know about the legendary Post Wedding Chop (PWC). A sizable chunk of ladies grow their locks long before the wedding, and just when they are so sick of hair and can’t stand it anymore, the honeymoon is over and they get to chop it all off! It must be satisfying to finally get rid of it all. Like if Mr. Sprinkle decided to shave his beard (NEVER!) and let me do the shaving. That kind of satisfying.

Anyway… I didn’t really try to grow my hair out (although it did get fairly long and wild towards the end) I did work hard at keeping it one color. Usually I change my hair color or style every two months, but in the year before the wedding I just kept going blonder and blonder, until I hit the platinum shade I really wanted to try out. I absolutely loved being a blonde, but it was terribly hard to keep up. My roots looked horrific at five weeks, and my hair started to get kinda brittle. Many times over the course of our engagement I walked into my salon and discussed dying my hair black instead, or red, or magenta, or something, but I am glad I was able to keep it blonde as long as I did. Clearly, hair is serious business around here.

A few months after the wedding I finally made the big change.

Here is the before:

Sprinkle Soiree: The Photobooth : wedding favors photography Dsc 036 (a couple of our favorite old strips)

Way back when we first started wedding planning, I knew we needed a photobooth at our reception. Hours of entertainment and souvenir strips? Yes, please. Also, Mr. Sprinkle and I love photobooths! We have a collection of at least 50 strips, and we prefer the old fashioned black-and-white ones. And if that wasn’t enough photobooth love, the person that introduced us to each other happens to be a photo booth artist. So naturally, we really wanted a photobooth.

And then I saw the price.
