(I promise this picture makes sense, it’s on the door to the bridal hideaway!)
Immediately following our ceremony, Mr. Sprinkle and I ran back to the bridal hidey-hole for a few glorious minutes of alone time. When we opened the doors we were greeted by two large glasses of water, two cocktails and a dozen little appetizers. We drank and laughed and ate some food, which was DELICIOUS. Ten minutes later, a soft knock reminded us that we should probably get back to the party. We did some super fast posed family portraits and then got busy talking to everyone!

Before we get to the big grand finale moment of the ceremony, let’s chat a bit about kidlets. Whether or not you have children as a part of your ceremony, or guests at your wedding, is a totally personal decision. However, I am a huge advocate for having kids present! Just remember, if they are present, they will get bored during the ceremony. It is just a fact of life that children will get bored during readings and vows and speeches and kisses, even if you do them quickly! Our ceremony clocked in at just under 19 minutes, and yet our photographers still got these awesome shots during the ceremony:

When we last left off, our officiant had just asked us to begin to pledge our vows, as a large and loud distraction appeared in the sky. What was looming above us?
Yes, a really loud, low flying, obnoxious helicopter. Really, I shouldn’t have been surprised, this is Los Angeles, after all.
We paused for a moment to let the helicopter move on (luckily, it didn’t seem to be circling the neighborhood, which can sometimes go on for HOURS here!) and a few guests made silly paparazzi jokes! Read more…

Our officiant, Deidra, opened our ceremony by welcoming all of our guests, and thanking them for being there. She paid special attention to those friends and family members who traveled from outside of Los Angeles. She went on to a special thank you to our parents, and then she spoke a few words about embracing the love of the family and friends who were there for us.
After the opening welcome, Deidra introduced the concept of the White Knot, and spent a minute or so talking about what it meant to her, and how important it was to us. You can read more about the White Knot Foundation here and here.
The ceremony itself began with a short blessing, spoken by Deidra: Read more…

Marriage equality is something that Mr. Sprinkle and I feel very, very strongly about. It is hard for me to even comprehend the fact that adults of legal age are not able to marry and receive the same rights as everyone else, just because of their sexual preference.
We knew that we had to find some way to acknowledge this in our wedding ceremony. Originally, we were just going to have a small paragraph in our program explaining our beliefs. However, after some discussion with our officiant, and this wonderful post, we decided we needed to take it up a notch. Mr. Sprinkle did some additional research and found out about the White Knot for Equality non-profit organization. We knew it was the perfect foundation for us. Read more…

If I could pick one word to describe our wedding day, it would be f’ing awesome. OK, maybe that’s two words. So if I could pick three words to describe it, they would be relaxing and f’ing awesome, because I spent a big part of the day just sitting and watching and enjoying. I could even describe it as a little too relaxing. But I don’t, ’cause that would be silly. Final proof of relaxation before the good stuff happened:

So, we had this chunk of time. After posed portraits, before ceremony. It was a pretty big chunk of time. So we kinda sat around, and drank beer, and talked, and it was great. Read more…

We had such a tiny wedding party that I didn’t really have any planned-out photos in mind. Luckily, our photographer did! We didn’t do anything too crazy, and although I long for a shot of all of our shoes together, I am extremely pleased with how these turned out.
You might recall that I had both Gina Sprinkle and Cory Sprinkle pick out their own outfits, and I think they both made perfect choices! The dresses looked beautiful on both ladies, and their shoes and other accessories were perfect, as well.
The first picture is one of my favorites, just because I love how our different hair colors look all lined up. I also think its hilarious that Gina S. looks so much taller than me… she was wearing some crazy high heels!

After our “first look”, we had an hour or so to dedicate to posed portraits, but we didn’t end up using all of that time (I think… the day was a blur!). While posing for photos may not be my strong point, I absolutely love how these turned out. The portraits below are probably my favorite pictures from the day, and some of my favorite memories as well.
We started out sitting on some of the benches in the outdoor ceremony area. (By the way, does anyone remember this great shoe debate?! I ended up going with #5 but I took off my shoes for the first dance and kept them off for the rest of the night. I was a half barefoot, half yellow shoe bride!)

This whole “first look” idea isn’t something I’ve ever completely understood. I didn’t think it was super important to not see Mr. Sprinkle all day, but he did. Then suddenly, we had to look at each other and probably get all teary with people watching?! Weeeeeird. Really, the whole reason we did it was so we could make sure to get some fancy drinks and eat snacks and give hugs during cocktail hour, instead of posing for pictures. Read more…

While I spent the morning sleeping in and ordering room service, Mr. Sprinkle had to be up early to greet our caterer. She came by the house to pick up all of our alcohol (which was super nice of her) but she could only make it at 7AM! Luckily, Mr. S does much better than me when running on little sleep, so an early morning wasn’t too hard for him.
A few hours later, our photographer’s assistant showed up at our house to chronicle Mr. S and his family getting all dolled up.

After a lovely night of restful sleep, I woke up mid-morning feeling wonderful. Peaceful. Calm. It was my wedding day! I ordered a bowl of granola, took a long shower, and put on the dress I bought specifically for the way it buttoned, all the way from hem to neckline. And because it was red. And because it didn’t have “bride” printed anywhere on it.
There was a bit of a mix up over what nail salon everyone was to go to, so my mom and I ended up at places on opposite sides of town. I was a bit disappointed about this, but quickly got over it as several people worked hard to make my rough teacher hands look ladylike.
I made it to the venue right on schedule. Our stylist Meredith, of Sirens Salon, was already setting up, and our photographer was there as well.

After our rehearsal (which was your standard, hour long event that I have no photos of) we ran back to our place to get ready for the dinner. When we got back to our ’hood, the caterers were already setting up, and our family members were arriving. The sky was gorgeous.
