As I mentioned a few days ago, now that our wedding is over, I’m not so interested in weddings anymore. I am, however, significantly more interested in them than I was before we planned our wedding…if that makes any sense at all. And I’m strangely compelled to continue blabbing about them. So I probably will.
But I must admit, I am interested in very different aspects of weddings than I was when I started planning 15 months ago.
Now that I’ve been released from my (self-imposed) crafting prison, I am mostly interested in weddings because they tell a story of two people, two families, two communities coming together. And I LOVE a good story. Read more…

Back when we were planning I would often wax poetic about everything else I could do once the wedding was over and I had all this glorious free time. So it’s pretty funny that I’m still seeing wedding inspiration everywhere! Wouldn’t this dress be awfully sweet for a little winter wedding?

This one’s for you Sloth. Thanks for the motivation!
My bouquet was unique, beautiful, and extremely heavy. Seriously heavy. If you’re planning on making one of these lovelies, I recommend you start doing push-ups, stat. Despite barely having the arm strength to pull it off, I LOVED carrying my bouquet, and am still loving it on a daily basis, as it now lives perched on a corner of our mantle.
I must confess though, that I’m jumping the gun a little here in sharing my bouquet with you guys. I was trying to wait for our pro-pics, but I’m *cough* too impatient and I feel like I’ve seen a few howthehelldoyoumakethosebroochbouquet type quandaries around the blogosphere lately. And it’s so simple (albeit a bit tedious) that I feel bad holding out on you guys! It’s really no big deal right? It just means you might have to endure yet ANOTHER bouquet post once we actually do have our pro-pics back. That wouldn’t be so bad, would it?
So here’s the deal: today I show you the goods, and tomorrow I show you how to make your own bouquet/WMD. Read more…

It’s gone by super fast and all I have to say is, being married is awesome!
So as we celebrate our one month anniversary on this deliciously grey and rainy day here in Los Angeles, I just wanted to share a bright and shiny sneak peek from our amazing photographer, Kirsten Ellis:

Sorry for all the pointless apologies and start/stop blogging around here lately. I guess you could say I’m in transition? I’m figuring out how to go from being a bride, naturally interested in ALL things wedding, to a normal person, interested in art and food and travel and hanging out with my wife on the couch. Big Sigh. Being a normal person is great! Unfortunately though, normal people aren’t so interested in writing howtomakeyourownawesomebowtietutorials and other such nonsense. Normal people have free time to throw baby showers, redo blogs, decorate their homes, and attend other people’s weddings. Just saying we’re not spending ALL our time on the couch!
That said I’m doing my best to motivate and share all the projects/thoughts about our wedding/marriage that I just never got around to. So today let’s talk about our music selection, and then maybe, just maybe, I’ll find it in myself to share a few more projects. Maybe I’ll even write a tutorial or two. Read more…

I so did not intend to do a whole bunch of sewing…but in the end I made tablecloths, runners, napkins, and napkin rings. Basically, I did a whole bunch of sewing. I’m not joking when I say I had hundreds of yards of muslin lying around! And I’m not exaggerating when I say I used it all! And then some.
I do have to say that most of these projects were pretty easy & satisfying in terms of getting a look we couldn’t afford to buy/rent or even find. I loved our muslin table cloths which were really simple, not shiny (did I ever tell you I hate shiny?!), and went all the way to the ground and pooled a little. I LOVE that they completely covered up those ugly rental tables, too.
And I LOVED our Stripetastic runners, which I’m currently recycling into curtains for our kitchen and pillows for our backyard! IKEA seriously has the best fabric! Check out our stripey vibe: Read more…

Lest you thought I stopped blogging because I didn’t like you guys anymore, I will now offer up a few pitiful excuses for my long absence. It’s the perfect storm, really: we both got uber colds two days post wedding, our internet broke (oh, the boredom!) and then we went back to work. Bummer. And here I am at the end of work week one (and our first week of shooting, so a particular doozy) finally taking a minute to say hi. So *tentative wave* HI!
*Drum roll. I now present project parade. A series of blog posts in which I detail our last minute DIY projects and adventures leading up to the wedding. It’s part procrastinating while we wait for our pro pics, part giving you what I owe you, and part showing off the cuteness. Oh! And it’s an ode to alliteration, too.

Hello from wearestillrecoveringfromourweddingland! It’s pretty awesome, except for the part where we both got colds. Yeah. Weddings really take it out of you!
Anyhow, because my wife (!) recovers far later into the morning than I do, I actually have time to start tossing up all those posts I meant to write for you guys pre-wedding! Lucky you!
So pull up a chair and let’s chat about my other love: the blue mason jar. I’ve loved blue mason jars since I was a kid addicted to Sunset Magazine. Yup. I was a freak. Moving on. I knew that I wanted to incorporate blue mason jars into our whimsical, outdoor love fest, but I was already hung up on using milk glass (say what?! I never wrote that post either! My god—what was I doing around here?) for our centerpieces. Then a crazy thought sprung into my head—what if our guests could drink out of the jars?
I know, it’s not the most original idea in wedding land, where mason jar brides abound, but the blue ones? I became hellbent on having our guests drink out of those damn blue jars. And not just because they’re blue people, but because they’re green. Read more…

Guess what we did this past weekend? Um. Yeah. We got married! Squeal!!!
It was by far the most amazing, magical, and ridiculously awesome day I’ve ever experienced in my life. And to think I used to scoff when people called their wedding day the thebestdayoftmylife. I stand corrected. To be surrounded by so much LOVE is some rare and strong magic. It will be pretty hard to rival, but I certainly hope we will spend every single day of the rest of our lives together trying to recreate that magic for each other. Read more…

And flags! Lots and lots of cute mini flags for your guests to wave at you as you walk down the aisle.
We’re not allowed to have things thrown (petals, paper hearts, poms) at our venue, and bubbles make me paranoid about my contacts and stains on our dresses…
So fantastic flags are the obvious solution. And I’ve got a hundred yards of muslin lying around the house, so you better believe that most of our cheap free, easy and last minute projects will take full advantage.
This project was more involved than I would have liked (you could start out with pre-made flags a la smartie pants Potato Chips) but like I said—the muslin is free, and (sadly) so is my labor. Luckily I had a little help from Bridesmaid J & the bun to whip these together. And even though it was a bit more time consuming than I would have liked, it was super-crazy-easy.
And the results are super fun (in my ever humble opinion)!
