I had such high hopes of leisurely blogging about all my thoughts and feelings leading up to the wedding this week, documenting how it all went down - what a fool! Instead I am scrambling to finish up so much stuff at work, that I’ve barely had a second to think about what’s actually happening and am basically running around like a chicken with my head cut off. So when I get back, dear readers, I promise recaps of all the little details. We’ll have much to discuss while waiting for the professional pictures! In the meantime, I did manage to take some pictures of the escort cards…
It’s a flurry of last minute projects at the Sundae house, and last weekend we hit up Target for some goodies to put in the bathroom baskets. After reading the bathroom basket wiki, I had lofty expectations as to all of the things that we would include… and then we got a little lazy. Plus, the girls basket turned out to be a little smaller than I had expected. So, after doing some damage at the $1 miniature sized travel bins, this is what I came up with:

The girls basket includes:

In our search for some unique table numbers, I came across this wonderful idea on OnceWed. Laurie Cinotto originally created the idea for the blog, and we sort of ran with the inspiration (thanks, Laurie!).
The idea is that you put a notebook on each table so that guests can leave notes for the bride and groom. It will serve as a sort of wish bowl that we can go back and read when the day is over.

With mere weeks to go, I can’t tell you how many times the phrase “It’s On!” runs through my head in a day. Every time a project is completed, we mail off a final payment, we track down one of the non-responders, and get a little closer to a finalized guest list, I think… it’s ON!
A part of me feels like we’ve spent the past year planning for this mythical event, something happening so far in the future, that it seemed like it would never get here. One recent event really made things seem like reality, though. We picked up our rings!
The lovely Miss Cupcake just wrote about personalizing her Out of Town Totes, and that reminded me that I never got around to writing about ours! I bought our plain canvas totes from cheaptotes.com several months ago for .99 cents a piece. It seems that they went up in price for a little while, but right now they’re on sale for .99 cents again! This is how the plain tote looks:
Finally, some pictures! Admittedly they aren’t the best quality, but a makeshift photo shoot on our kitchen counter will have to suffice.
I designed the invitation suite myself and worked with a local letterpress company to have them printed. I love letterpress so much that we just had to find a cost effective way to make it work, so designing them myself and using a small printing company proved to be the best option. It took a lot of research, and I didn’t actually have the best experience with them, but I am really happy with the end result so I suppose that’s all that matters! I hate to blur out the some of the information but hopefully you can still get an overall feel for how things looked…
We live roughly two hours away from where we’ll be getting married, which means that I’ve been planning what I like to call a “semi-destination wedding.” The vast majority of my communications and dealings with vendors have been either over the phone or via email, with the exception of 3-4 weekends we’ve spent up at the lake during our engagement. On top of that, only one member of our wedding party (the best man) lives in the same state as we do. My parents live two hours away and the rest of my family is kind of scattered across the country. Everyone has made huge efforts to spend as much time with me and help out as much as possible during the planning process, and in all honesty I started planning so early that I’ve never felt like I am lacking any support.
But the point of all this rambling is that, due to the aforementioned logistics, I’ve had to go to several vendor meetings by myself. It never crossed my mind that this isn’t the norm… I would just grab my binder and be ready to get on with it. But then I started to get the sympathetic looks and the questions, “It’s just you here today? Where is the rest of your party? You’re all by yourself?”

My last post was exactly two weeks ago - yikes. I know I’ve got some explainin’ to do, but hopefully my little absentee situation will turn out to be words of wisdom to some of you! So, here it goes… get your violins ready…I am not sure I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but I have asthma. I know there are a few other bees (and therefore I am sure a lot of you) who have it as well, so I know I am not alone. I’ve had it since I was really young, I actually can’t remember a time when I wasn’t toting an inhaler of some sort around with me.
What does this have to do with weddings, you ask? I’ve been MIA for the past two weeks because I had myself a big ’ol asthma attack. And I know exactly why it happened… someone got sick at work and because I was so run down with stress and over committing myself to things, it hit me hard. I was completely knocked on my butt and forced to think about nothing other than my health and getting myself well again.

Remember how much I loved the sign pictured above? I showed it to my Dad and he took matters into his own hands, namely getting permission to take some barn wood from a friend’s brother and driving 30 miles to said barn with a crowbar in the car. That’s dedication for you!
He assembled it all this weekend, here it is on the stake:

I am officially entering the “tying up loose ends” phase of the planning process, and there are a lot of ends to be tied! I went on a mad dash around town last weekend to find a basket for our programs, and while I was at World Market I came across this:
