It’s about time I shared our bouts with you! I gave you a sneak peek of them when I was on Bee TV, and shared my inspiration here. A few weeks prior to the wedding I had not yet settled on the lace bouts, so I flipped through some choices with Mr. Sunbeam and I was surprised when he chose the lacy ones! Woot - lace theme! So during the last two weeks before the wedding, between the favor bags and bouts, I was sewing like a mad woman.

Gifts for the Gals

October 15th, 2009 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

When it came to choosing a gift for my bridesmaids, I went with a traditional choice and gave each a piece of jewelry that they could wear to the wedding and hopefully for years to come. When choosing the pieces I had to take into consideration that I had given the girls free range to chose a dress of any style, which meant different necklines, and the fact that one of my ladies doesn’t have pierced ears. The final factor was finding something silver at a time when gold was all the rage, to go with our wedding colors.

The first find was from the ever fabulous Anthropologie. I stalked the Anthro site for months waiting for something perfect to come along.

Hello hive! It feels like I’ve been gone for a while now - even though I may have been sneaking around the WB all along. Tee hee. I can truly say the weeks of our wedding and honeymoon were some of the best days of my life. Our wedding was wonderful despite the occasional rain shower, our friends really came out for us in the preparation and kept the dance floor alive during the reception, and we had a fantastic honeymoon!

IT’S TIME!

September 26th, 2009 @ 2:45 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

Today is our wedding day! Ironically, it looks like rain, but the sun will be beaming inside of me either way!

To Mr. Sunbeam: I can’t believe this day is here. Ten years of dating and it still feels like we’re just beginning. I can’t wait to see your smiling face, call you my hubby, and tell you that you look like a vampire in your suit like I did at every high school dance.

Thank you Weddingbee for being my inspiration and my rock! I can’t wait to share so many things with all of you and tell you more about the trials and triumphs. See you on the other side of Mrs! And good luck to all of the brides getting married today!!

xoxo

Beauty on the Outside

September 22nd, 2009 @ 2:43 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

On the same busy day that I had my second hair trial, I got it together and visited a makeup artist in the city looking for guidance on how to put on my makeup for my wedding day. A bonus was trying out the full bridal look, since I kept my hair trial style intact all day! Signing up for a makeup lesson was not done because I know nothing about makeup (the how to put on mascara lesson make me LOL inside), but I rarely wear eyeshadow and didn’t know the secrets to that bridal glow, so I thought a lesson was money well spent. I came armed with my inspirations.

Hair Trials and Trials Again.

September 21st, 2009 @ 1:10 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

Two Sundays ago I went for yet another hair trial. When I say another, I mean this will be my second of three hair trials. Yes, you heard me. Three hair trials, followed by the final ‘do. When I think about my wedding day hair I just don’t know what I want, and it’s worth the money to me to go in and find out what works and what doesn’t. This time I had gone to a Salon called Edo in San Francisco to have some fun with my hair.

The Last Size Five

September 17th, 2009 @ 1:47 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

Finding my wedding band has been quite an ordeal. As you may recall, I was into the idea of getting a white enamel band. I loved the idea so much. The problem is, as many of you said, enamel is fragile, but some are so darn pretty, like this one I showed you before from Martha Stewart Weddings:

The Last Size Five : wedding rings Photo1

I assumed if I went to the big wigs in the jewelry industry and spent a little more, I’d get a better quality, longer lasting ring, but when I went to Tiffany’s, the conversation didn’t get any less bleak. Enamel rings are simply not up for the job. I guess always knew this in the back of my mind, but I thought with determination it would happen. Well it won’t.

The CAKE!

September 14th, 2009 @ 5:26 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

Like many of you, we too loved cakes A & D. We spent an hour or so in Photoshop trying to combine them and wouldn’t you know it.. we were left with cake C!

The CAKE! : wedding cake Wedding044

Mr. Sunbeam felt the off-centered lace pattern of the cake looked a little more modern, and I was a big fan of the flowers sprinkled around the cake. I was smitten by the fact that the cakes with the lace on the bottom tier very closely reflected the lace on my dress, and I also loved the petal shaped tier, which is why we didn’t lean towards your favorite, cake B.

The Day That Took the Cake!

September 11th, 2009 @ 6:18 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

Yesterday things fell in to place, and I am feeling as sunny as ever! One glorious event (of many) happened yesterday. We decided on our Wendy Kromer cake design! I’m not sure if I’m not getting enough sleep or if I am really that crazy over wedding cake, but I might have got a little teary-eyed when she sent over these beautiful sketches that reflect the lace patterns on my dress. I loved all four of them, and choosing one or a combination of them all was an incredible task!

With Wendy’s permission, I’m sharing our sketches and would love to take a vote on your favorite! The cake will be cream overall, with white piped details. Here are the beauties:

Time to transition into dance mode! At this point in time, our guests will be full of yummy cheeses, wine, and delicious little fall-inspired small plates. They will be craving some sugar and needing some music to keep them from slipping into food coma. No worries, guests! The dance music is on its way!

We’ll be slicing our delicious (soon to be revealed sketches) cake by Wendy Kromer to Little Sack of Sugar:

Then Mr Sunbeam and I will take the floor. Based on your feedback, the fact that it has a beat that is easy to dance to, and because it was my #1 all along, muahaha, we are going to dance to Iron & Wine’s Lady’s House. Swooooon.

To me, it’s hard to make your mark with a unique chair sign, but here’s what I’ve come up with to combine with the chair ribbon decorations I shared yesterday.
